Show HN: WaveHouse – Supabase for ClickHouseWhile building an IoT telemetry solution, we ran into hurdles with Clickhouse. For one, you can't insert quickly AND durably into Clickhouse without setting up something like Kafka, which gets complicated for quick projects wanting to make use of Clickhouse's powerful features. Then, trying to actually query Clickhouse and show data in a UI required a whole backend API to handle auth and permissions.We figured that all these parts together – fast, durable ingest, row-level and column-level security and roles, and realtime streaming – were a lot of scaffolding to have to rebuild for every project we wanted to use Clickhouse in. So, we built them all into a single Go binary to be deployed alongside Clickhouse, to help lower Clickhouse's barrier to entry. We call it WaveHouse.Would love any feedback as we work on improving and adding more features to this OSS project!

Show HN: Investment Bets – A performance tracker for market betsI've long been an index-investing type of person, but sometime last year I started making some side bets, especially in tech (some inspired by WSB). Since I was also sharing some of them with like-minded friends, I thought about simplifying this whole process.This is how Investment Bets came about: you pick a ticker, a direction and optionally a target date. From there, the site tracks your bet for as long as you keep it open (or until the target date), and you can always see the % gain/loss.The entry and exit prices are fetched automatically by the server at the respective times, so you can trust that a bet you see was legit and not just a self-report. The obvious downside is that you have to open/close them ASAP if you want to track your actual trades, but so far I haven't found that to be a problem.All the performance is tracked as percentages and all sizing is always equal, in order to focus on performance and make it easier to share without the sizing awkwardness. Rebuilt most of it since then, so posting again with what's actually different.Youtilitics still pulls interval data your utility already collects (Green Button/ESPI — 15-60 min whole-house kWh) and turns it into usage analytics. The analytics stack is different: baseline anomaly detection (median/MAD by time-of-day bucket, not a flat threshold), overnight step-change alerts, usage heatmaps, cycle-over-cycle comparisons, etc. It is still based on a model trained on human-labelled data: used to differentiate baseline (eg vampire load) vs EV vs HVAC vs the rest. Inference runs with a python script when new data is received from the utility.I also changed the mobile app. It is still mainly used to store the user credentials without us having them (they never leave the device), for security/privacy reasons. Does anyone find AI code review useful?I’m genuinely trying to understand the point of AI code review.Once an LLM generated change gets into a few hundreds or thousands of lines, a human reviewer can barely read the whole thing in any meaningful way. And even if they can, why should they spend their time reviewing thousands of lines generated by someone else’s AI?If the code is going to be reviewed by another AI anyway, why doesn’t the developer opening the PR just run one more iteration before submitting it?Is the assumption that after a thorough implementation pass, having a different AI review the code “some time later” will catch things the original AI somehow missed?Or is the assumption that my precious "Code Review AI" has some superior prompt and sacred collection of skills that makes it meaningfully different from the AI the developer used to write the code?If that’s the case, why not just give developers that reviewer AI locally and have them iterate against it before opening the PR?What’s the point? Show HN: A new way to read books, magnifying in and outAfter watching The Odyssey, I thought it would be cool to check out some scenes from the source in detail, but I don't have time to read the whole book. So I came up with a sort of zoom/microscope, that allows to see the whole book at a glance and then zoom in (by pinching) on the part I'm interested in. I can do so down to the actual source text and get the authentic feel the author intended, at the same time I better understand where am I in the text and also the character and places are clickable so I can quickly orient myself on the context. Wanted to show you guys Dispositio, a project planning TUI that saves projects to simple markdown.I always have a ton of solo projects cooking, and in the past organized and planned them in increasingly complex `ROADMAP.md` files. After working with bubbletea on another project, and after constantly manually calculating its delivery dates for myself (as my bandwidth was quite limited at the time), I realized it would be cool to combine the two!The result is Dispositio, a tool which:- Tracks milestones, set estimated durations, rearrange and modify easily, and see the estimated timeline of the whole thing (measured in weeks for now; can add sprints or other metrics later if people want it) - Lets you set up tasks and subtasks right in it (added because I found it very handy to just keep my todos right here, one per project) - Handles overdue items etc - Helps you know how many days you get on average per milestone task in order to stay on task - Saves to plain markdown so you ca
