Head hunted and went from a mega stable nothing ever really changes with a low stress environment where it would cost a lot to get rid of me with over a decade and a half of service to a extremely fast paced "lets do it" environment that is rather "make it work for now" and the technical debt is large. I joined partly because I had a real rapport with the guy who would be my boss. The money helped too :DThe day I joined the company it got bought out by another one. Ok, we carry on, integration ongoing. Stuck between two competing outlooks on infrastructure and different ways of working.Then in the last month I have a diagnosis of the big C. Tests are completed (i think) but it looks to be the one you want to get if you had to pick one. Treatment plans inbound imminently...A few weeks ago my boss resigned. I have a function "can_buy()" that does a few things. It gives agents an understanding of what they can and can't do. It helps them know if a merchant allows ai agents to buy without a human involved, it lets the agent know my product prove the store is really who it says it is and not a fake site, and it lets the agent know how much it can spend before it has to ask a human for permisssion to proceed. I wanted something that just orchestrates those tools without Bazel-level complexity. It didn’t exist, so we built it.Aster discovers your existing project files (mix.exs, package.json, Cargo.toml, go.mod, …), builds one graph, and runs targets in order. You can extend it by writing aster.toml files to specify new targets and dependencies or override existing ones. Aster supports a local services runner - it lets you define a set of services to launch with one command and conventions to do this per worktree so each worktree can have it's own private environment. Accurate trail maps are near and dear to me. And one thing I've found with pretty much every online map is that they are quite generic as to how they color the lines illustrating the actual "trails" within a park or trail system. In person, mountain biking trails/routes tend to be marked with signs, often featuring a different color for each route. And there is very often a local map for the park showing those routes with the colors, etc. But, pretty much all mobile apps just don't show that.So, I put together a toolchain that generates maps from OpenStreetMap data, some other open data sources, plus some manually inputted things, and produces static HTML+CSS+JS maps of individual trail systems.
