Show HN: Kantext – A context-native data store in Rust, grounded in Githttps://www.kantext.dev/Hi HN, I'm Jason, creator of Kantext.I spent the last year exploring the concept that context is a new data type that none of our current systems were designed to handle. Context evolves with every interaction, changes shape, is deeply nested and relational, and must be deterministic. The Problem: We currently treat AI context like a storage problem (vector DBs) or a retrieval problem (RAG). But vectors destroy structure, and graphs are hard to version. When an agent hallucinates, it’s often because we fed it a "soup" of tokens rather than a structured, provenanced reality. The Solution: Kantext treats Context as a first-class data type. It’s not a wrapper; it’s a composable, layered data structure where meaning is fused into the data at declaration time.Try it: The website currently has a wasm playground (https://kantext.dev/playground) with the full composition engine available to try out through multiple scenarios. I'm working toward an open source release of the core engine soon alonFeb 19, 2026 4:50 PM

Show HN: Elecxzy – A lightweight, Lisp-free Emacs-like editor in Electronhttps://github.com/kurouna/elecxzyHi HN,I've been building elecxzy, a lightweight, Lisp-free Emacs-like editor using Electron, React, and TypeScript.I couldn't really find a modern, zero-config Emacs alternative built on web tech that drops Lisp entirely, so I decided to build my own to scratch that itch.Under the hood, it uses a custom Piece Table and virtual scrolling to handle large files smoothly. It already covers a solid set of essential Emacs commands for daily text editing: https://github.com/kurouna/elecxzy/blob/main/COMMANDLIST.mdAt the same time, I'm leveraging Electron to improve general usability. For instance, while the classic C-x C-f (minibuffer) works as expected, I also added a custom C-x M-f binding to open a native OS file dialog. It's still in an early alpha stage, but I'd love to hear your feedback on the architecture or UI!You can grab the alpha release here (A portable .zip is available if you want to try it without installing): https://github.com/kurouna/elecxzy/releasesFeb 19, 2026 11:05 AM

Show HN: Seedance3AI – a web app for text-to-video, image-to-videohttps://seedance3ai.net/Hi HN,I built Seedance3AI because I wanted a single, simple place to iterate on short visual ideas without hopping between tools. It currently supports: - text → video (short clips) - image → video (animate a reference image) - AI image generation (useful for thumbnails/storyboards)The workflow is intentionally minimal: pick a mode, set a couple of creative controls, generate, then download.Implementation notes: - [stack: e.g. Next.js + serverless API + a job queue + object storage] - [anything you learned the hard way: rate limits, retries, prompt history, etc.]What I’d love feedback on: 1) Which controls matter most (duration/aspect/seed/style, etc.) 2) Prompt UX: what’s confusing or missing 3) Any failure cases you hit (timeouts, weird outputs, etc.)[Optional: This is an independent project and not an official ByteDance/Seedance release.]Thanks!Feb 17, 2026 12:55 PM

Ask HN: Why is everyone here so AI-hyped?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46965731I get it - LLMs do have some value, but not as much as everyone (especially those from AI labs) is trying to pitch. I can't help thinking that it's so obvious we are almost at the very top of this bubble - but here it feels like the majority of HN doesn't think like that...Yet just in 2026 we had:- AI.com was sold for $70M - Crypto.com founder bought it to launch yet another "personal AI agent" platform, which promptly crashed during its Super Bowl ad debut.- MoltBook-mania - a Reddit clone where AI bots talk to each other, flooded with crypto scams and "AI consciousness" posts. 250,000+ bot posts burning compute for what actual value? [0]- OpenClaw - a "super open-source AI agent" that is a security nightmare.- GPT-5.3-Codex and Opus 2.6 were released. Reviewers note they're struggling to find tasks the previous versions couldn't handle. The improvements are incremental at best.I understand there are legitimate use cases for LLMs, but the hype-to-utility ratio seems completely out of Feb 10, 2026 7:45 PM

Show HN: ParaGopher v1.3.0 – A retro Paratrooper (1982) clone written in Gohttps://github.com/ystepanoff/ParaGopherHey HN! I've been working on ParaGopher, a clone of the classic 1982 IBM PC game Paratrooper, built in Go with Ebitengine. You control a turret defending your base against waves of helicopters dropping paratroopers. Tilt, shoot, and prevent them from landing — simple to pick up, surprisingly hard to master. Everything is rendered procedurally, so no image assets at all. Sprites (turret, helicopters, paratroopers, parachutes) are all generated with vector drawing at startup.Pre-built binaries for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows are on the releases page. Otherwise it's just go run cmd/game.go.Would love feedback (especially on gameplay feel and what features you'd want to see next).Feb 8, 2026 11:13 PM

Show HN: I built a RAG engine to search Singaporean lawshttps://github.com/adityaprasad-sudo/Explore-SingaporeI built a "Triple Failover" RAG for Singapore Laws, then rewrote the logic based on your feedback.Hi everyone!I’m a student developer. Recently, I created Explore Singapore, a RAG-based search engine that scrapes about 20,000 pages of Singaporean government acts and laws.I recently posted the MVP and received some tough but essential feedback about hallucinations and query depth. I took that feedback, focused on improvements, and just released Version 2.Here is how I upgraded the system from a basic RAG to a production-grade one.The Design & UI I aimed to avoid a dull government website.Design: Heavily inspired by Apple’s minimalist style.Tech: Custom frontend interacting with a Python backend. The V2 Engineering OverhaulThe community challenged me on three main points. Here’s how I addressed them:1. The "Personality" Fix Issue: I use a "Triple Failover" system with three models as backup. When the main model failed, the backups sounded entirely different. The Solution: I added Dynamic SFeb 7, 2026 3:58 AM

Show HN: Implementation of Google's PaperBanana (diagram generation from text)https://github.com/llmsresearch/paperbananaThe original authors haven't released code yet, so I built it from the paper. It takes a methodology section as input and generates a publication-style diagram. The pipeline uses five agents: a retriever selects reference diagrams via in-context learning, a planner drafts the layout, a stylist adjusts for conference aesthetics, a visualizer renders with Gemini, and a critic evaluates and refines over three rounds. The part that took the most effort was the reference dataset. The paper curates 292 (text, diagram, caption) tuples from 2,000 NeurIPS papers, filtering by aspect ratio and human review. Reproducing that required PDF layout extraction with MinerU, positional heuristics to identify methodology sections (paper headings are wildly inconsistent), and manual verification of each example.Output quality depends heavily on reference set quality. Requesting community to submit their papers via issues so we can add them. Quality examples in, quality output out!Runs on Gemini's free tier.Feb 4, 2026 4:16 PM
