Ask HN: Are you also experiencing issues with Azure Redis in Western Europe?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48460988Context: we've been using Azure Cache for Redis for about two years now. We have constant health checks that require a successful ping on redis. Normally, we might have a small connection issue every 2-3 days well outside office hours, not much else.Over the last two days (June 8 and June 9) we have seen constant network issues between our runtimes (Hetzner, Western Europe) and Azure Redis. I cannot discard it being something on our end. But it is highly suspicious that we have Redis issues while we have minimal to no network issues with Azure Postgres, which is in the same zone as Azure Redis.We see no issues reported by Azure, but that's not much of a reassurance. We've experienced Azure outages in the past (for example, sending of emails) that never had an official mention in any public status page.If you're also experiencing network issues with Azure services in Western Europe, it'd be great to know we're not the only ones.Jun 9, 2026 1:37 PM

Ask HN: How do you cope when your startup contracts?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48453224The same general situation has happened to me twice now and I am wondering if it’s something I can break free from or if it’s just the nature of the Startup beast - or what. There seems to be some kind of bubble that starts drying up investment in a startup where I am a technical lead. Both times, things seem to be going well and then 2 years in there are rounds of layoffs due to factors outside my/product’s control where the result is the same. I end up as the last tech generalist. It falls to me to write as much of the code as I can, manage (if any are left) engineers in my department, running support basically on my own, owning a large part of the product roadmap, working with the customers on support and implementations, working with integration partners, plus a slowly expanding list of responsibilities as new stuff falls on reduced teams. A lot of people asked about the memory system so here's that.## The ProblemStarted with a JSONL fact store and embedding similarity retrieval. Simple enough until it wasn't. After a few weeks of real use I had 14 near-duplicate facts about the same topics from different sessions. Layered dedup on top of dedup and it still wasn't clean.The bigger problem was relationships. "Peter works at DevMesh" and "DevMesh is building an outreach platform" were two separate embeddings. You could retrieve each one but you couldn't traverse from one to the other. No multi-hop. No fact evolution.
