Is Respectful Feedback Dead?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48394670My thought this morning is this. Are people so disenfranchised by advertisements on social media that communities, even those touted as "sideproject" or "solodev", no longer have people willing to try an MVP and provide feedback on a work in progress?I spent 2 months building an app. I went against popular advice online stating to constantly create noise on social media and built it silently... Now, trying to get one person to spend 5 minutes using it and leave a comment feels impossible. It is nothing particularly special - a Progressive Web App calorie counter. While polished and functional, it offers no AI to snap a picture or fancy UX gimmicks to wow users on the front page. This is the first project I have built end-to-end, and after spending over a year with courses and tutorial projects, I am excited about how it turned out. It was a great learning experience building something end-to-end and setting up a backend with payments. But the frustration that my two months of work not only

Show HN: an AI app that settles small couple argumentshttps://thepiece.app/enNisrine and I have been working in the same company for many years (she's Head of Product, I am CPTO) and we have done great things for our employer(s) all along. But we always wondered if we could launch our own app – after all, we know the process of it all, we just "never had the time".The idea started from a random conversation, after Nisrine told me a personal story about she had a stupid little fight with her partner, and after 3 or 4 back-and-forths on each side, she decided she was right. Of course, he decided HE was. But he was not sure, so he asked chatGPT... And lost :)We were making fun of him but then we thought, wait: everybody fights for stupid little things. It would be great if someone impartial, neutral, with no bias, could move the needle in one direction. Not render a verdict like in a Roman Forum but just shows you where (both of) you are right or wrong, and then makes the person who is more in the wrong apologise. Yeah, an AI :)Why apologise? One, because it's the

Launch HN: Hyper (YC P26) – Company brain to power agentic developmenthttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48387095Hey HN, we’re Shalin & Kanyes, best friends who've been hacking together for 10+yrs, and now founders of Hyper (https://heyhyper.ai/). Hyper is a shared “company brain” that plugs into information flowing inside a company to make AI agents and automations better and ultimately save people time.Models have gotten good enough that they can (mostly) take on long-horizon, complex tasks. We believe the bottleneck now is that these smart-enough models often lack information about your company, which is scattered in people's heads, Slack threads, stale docs, and in back-and-forth convos with AI.MCP is useful for getting some info in front of an agent, but there are problems: (1) Once the session dies, so does the insight, so instead of copy-pasting a whole doc each time you're telling the agent to dig through Drive each time - not much of a win; (2) Even when MCP works, what it gathers isn't comprehensive, because people decide things on a whiteboard, brainstorm out loud, post a little in Sla

Show HN: Agent-browser-shield – free extension to protect AI agents on the webhttps://github.com/pixiebrix/agent-browser-shieldI've been experimenting with Claude Code, ChatGPT Agent, and OpenClaw to perform more open-ended tasks for me online. A big blocker I've hit on shopping and research tasks is the agent getting a key piece of info wrong. For example, in one case, my agent decided to add a brand I don't like to the cart because the site flagged it as almost sold outThe HN crowd is probably pretty aware of the threats and can avoid them while browsing. But what about their agents?I tried prompting, but it was ineffective, because once the AI saw the threat, it polluted/distracted its contextLooking at the research, I came across a couple of papers, SusBench and Decepticon. The Deception research benchmarks indicate that increased reasoning can perform worse, because the model rationalizes the dark patternSo it seems the best approach has to be removing the information before it can pollute/poison the contextIn my day job, we have a browser extension that started as a productivity extension. However, contac

Show HN: Odeva Booking – A unified PMS for holiday parks and campgroundshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48376362Hey HN,I'm a solo developer based in Zeeland, The Netherlands. I've been building Odeva, a property management system for holiday parks, vacation rentals, and campgrounds. It's a headless-first tool that's built specifically for the small-to-mid independent operators that legacy PMS vendors ignore. Still deciding on open-sourcing the project. The problem: Most park management software was built 10+ years ago, designed for enterprise procurement, not for the receptionist or park manager who might not need all the bells and whistles. A 50-unit holiday park ends up paying €15K-70K/year across their PMS, channel manager, payment processing, owner portal, guest app, accounting integrations, and the manual labor of making it all work together. Small parks just eat the cost or cobble together spreadsheets. The result is that no PMS wants to help the little guys, and you end up with a package that is too expensive for them. What I've built so far (alpha since May 2026, in production with early u

Show HN: Open-source general-purpose alternative to Exa Websetshttps://github.com/tinyfish-io/bigsetHey Everyone! So I get to spend most of my day tweaking and playing around with really powerful search engines at TinyFish (which is so awesome). I’ve recently been super fascinated by the idea of using a search engine recursively to build datasets.Been playing around with Exa’s WebSets product quite a bit and realized it was mainly focused on prospecting, and it creates datasets with a lot of missing data.So we built a fully open source project, that can build and update datasets on any topic.Datasets I have generated so far, “All products that Starbucks sells on amazon, with their price and if they are in stock”, “All theme parks in California, with ticket prices” , “All YC companies that are currently hiring for eng roles with their hiring page link” Would love for yall’s to try it out, and drop your thoughts, stars and feedback. Thanks!

Show HN: Modeloop – A modern model-based design toolhttps://www.modeloop.app/Hi Developers, I'm Luca, the creator of Modeloop. I've spent the last 18 months building, from scratch, a model-based design tool and today I'm finally opening the Open Beta.Modeloop is a tool designed to generate code and deploy on embedded systems. The core idea behind this product is to create a vertical solution to design, test and iterate on the model faster, leveraging the modern software practices like Git. For this reason, Modeloop avoids vendor lock-in by saving model data as readable JSON rather than proprietary formats, making model reviews significantly easier. At its core, Modeloop is conceived with a developer-first mindset, focusing on delivering an optimal user experience. This approach comes from my personal experience working in the robotics and automotive industries where I've experienced firsthand the frustration of fighting with tool configurations. The software we use should be built to accelerate innovation, not spend all day setting the right parameters to make t

Show HN: Circus Chief – Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini from Your Phonehttps://github.com/ferrislucas/Circus-ChiefHi HN,Circus Chief is a tool for managing coding agent sessions from a browser. It's specifically optimized for small screens. It supports Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Google Gemini CLI agents.FeaturesAgents can operate Circus Chief itself. Agents can spawn sessions, schedule sessions, interact with the Kanban board — anything you can do in the UI, an agent can also do.Schedule work ahead of time.Automatically reschedule when you hit usage limits.Configurable, chainable prompt templates.User-defined commands - agents can run them and see the results, and so can you in the UI. Handy for local CI or routine workflow steps.Worktree-per-session isolation, or elect to work on a specific branch.Shared canvas - this is a place for shared artifacts that don't belong in the code. Useful for iterating on planning documents.Bring your own provider. Use subscription auth for Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google, or point sessions at third-party providers with Anthropic- or OpenAI-compatible endpoints. If
