Show HN: Knowl – CLAUDE.md hit 1000 lines, so I built memory that prunes itselfhttps://github.com/dat999zx/knowlUsing AI agents is amazing, but in long-term, I started to have more and more problems about the context of them. They keep forgetting what we are working on, opening a new chat session clears all their context, my CLAUDE.md had like 1000 lines. So I thought to install those agent memory that are on the market. Started out great, but I noticed that those memory only append and does not fix what is stale. First day I told it to use Lemon Squeezy as our MoR but second day I tell it to change to Polar. But when I ask it again, they keeps returning both answers or cannot decide which we are using. That's why I created Knowl. Knowl solves the problem with freshness of the knowledge. It split the knowledge into small data bits called "atom". Atoms can be of the following types: fact, decision, goal, constraint, architecture, state, skill so we can retrive atoms in categories. When conflict happens at write-time (a new atom conflicts with an old one), Knowl retires the old one (flag it with supe

Show HN: Forst – migrate TypeScript back ends to Go incrementallyhttps://forst-lang.org/docsOver the past ~1.5 years I've been working on this programming language called Forst with the primary goal of replacing TypeScript on the backend.I'd seen many times that running JavaScript on the backend often leads to memory spikes, especially when handling larger data structures, and other inefficiencies due to over-usage of the heap and being restricted to one core by default. So I wanted more efficient native code to replace it but also figured that it's often simply too risky and time consuming to rewrite entire codebases in Go, Rust, or others. This idea led the design. By now, Forst is interoperable with Node, so you can call Forst code from Node via IPC or an HTTP sidecar, and even call existing TS code from Go if you're running a Node process as a child process of your Forst host process. These features enable an incremental migration of parts of your codebase rather than having to go all-in immediately. It started out as a transpiler that emits Go code with support for structu

Ask HN: Combining Healthcare and Software Engineering into a Careerhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49390762I'm a former software engineer (self-taught) who is currently in school studying Kinesiology. I plan on going to graduate school for Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy. Before starting school, I gained a few years of experience working with disabled children. I decided to pursue OT/PT because I very much enjoy working with disabled populations, but want more autonomy to actually make decisions that impact their well being.Despite all of this (and a rocky resume), I still feel like programming is a part of me and is something I find enjoyable as a discipline.Has anyone successfully made a career combining healthcare and software engineering? How did you do it?

Show HN: Bounded GenAI metrics from Otel traces with O raw promptshttps://github.com/llm-measurement/otelcol-genai-sketchesHi friends,Author here. Like to present a project I've been working on - Otelcol-GenAI-Sketches, a Otel connector that works on genai/agent traces, and summarizes them (via sketches), to produce:() exact request counts/totals for tokens; () distinct users/prompts (estimates) (*) 'heavy' items in terms of tokensWhy does this exist: I'm a data scientist by profession, and needed to look at Otel traces, but soon ran into cardinality and portability issues, along with privacy issues (raw prompts being transported elsewhere, like for analysis in a notebook env is a no-no). I wrote a sketchlib first (llm-sketchkit) and then the connector for Otel collectors. To try it out, just:(i) git clone https://github.com/llm-measurement/otelcol-genai-sketches.gi... (ii) cd otelcol-genai-sketches (iii) export GENAI_SKETCH_SECRET="$(openssl rand -hex 32)" (iv) make example-up (v) profit! This would start a demo app that includes a Otel collector, prometheus server/db and a grafana dashboard. The repos conta

Deadly daytime heat turns Japanese farmers nocturnalhttps://www.france24.com/en/video/20260821-deadly-daytime-heat-turns-japanese-farmers-nocturnalJapan's farmers are opting for more nocturnal schedules as daytime summer heat makes working conditions dangerous. North of Tokyo, Motoaki Iijima harvests flowers in his illuminated greenhouse long after sunset. The farmer was pushed to make a dramatic change after a worker suffered heatstroke picking sunflowers in the greenhouse three summers prior. A few towns away, poultry farmer Tetsuya Usuba has also adopted a nocturnal schedule, waking his flock at 2:30 am to eat.

(the bandwidth is a bit hard to reckon with)---Feedback would be awesome! p.s. sorry I did not test on any windows terminals

Show HN: Voro – An attention manager for agentic codinghttps://github.com/ClachDev/VoroA few months ago I was getting frustrated trying to use Claude Code effectively. I was finding that for small tasks I would spend a lot of time waiting for it to finish "thinking" and I would end up browsing here...To make a better use of my time, and ideally make better use of the limits, I developed Voro to help me know what I should be focusing on.Fundamentally it's a task tracker tailored for local agentic coding. Each task is a plan that gets a priority and works its way through a set of states that are either for "humans" or "agents". The main "cockpit" view lists a few different options of what I should be looking at. The bottom has a list of what your agents are working on.Agents are given a small description and generate a task. That can then be reviewed and accepted if it's good, or iterated on by refining. Once accepted it can be dispatched to an agent for implementation. Once finished it comes back for review which can again then be iterated on. The crucial thing is that ma
