Show HN: Scan2Sheet – Receipt Scanner to Google Sheets for easy expense trackinghttps://www.scan2sheet.comAfter several months of development and refinement, my mobile app, Scan2Sheet, is finally published and live on Apple Store and Play Store. The idea for Scan2Sheet came from a problem I had myself: managing piles of paper receipts for tax deductions and expense tracking. Manually entering receipt data into spreadsheets is time-consuming, tedious, and prone to errors. On top of that, paper receipts can easily be lost, damaged, or overlooked. With Scan2Sheet, simply take a photo of the receipt whenever making your purchases. In just a few clicks, the extracted expense data and a copy of the receipt image are automatically saved to your own Google Sheets document. There's minimal manual data entry, and no need to learn or manage another dashboard, database, or accounting system. Here are the links to download:- For IOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scan2sheets/id6760991697- For Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.scan2s...The product's landing page: https://www.sc

Show HN: BigBlueBam, MIT-licensed Work OS where agents are first-class coworkershttps://github.com/eoffermann/BigBlueBamHi HN, Eddie here. My project BigBlueBam is a self-hosted, MIT-licensed Work OS with a unified backend with native MCP, "AI as Users" rather than bolted-on chat widgets. The deploy script will stand up the full stack (local Docker container or push it to Railway) in about the time it takes to make coffee. What's live in the build: * Bam (project management/Kanban) * Banter (chat with LiveKit voice/video) * Beacon (knowledge base with a graph view) * Brief (collaborative docs) * Board (infinite canvas whiteboard) * Bolt (workflow automation) * Bearing (goals and OKRs) * Bond (CRM) * Blast (email campaigns) * Bench (analytics and dashboards) * Book (scheduling) * Blank (forms) * Bill (invoicing) * HelpdeskThe architectural bet I cared about most: MCP is the execution substrate for the whole suite, not a "feature". 340 MCP tools (and counting) registered across the apps. Agents and Bolt automations call those tools through the same registry, same auth, same data, and the MCP tools replicat

Slow mantle flow built Antarctica gravity low over tens of millions of yearshttps://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Slow_mantle_flow_built_Antarctica_gravity_low_over_tens_of_millions_of_years_999.htmlLos Angeles CA (SPX) Feb 18, 2026 Gravity feels stable in everyday life, but its strength varies across the surface of the planet, and it is weakest beneath Antarctica after accounting for Earth rotation. These subtle variations arise from differences in rock density deep inside the planet, and around Antarctica they create a pronounced gravity low that also affects regional sea level by allowing the nearby ocean surface to sit

Show HN: Calclock, Countdown/Lifeclock, Configurablehttps://thysys.com/happy-new-year.htmlI originally built this in Visual BASIC in 1994 for a friend who was in McMurdo Base Antarctica waiting on an 'Air Drop!' that was still months away, that would bring fresh food and much-desired mail to its denizens. It was a looming event everyone was anticipating and the waiting was cruel. No shortages but the 'freshies' run out first and for long spans everyone had to eat from cans, which saps morale. People would barter for spare batteries. I said via email "Sorry I cannot help you... but HERE is something that will make the wait even harder to bear! Hopefully it will become funny after awhile." So I sent him a CALCLOCK counting down to Air Drop. For awhile I used it to countdown to various things and to make life clocks. It stopped working a long ago. It was made using 16-bit Visual BASIC so ancient it even crashes the wine emulator today. This is the 2025 rewrite. Runs everywhere, 76k self contained html using js/svg elements built on the fly.Set from-time to NOW and to-time to the

Ask HN: What is your experience of tamper proof systems?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38878579A theme in the Post Office (Horizon) scandal is that Fujitsu could amend completed till records after the fact. From hard copy printouts (receipt rolls?) to cryptography (blockchains), there are technical means to repudiate and reduce risk of amendment.I'm curious what experiences we've had with them and which ones we should using in retail systems?I'm also curious how if a privileged user did amend a database, even with an audit log of changes; whether it is likely that a user (lawyer, accountant, manager) would also be alerted to that in their interface. In paper based accounting, I believe event logs weren't really a thing. The users (accountants) knew the audit history from the records themselves and hopefully today still do: - transaction records was having records for each stage (order, invoice, payment advice, sales receipt, journal entry, credit note, etc) - completeness of records was numbered books, pages, lines - irreversible records was ink pen and stamps - verifiable was ent

Launch HN: Bedrock AI (YC S21) – Using ML to identify red flags in SEC filingshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27893182We’re Kris, Suhas, and Heather (YCS21) and we’re building Bedrock AI (https://bedrock-ai.com/). We use machine learning to extract hard-to-find information and assess risk in public company reports (SEC filings). Our platform is used by investors to improve portfolio returns and mitigate downside risks. Most public company data is unstructured and textual. Because relevant information is hard to find, a lot of corporate data is radically underused, to the detriment of investors. For example, our research shows it can take 12-18 months for corporate malfeasance to be incorporated into stock price after clear warning signs appear in financial text. Hard-to-find information that we extract includes accounting and governance choices, product defects, regulatory issues, customer/market reliance and much more. One example is Sino-Forest, Canada's Enron. Sino-Forest was a darling of Canadian investors until an infamous exposé, by short-seller Muddy Waters, in 2011. It turned out it was a forest

Programmers: Is screen-time something you worry about?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26744123Hi, long time lurker, first time poster here. This is a topic that causes me anxiety sometimes: screen-time.I've been in the industry for 3-4 years now, and from my experience at least, the screen-time of a programmer/developer/engineer in industry is way more than what I was used to while studying computer science. It's 8 hours a day on weekdays, mostly just coding and reading. Then when I get home, there's loads of life-admin stuff I do on the computer: buying, planning, accounting, tracking things, etc. With my locality's COVID lockdown, friends now want to video call after work, and I feel myself drawn into screen-based hobbies, since they're so passive and easy (NetFlix, YouTube). These are very tempting ways to kill time after a day's work.I've considered the possibility that my screen time isn't as big an issue as I think, and that I'm just living in this awkward transition between generations: the last generation viewing screens as invasive sources of addiction, and the new gene
