To do that, I spent nearly 20 minutes solving Google captchas, which honestly felt like the most humiliating experience of my life.humiliating enough that I am walking away and maybe not returning. They all go through the same pipeline: global URL rewrites, tracker parameter stripping, rule matching (domain / prefix / regex / source app), per-browser rewrites, then either open or show a picker at the cursor. Things I cared about that other pickers don't quite get right:- Browser profiles as first-class targets. A rule can send a URL to "Chrome, Profile 3" or "Firefox, Work container" - not just "Chrome". Seems obvious; somehow nobody else does it properly.- Source-app matching. GitHub links from Slack route differently than GitHub links from Messages. I didn't have a good answer until yesterday.Oddly, the answer came from an HN thread about moon dust smelling like gunpowder. The thread drifted into oxygen, reactivity, Mars, and long timescales. That ended up clarifying something for me.I think a lot of AI anxiety comes from viewing yourself mainly through the lens of one job market at one moment in time. I don't naturally think that way.Earth took a very long time to produce an oxygen-rich atmosphere. Life took a very long time to adapt to it. Ask HN: Does magic link authentication use HTML canvassing?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47817835Many sites are starting to use magic link auth more often and I am wondering if its a trend to also glean more information from the account holder.I dont like this auth process because it forces me to have to use the email system to authenticate every time which adds to the amount of time it takes to log-in. With Claude.ai, the auth process at least gives you an option to use a code to sign in with after you get the email. The problem is, the email doesn't contain the code. You have to click on a link which opens a web page to gain the code and it appears at that point it wants to do an HTML canvassing operation. I feel like that is a violation of privacy to do this at the point of trying to log into a service I pay for. I'm wondering if I am off base or if anyone notices this, or finds a difference in the process. and if its happening, what can be done about it. It exports Apple SF Symbols as SVG, PDF, or PNG.The vector paths come directly from macOS's symbol renderer. Internally it reaches a private ivar on NSSymbolImageRep to get the CUINamedVectorGlyph, draws into a CGPDFContext, then walks the PDF content stream back out as SVG `d` commands. The output matches what the system draws, rather than an approximation traced from rasters.A few things about it:- Every subcommand accepts `--json`, and `sfsym schema` returns a machine-readable description of the whole CLI. - Symbol enumeration reads the OS's Assets.car BOM tree, so the list of 8,300+ names stays current with macOS updates without a version table in the binary. - Each SVG `` carries a `data-layer` attribute, so you can retheme in CSS without touching geometry.It's been saving me a bunch of clicking. The benchmarks are real: 87.6% SWE-bench (from 80.8%), +13% on coding tasks, 3x more resolved production tasks on Rakuten-SWE-Bench. But there are a few changes that compound on each other for token consumption: a new tokenizer (1.0–1.35x more tokens for the same input depending on content type), xhigh effort mode that reasons longer per turn, and /ultrareview which spins up parallel agents for code review. The model is genuinely better. The question is whether "better reasoning on the same noisy context" is the right optimization. Coding agents still spend most of their budget exploring files they won't touch before doing anything useful — a smarter model doesn't fix that, it just does it more thoroughly. Curious what cost delta people are seeing on real codebases moving from 4.6 to 4.7, especially with the new effort levels.
