Show HN: Slaide, open-source Markdown slides AI writes and PowerPoint opensI am trying to replace PowerPoint with a file format better suited for AI. But let me fill you in...So, I pitch a lot these days, and "make the deck" had become the worst part of my week. I don't know about you, but automation hasn't really worked for me here. Every AI deck tool I tried failed the same way. After various trial and errors, it ends up being fine on screen, but a broken approximation on export, and not one of them would touch my company master. So I was thinking that perhaps the solution is to give AI a format that's just easier to handle - the XML is really bloated and complex, maybe Markdown & YAML would do better. So, I gave it a shot and it worked. It is called .slaide. It is basically a somewhat customized Markdown to match text with theme defined placeholders and a theme defined in YAML. The markdown has some custom elements for charts, svg, html, etc. to make it valid. All files are then packaged in a zip file (.slaidec). It renders to a web deck, a PDF and a .pptx.

New Wenchang lunar pad completes first Long March 10 testTokyo, Japan (SPX) Feb 18, 2026 At the future departure gate for Chinas crewed lunar journeys at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern island province of Hainan, personnel in blue uniforms have been carrying out post launch operations around a newly built tower dedicated to human missions to the Moon. The tower and its associated systems are being checked after the facility handled its first launch. The new

Show HN: Fuzzy-matching messy job board data against the UK Gov Visa RegistryHey HN,I’ve been working on job application pipelines and kept hitting a massive data friction point: reliably filtering out UK companies that legally cannot sponsor international workers. The UK Home Office publishes a constantly updating CSV of licensed sponsors. The problem is, the data is practically useless for standard database joins. A job board might list a role at "Acme", but the government registry lists "Acme Technologies Holdings Limited".If you run an exact-string match or a basic ILIKE against a scrape of 10,000 Indeed or LinkedIn jobs, your false-negative rate is massive.I wrote a TypeScript-based matching engine to solve this. Here is the pipeline:Dynamic Ingestion: It bypasses the Gov.uk dynamic routing to pull the raw, multi-megabyte CSV directly into memory. No stale database records.Text Normalization: I built a custom parser to strip out standard corporate suffixes ("ltd", "plc", "llp", "t/a", etc.) and handle the weird punctuation and localized encodings that break
Satellite and model fusion boosts China solar radiation forecastsIMAGE

Satellite and model fusion boosts China solar radiation forecastsTokyo, Japan (SPX) Dec 31, 2025 The intermittent output of solar power creates challenges for grid operators who must keep supply and demand in balance. Traditional numerical weather prediction models often handle cloud initialization poorly, which degrades ultra-short-term solar irradiance forecasts over time. Researchers Min Chen and Liangchen Guo of the Institute of Urban Meteorology at the China Meteorological Admini

Satellites lined up for shared space computing power networksTokyo, Japan (SPX) Dec 31, 2025 Researchers are outlining a space computing power network that would link communication and computation across satellite constellations to handle growing data processing demands in orbit. Over recent decades, satellites have expanded global connectivity and remote sensing, but many systems still move raw data to the ground for processing under tight contact windows. Traditional satellite-g

Who has the best map of orbit?IMAGE
spacenews.com• Nov 6, 2025• 1 min read
Who has the best map of orbit? How precise are satellite collision-avoidance platforms? Artificial intelligence is helping space trackers get a handle on increasingly congested orbits, but physics and math are only part of the challenge in a domain where debris, satellite maneuvers and solar weather can quickly rewrite the map. Companies tend to share their performance metrics only with customers, but […] The post Who has the best map of orbit? appeared first on SpaceNews.

Show HN: I Processed Brazil's 85GB Open Company Registry So You Don't Have ToLast year, I needed to find all software companies in São Paulo for a project. The good news: Brazil publishes all company registrations as open data at dados.gov.br. The bad news: it's 85GB of ISO-8859-1 encoded CSVs with semicolon delimiters, decimal commas, and dates like "00000000" meaning NULL. My laptop crashed after 4 hours trying to import just one file.So I built a pipeline that handles this mess: https://github.com/cnpj-chat/cnpj-data-pipelineTHE PROBLEM NOBODY TALKS ABOUTEvery Brazilian startup eventually needs this data - for market research, lead generation, or compliance. But everyone wastes weeks: - Parsing "12.345.678/0001-90" vs "12345678000190" CNPJ formats - Discovering that "00000000" isn't January 0th, year 0 - Finding out some companies are "founded" in 2027 (yes, the future) - Dealing with double-encoded UTF-8 wrapped in Latin-1WHAT YOU CAN NOW DO IN SQLFind all fintechs founded after 2020 in São Paulo:SELECT COUNT(*) FROM estabelecimentos e JOIN empresas emp ON

Show HN: Use GLM-5.3 in Cursor today via tokengo APIHi HN,Hearing a lot of buzz around GLM-5.3, which I expect to be the best open-source coding model with the weights dropping soon, I wanted to test it where I actually do my work.I just mapped GLM-5.3 to TokenGo so I could swap out the base URL and use it directly in my IDE.The backend handles the edge routing via Cloudflare to keep latency low, critical when you're waiting for inline code completions. If you want to try GLM-5.3 (or glm-5.3-flash) in your own workflow, here is the setup. For Cursor:Go to Settings > Models.Add your API key in the OpenAI API Key field.Toggle "Override OpenAI Base URL" and set it to: https://api.tokengo.com/v1Under "Model Names", add z-ai/glm-5.3.Select it in your chat panel dropdown. We're one of the first inference providers to get the GLM 5.3 family online and fully accessible for IDEs. If you'd like to try it in a high volume production workload I'd be happy to provide test keys for yall
