Show HN: Pool – A lightweight financial account with members and rulesHey all, we’ve been working on a new consumer financial account called Pool. It’s designed to be ephemeral and used for a specific purpose.Checking accounts have turned into a junk drawer: money flies in and out and we hope for the best. That works well enough, but at some point there's money that needs to be shared or tracked for an ongoing, dedicated purpose. Shared use cases (think house funds, nanny cards, classrooms, side projects, Discord servers, and more) are especially painful. Checking accounts, spreadsheets, P2P apps, and tracking apps fall short. We wanted something more like a silverware drawer. Purpose-built compartments that everyone understands. We wanted an account that would hold money, support multiple members with assigned roles, and offer spending rules, permissions, and cards. Customize your Pool as you like and use it for a day or a decade. It’s meant to complement, not replace, your primary account. This didn’t really exist, so we built it.With the ongoing “agent

Ask HN: Successful entrepreneurs and indie hackers, enlighten meSuccessful entrepreneurs and indie hackers, I'm curious about where your best idea(s) came and what your own path looks like.- I just turned 18 and finished school and I'm about to get into a university for engineering in Greece. - I have some pressure for inside to build wealth despite not needing it to survive. - I have many interests including programming, spearfishing, financial markets, computing, building in general (software and/or hardware). I have a large list of pain points, ideas, things missing from the world (~500 items) with probably at least 10 items that could be monetized and that I would genuinely love to build. - Update: I'm already working on a few things, most of them with a prospect of making money at some point, though that is not the main reason for building them / working on them. The questions I have are the following: 1. What did/does your path look like? I'd appreciate having something for reference. Did you work a job? Are you self-taught?2. Do you have any

Hybrid local and cloud LLM stack for regulated financial document processing?I'm scoping a hybrid AI pipeline for a consulting client in a regulated industry (GLBA-covered, NPI involved). Trying to validate the architecture before bringing on an engineer to build it.The workflow: ingest financial PDFs (bank, brokerage, retirement statements, tax returns), classify by asset type, extract data, apply domain-specific business logic, populate Excel templates and fillable PDF forms. Compliance constraint: no NPI can hit a cloud API without ZDR-style controls.Current architecture sketch: - Local LLM (Ollama or LM Studio) on dedicated hardware for OCR and first-pass extraction - Local PII scrubber/tokenizer (Presidio or Skyflow) replaces identifiers with tokens before any cloud call - Cloud LLM under enterprise terms (Claude API with ZDR, or Bedrock equivalent) for the reasoning layer - Local de-tokenization and template populationQuestions for anyone who's actually shipped this pattern: 1. What stack did you land on, and what would you do differently? 2. Local model

Ask HN: Sudden spike in web traffic 19-21 May?Hi folks, longtime lurker and first time poster here.Did any of you notice a spike in traffic to your app/website/blog on 19, 20 and/or 21 May?Is my built-in traffic tracking (Awstats) possibly not very reliable? On 19 May my blog got 2.5x of a whole month's traffic (750 "unique visitors") and on 20 and 21 each got a whole month's traffic (~300 visitors). The last new post at that point had been on 14 May, so no brand new content.Usually the majority of visitors are Windows users. Suddenly in May Macintosh surges ahead to majority of traffic.Could those unique visitors be OpenClaws running on MacMinis perhaps? For context:I write a regular blog about financial markets, geopolitics, and tech. No subscriptions or comments - just a basic HTML page with some charts and text.According to Awstats I get 250-300 unique visitors per month.I have shared it with < 10 close friends and family. At most 2-3 people I know regularly read it.I have a Twitter account for it with 13 followers where I re-pos

Ask HN: Failing interviews for mid-level SWE in UK, advice pleaseI've a background mostly in ASP.NET full stack software development. I'm very hands on, like to tinker at different things and can learn fast.*Employment History*My employment history is like this: Placement year 2018, worked for the full term + summer, graduated 2020, did backend dev in Python at Company A for 7 months, then full stack ASP.NET at company B for 2.5 years, then co-founded my own company and was the sole developer on our software platform, did all the cloud infra in Azure too. That lasted for another 2.5 or so years. This gives me approx. 7 years of professional software development experience. In May 2025 the company wasn't in a strong financial position, and I started to hunt for jobs. We limped along while I polished it for a launch in September 2025. The site wasn't the success we were hoping. We closed it in February. Despite that, I did learn a lot and my web app development ability is much better as a result.*Job applications*Since May 2025, I've applied for almost

