I’ll start with one city, focusing on the downtown area, and then expand from there. I know there are open-source versions available, but I want to build this map for a specific use case.On a scale of 1 (a stupid idea) to 10 (a great idea), where would this fall?

Ask HN: How long does Amazon delivery typically take?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38055516I mainly used Amazon Prime for streaming, and now it's all ads so I'd like to cancel it. I live in various places, but all major US metropolitan downtown areas and I have this sneaking suspicion that I'm not actually benefiting from Prime 2-day free either since they're doing dropoffs at my various apartments all the time. If I cancel Prime will they start to pour molasses on my orders? (also, I'm sure people who don't match my profile will have interesting things to ask or say, so don't limit yourself, but I'm not talking about backordered or 3rd party fulfillment)

Ask HN: I'm homeless and I got the job – now how do I find housing?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42001314As it currently stands, I have a government IT job -- in addition get a pension and have good job stability, the only wrinkle is maintaining residence in the area said local government serves.I'm making ~80k, and for context with 15ish-k I could put a down payment on a cheap house in the city (where the schools are worse but taxes are lower)... but with an eviction most landlords won't even consider me.What I'd like to do is find a cheap apartment, save aggressively, and find a house in the city.(It's like a lot of America here -- the city schools suck, but you have a lot less taxes, so you can get a good deal if you're single on something a very short commute to our downtown.)I'm also homeless.I tried moving out of a bad domestic violence situation, but got laid off after about six months as COVID fell.One of my parents had the beginning of Alzheimer's, and would wave a handgun around if he perceived disrespect. Ask HN: How to find a small town to relocate for remote work?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32465372Curious to hear the community’s perspective on where our next move should be.I’m an engineering manager at a fully remote US company with long-term plans to stay (and even if not, no desire to return to the office regularly). I don’t drive but like to walk to the supermarket and restaurants. My wife doesn’t like living in a big city, so we’re in the burbs within walking distance of a little “downtown” area.It’s a bit of an unhappy medium because the homes we want still cost $1M, yet it’s a long and limited walk. Plus we’re ready for something new. We’d likely both be happier in a town, living just off some Main Street with 20 or so shops. The city is great but honestly I don’t need more than a good diner, a supermarket, and a friendly bar. Nice to haves are a pleasant climate (not too cold), an airport within an hour or so, and decent public schools.I’m asking here because I hear so much about NYC/SF tech workers being set loose by remote work and leaving.
