Launch HN: Discovered Materials (YC P26) – AI agents to discover new materialshttps://discoveredmaterials.com/research/Hey HN, we're Advaith and Akash from Discovered Materials ( https://discoveredmaterials.com/ ). We build AI agents that discover new materials for the semiconductor industry.GPUs today have a heat problem. Nvidia & AMD are almost doubling the TDP (Thermal Design Power) in every chip they release - the H100 (released 2022) has a TDP of 700W, Blackwell (2024) gives out 1.2 kW and Rubin (2026) gives out at 2.3 kW of heat. This trend is expected to continue, and getting rid of this heat is one of the major reasons datacenters consume so much power and water today - they need it to keep chips cool during operation. The amount of heat produced by a chip and its ability to dissipate it are both influenced by the materials used to make it. For example, we could reduce the energy per bit required to move data between logic and memory by 10-50x by 3D packaging chips (placing HBM memory stacks directly on top of logic chips, instead of placing them beside logic on a 2D circuit board). However, we'

Paramilitary force launches drone attacks across Sudanhttps://www.arabnews.com/node/2654334/middle-eastKHARTOUM: Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces launched drone strikes on capital Khartoum and other army-controlled cities on Wednesday, in what appeared to be their largest coordinated attack in months. Since April 2023, Sudan has been ravaged by war between its regular military, led by army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the RSF, commanded by Burhan’s former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. The capital Khartoum, which was recaptured by the army last year, has been targeted by drone strikes before but enjoyed relative calm for months.

Show HN: Kernelspace- interactive course on systems programming for LLM Servinghttps://kernelspace.naigap.com/Hi HN,*I* built kernelspace - a free and interactive course that takes a backend engineer (like me) with java/python experience to the systems level required to work on LLM serving at scale. (Mostly an attempt for me to understand what everyone's talking about lately and also an attempt at staying up to date to current tech - career wise). It has: 1. 68 Lessons across 9 tracks, with a rust-from-zero ramp. 2. 8 rust labs - BPE tokenizer, KV block manager, radix cache, batching scheduler, a toy executor 3. 9 simulators running in browser (wasm) - roofline model, KV cache pressure, continuous batching dynamics 4. Fleet week - a simulated prod serving fleetAll progresss is local - there is no server (it's served from github pages, repo here https://github.com/praveer13/kernelspace)Feedback appreciated, and contributions welcome. I want to make this a really good course for me (and everyone else like me).* (OK, I had sol and kimi on it for most part)

Show HN: Argmin, challenges for optimizing hard problemshttps://argmin.devI want to share a project I've been working on called argmin.dev. It's a platform for hard optimization problems where a solution can be checked deterministically. For a bit of background, I've always found these types of problems interesting. The really difficult optimization problems where techniques like gradient decent don't work, or where even finding a feasible solution is difficult (e.g. square packing). I've worked on these independently for fun and have created this project as a way to share the problems I find interesting with the community. I am curious to see how far others can push these. Each challenge is defined by its verifier, a program that will enforce the constraints, and evaluate the objective function. The verifiers are open-source per challenge, so users can check their solutions against it before submitting. The platform keeps a record of submissions and will update the leaderboard each time someone finds a new record. Because the verifier is the spec, any loophol

username.md
Show HN: Username.md – a signed, agent-readable identity page you ownhttps://username.md/Hi HN. I'm Chris Bergeron, an SRE by profession but a general technologist in my spare time. Projects I've built have been featured in books, frontpaged on news aggregators and chronicled on my blog.Today, I'm announcing https://username.md !username.md is a single identity URL: username.md/ - that content-negotiates on the `Accept` header. It serves an HTML profile page; an agent or curl gets Markdown, JSON, JSON-LD, or a JWT. The same URL serves different representations based on request header. So the page a human reads and the data a machine parses never drift apart. The interesting part is that every response can be signed and verified. Each handle gets an ED25519 keypair (private key AES-GCM-wrapped at rest), publishes a did:web document, and serves RFC 9421 signed responses. Claims about you — GitHub, a domain you control, an ATProto handle — are W3C Verifiable Credentials, verified before they're shown (e.g. domain ownership via a DNS-TXT challenge). So "this is really them" can