Show HN: Shoehorn – Backstage without the maintenance overheadI'm Anders, co-founder of Shoehorn (https://shoehorn.dev/).For about a year I was genuinely excited about Backstage. Saw the Spotify demo, thought "I want that too". Turned out it wasn't as easy. But to be fair, Backstage is a great piece of software. Powerful, flexible, and if you have a dedicated developer team to run it, you can build something amazing on top of it.The catch is exactly that: you need a dedicated team. Most companies don't have one. Or they do, and that team would rather be solving product problems than maintaining the platform that helps everyone else solve theirs. We wanted something that gave teams 90% of the value with 10% of the operational overhead. We built Shoehorn out of frustration.Goals from the start:1. A great UI, API first, Terraform and CLI: That's what most users actually want.2. Surface problems clearly: No silent failures, no "why didn't my service show up." If something's wrong, you see it.3. Automate the boring stuff: The data is already in GitHub,

SQL access to crypto market data, not just JSONHi HN,I’m Nazim, founders of Koinju.io and I wanted to share here an exploratory option we opened very recently: providing access to our database, which contains all cryptocurrency market data, via SQL. REST give access for direct retrieval but we're thinking more and more that SQL access for analytical work over a unified crypto market data layer could be of something because of llms. This was partly triggered by Didier Lopes, ceo of OpenBB recent essay on financial firms owning the infrastructure where financial work happens (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-did-we-end-up-here-didier-rodrigues-lopes-hgeqe/ ), especially the runtime where workflows execute and AI inference happens. Most data APIs were designed for software that already knows what it wants. Call an endpoint, get JSON, parse it, compute somewhere else. That model worked great and still works great. But I’m not sure it maps well to llm-driven workflows, especially with big data.A language model can call APIs /read JSON o

Show HN: PromptJuggler – A dev env and runner for prompts, workflows, agentsBackstory: At work I had to build an AI pipeline to run millions of prompts. First I just put the prompts into string consts and integrated directly with api, chaining one run onto the output of another – but it quickly became a maintenance nightmare. Iterating on prompts, testing them over datasets, experimenting with different chaining did not fit into the regular sdlc and running them at our scale was quite difficult as most of the time is spent on waiting for the api response while holding on to dear server resources. So we started using PromptLayer in order for the prompt engineer to build evals there, edit-improve prompts outside the code and chaining them together however he likes, and we were also running them on their infra. But the UI was cumbersome and the latency was disappointing and given other issues and having found no better alternative it triggered me into starting to build a better alternative. One year and countless nights and weekends later I have what I like to call

The Founder's Paradox in AI GenerationAs an entrepreneur, I have a paradoxical feeling these days.I have sold my first startup after 8 years of struggle. It wasn't a huge success, but financially rewarding to some extent. I'm still in the company I've sold but my brain doesn't stop thinking about next startup ideas. At the same time, I feel like I don't have any passion. I'm clearly burned out. I don't want to "work" anymore. Especially, I'm not good at working for others. I've lost the ability to function inside a structure I didn't build. Entrepreneurship isn't a choice for me — it's the only mode I know. The rapid evolution of AI fuels that feeling. It's getting harder to get traction with incomplete but interesting product, because the AI itself is too interesting. It's now almost impossible to attract attention with some kind of small but useful kind of tool, unless you have a large number of audiences.Every founder I know has felt it at some point: that sinking feeling when Anthropic or OpenAI drops another update. The

Show HN: Modern AI assisted goals and performance managementHey heyI'm launching this on product hunt and I did a show many months back but prfrm is way better nowprfrm - by ArchitectFWD, is a performance management platform. It is a platform for Teams, Startups & Organizations and also Individuals, Solo Founders & Families to organise and track goals, set plans and review periods to stay on top of development plans and set out the path for success.Typically uses for Review periods, performance plans, goalsAlso just added Team OKRThe Goals AI assistant can create meaningful goals linked to the OKR or to individual goals and plan outcomesI included a journal to track progressThe AI assistant can go over the journal for next steps, talking points for the next meeting or check inAn a Kanban style schedule tracking---I built prfrm by ArchitectFWD because I was tired of traditional performance managementSpreadsheet.. blank cell ..what is next..No more. I can set myself up, set a period, set the plan and outcome and use the AI assistant to help gener
