Google's AI quoted me verbatim 12 days laterI recently posted a comment[1] on Reddit identifying errata in a diagram Asus published for their Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE motherboard.Less than two weeks later, I was mildly surprised when I performed a Google search and found its AI quoting my words nearly verbatim, and presenting them with the confidence of fact: https://i.imgur.com/pgImAWh.pngI took the opportunity to play with search terms, to see just how generic a query could lead to a response lifted from my post. At the moment, googling "Asus Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE diagram has errata" does it [2], and to some extent even just "Does ASUS block diagram have errata" [3].In this case, the comment is (mostly) correct - in fact, ASUS is working on fixing the diagram.But what if I had made up the post, or worse, were a competitor trying to sabotage their reputation?I'm not sure whether I should be impressed or scared. Remote jobs are not possible.Getting entry to offshored IT companies is meaningless. Ask HN: Terrified I wont find another jobcurrently in bay area. quit 10 months ago because of health reasons. 110% better now, thank goodnessi've mostly done lifecycle software engineering for the last 10 years (python c++ javascript). I rarely got to develop features; happened a couple times in the last year. I enjoyed bug fixing but it's such a rare position to find. i've gotten a few interviews, more coming.i've never gotten a job through a referral. i don't really know anybody but going to meetups is on the agenda. does meetup.com even work anymore? not sure how that works, tho...social anxiety+cptsd+autism makes it so difficult.how do you even find 'mentors' ? no one has ever helped me like that, it's inconceivable.I've been grinding leetcode more, and am getting better ( dont have to look at answers as much), studying SD question/answers. working on side projects that are technical enoughBut i'm so scared i wont ever find another job. im thinking of just going to trucking school, but i like software a lot.

Tell HN: ZFS silent data corruption bugfix – my research resultsHey HN,since I'm personally affected by this bug[1] and this scared me somehow, I thought I'd post my research results to have a discussion about the details.I must say I lost a bit of trust in ZFS, since it was 'sold' as rock solid unbreakable file system and now what... the sheer complexity of ZFS let's me think that this was not the only bug of this kind existing undetected in the source code.However the communication was clear and precise, other filesystems had similar problems and I just love the feature set of zfs. So I'll give it another shot hoping that future revisions will be safe(r).Here are my conclusions so far: 1. ZFS had a silent data corruption bug recently discussed on HN [6][7] 2. `Silent` means, you can't do anything about it without upgrading zfs (scrubs, checks, etc. don't help) 3. There is no tool to check if your data has been corrupted 4. Only once written and untouched data should be relatively safe (e.g. backups), the bug mainly affects reading data [4] 5. Set

Ask HN: ADHD is ruining my life. Please helpI'm a college senior who historically did well. Straight As in high school while holding down internships. That changed starting in college. Grades gradually slipped. My motivation got worse. I'd always procrastinated but behavior deteriorated to the point that I got Cs in some classes and have little motivation to attend classes.I should be able to handle the work. My focus isn't even bad. But task initiation is killing me. E.g. I did fine at my internship this summer but only cause I was baseline that much better that I could put off the work and complete it very quickly.Similarly, I don't reach out to network/maintain relationships like I should. And small tasks tend to slip through the cracks.Here's the issue:1. I live in a smaller southern college town where no good or even semi-decent therapists have openings for approximately the next forever.2. I am deathly scared of the side effects of amphetamines. They really don't look like long-term solutions.Some other options I've though
