API or library to grade “music quality”?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37562807I'm working on a framework that connects multiple publicly available AIs (GPT-4, Suno Chirp, several Sentence Transformer models, etc.) in an effort to create a fully autonomous singer/songwriter. The idea is that a script can run, and when it's done, the result is an original song, complete with title, genre, lyrics, and full audio.Currently, it's about 90% automated. It does all the topic brainstorming, genre choice, and lyric writing on its own, including building up a memory bank of imagined (but self-consistent) personal experiences it can draw upon for future songwriting inspiration (using a handful of semantic search techniques). And then Suno Chirp generates the audio.The only part that's not automated right now is the connection between the lyrics/genre and the audio. I have nearly lost everything. Not made CC payments in 2 years etc. The US embassy was of little help, mainly because I am a dual citizen. Be assured that this is something that will change very soon. Some things would count as torture that I experienced in this prison (I was 5 month without any contact to my public defender, he never picked up his phone. I wanted to call the US embassy but was denied, finally they declared me crazy for claiming to be a US citizen and I was put in solitary confinement in a cell that was video monitored 24/7. All this is over now. I was released unexpected yesterday. Now I try to heal and recover.A friend of mine was able, to at least some extent, to pay for some of my domains. One of the ones in a free standing building in the middle of a much larger shopping center parking lot- bordering the interstate. A group of 6-7 of us employees, INCLUDING the General Manager, were big gamers.At the time, Call of Duty releases were all the rage. The night of the Modern Warfare 2 release, we all closed up at 10pm, invited a few of our friends, and brought in our monitors (mostly 40inch TVs) and Xboxes. We set them all up on the Chick-Fil-A tables and booths and made several batches of Chick-fil-A nuggets and fries. We played 6v6 from about 11:00pm - 4:00am.I remember thinking how ridiculous it must have looked from the interstate to see a Chick-Fil-A lit up with 12 big screens inside through those translucent shades at 2:00 in the morning on a weekday.That is one of the greater memories of my childhood. Show HN: Story of using C# for a terminal app (macOS and Linux)https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37440907The backstory and implementation of a hobby project called ViLark[1]I wrote it to make myself a faster and nicer looking file/buffer selector when I am using vim. But it's a stand alone executable -- when I launch it from a hotkey in vim, it takes over the terminal screen, and vim is suspended. It uses temp files to communicate the user selection back to vim, and it exits whenever a file is chosen or the escape key cancels it.This honestly wouldn't be possible without C# AOT compilation. Startup time would be too slow. But now, it's finally at c/c++ level startup time, perceptually. Really, it's instant, and doesn't feel like a break in the flow.It uses a few new .NET features like PosixSignalRegistration, so it gracefully handles CTRL-Z and CTRL-C -- setting the tty back to default settings, and going back to the 'main' terminal screen.
