Is msnbot being used to train AI models?(Summary: msnbot seems to be downloading my website for training an AI model)The msnbot was retired a decade ago for indexing the web, replaced by bingbot. You can tell bingbot not to train AI models by setting a meta tag eg .A month ago I started using this tag for bingbot. After this the defunct msnbot starting hitting my website HARD. I've verified the source IP addresses, and they are genuine.The pattern of pages being indexed is clearly for AI. Search engines and AI indexers slurp my content in different ways. msnbot appears to be taking the data in a way that AI indexers do.I can't find any information about this, or any reason why msnbot has been reactivated in 2026.I'm hoping some people can help!

Alternative to Internet ArchiveNow; i use the archive to archive my prolithic output of music. (i have over 300 albums.) The music is of my own creation.Since the DDoS attack of 2024; Archive has been a hit or miss on the uploading factors. And many of my releases have specific dates for release. With the uncertainty of the uploads happening it causes me to break focus on working with music and watch the upload to make sure there isn't a 503 happening each file. We wondered whether on GPU lossless compression is viable for fast reads and lower TTFT.BF16 is usually very hard to compress, (high entropy of sign/mantissa). What surprised us is that real world KV blocks are very different. The exponent byte has a very low entropy and barely populated. Instead of compressing the whole tensor, we compress only the exponent stream on the GPU.We see the following results: (H100, production KV snapshot):- 1.51× lossless compression - 622 GB/s median GPU decodeDecompression is ~10× faster than a 400 Gb/s NIC bandwidth delivering data losslessly without quality change.We've are open sourcing this as: ExANS which will be available through our vLLM and SGLang connectors on OpenLake v0.8 version. Show HN: Cuts Long Horizon Inference Costs by 50% via external KV Cache OffloadHey HN, we’re the developers of OpenLake, an open source storage engine for offloading LLM KV caches from GPU memory into a shared tier of RAM and NVMe. We built OpenLake because KV caches are outgrowing GPU memory.A single 256K token conversation on Gemma 4 31B produces approximately 43GB of KV state, more than half the memory of an 80GB H100. The problem becomes even harder across a cluster: a prefix cached on one GPU host is unavailable when the next request lands on a different GPU, forcing the new GPU to repeat work the fleet has already completed.Once the KV cache is offloaded, network bandwidth becomes a major constraint on read latency. To move less data across the wire, we built deferred materialization: a custom CUDA kernel that losslessly compresses KV blocks before they leave GPU memory and decompresses them on the GPU after retrieval. Wanted to scan HN pages faster ,that rosonates to me.For me it is easy to grasp if they are in the order of software stack (Hardware, System, Infrastructure, apps, and so on ).Built this chrome plugin that uses Gemini model, to classify. It works but, classification still not great. It is built using claude code cli.on my Mac book pro, Gemini nano model loading takes around 11 seconds, and classification it self takes around 5 seconds. (if sub classification enabled it adds 6 more seconds approx). Model loaded in background thread. And unloads, if not used after 30 seconds. I would say still not pretty usable, without optimized classification time, but it works, to experiment with.
