Google’s Pixel Watch 5 is promising — but it isn’t finishedhttps://www.theverge.com/tech/981957/google-pixel-watch-5-review-wearables-smartwatchPlease clap for my Gemini-inspired nails.
The Google Pixel Watch 5 has, in many ways, been the hardest Pixel Watch to accurately review. Barely anything has changed in terms of hardware. The sizes are the same, the chips and battery got an itty-bitty boost, and there's a new pyrite satin case finish. Instead, the big updates are all software-related: This year's watch gets ambitious new health f...Aug 19, 2026 2:33 PM

Google’s Pet Memory forgot who my cats arehttps://www.theverge.com/tech/981269/google-home-gemini-pet-memory-nest-camera-reviewOne of the best things my smart home does is help me care for my pets, and security cameras are particularly useful for keeping track of my many critters. But the barrage of notifications they send often means I miss important ones. So, when Google announced its new Pet Memory feature for Gemini for Home, I thought this could be the perfect solution.

Show HN: FEDERaiDE, a TUI harness with P2P multi-agent routing and built in IDEhttps://federaide.rocklab.inHi!Federaide is a general purpose multi-agent harness that runs in your terminal. It is meant for recreational programming and automating your scripts. The agents are just named instances of language models which have their own memories, backstories et cetera, and can coordinate with each other as they require. It has its own IDE (complete with interactive structure parsing and jump to def). I am building Federaide as a solo project. Why do I build this? Some reasons:- I reached out to some people to try my other IDE, many of them did not have suitable computers (or at all).- During this time I observed almost every normal person has interacted with AI via their phones (usually the Gemini/ChatGPT app).- I felt I could bring the joy of coding to a lot more people if I could make an AI assisted IDE run on Android.- When I go to sleep I like to try out code ideas. Can't take my macbook to bed, have cats. Do have a spare Android, thought it would be nice to have a coding platform I could usAug 12, 2026 3:20 PM

Ask HN: How do you correct spatial reasoning of LLMs?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49181570I'm working on a complex multi-part 3D-printed product, and I needed some engineering input from LLMs. I use highest Gemini Pro reasoning levels, Fable, and K3 Max with everything tuned to highest. The problem I'm facing is mounting a sensor on a barbell sleeve. The sensor is a semi-hollow 100mm cylinder, 60mm diameter, with a 50mm diameter 50mm deep tube cutout for the sleeve. (It's a bit more complex than that.)I'm trying to brainstorm different clamping mechanisms, and evaluate durability and manufacturability of several designs. No matter what I try, the output of all LLMs is absolutely wild, especially if you ask to make a technical drawing. Anthropic reliably been the worst, and Gemini, surprisingly, the best. But none understand what goes where in any detail, besides spewing paragraph and paragraph of wild ideas including rotational cam clamps over a recessed ring TPU collet (apparently, a "brilliant pivot") and stuff like this.Is this the "unconquered frontier"? Do I need to blow Aug 5, 2026 11:53 AM

Show HN: Chrome Plugin to Scan HN Page Quickly. (Categorize with Local Model)https://github.com/prabhic/hn-quick-scanRecently I started spending more time reading HN posts, and engaging. Wanted to scan HN pages faster ,that rosonates to me.For me it is easy to grasp if they are in the order of software stack (Hardware, System, Infrastructure, apps, and so on ).Built this chrome plugin that uses Gemini model, to classify. It works but, classification still not great. It is built using claude code cli.on my Mac book pro, Gemini nano model loading takes around 11 seconds, and classification it self takes around 5 seconds. (if sub classification enabled it adds 6 more seconds approx). Model loaded in background thread. And unloads, if not used after 30 seconds. I would say still not pretty usable, without optimized classification time, but it works, to experiment with.Jul 23, 2026 3:20 PM

Claude Is Painfulhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48964237I cannot be the only person who feels this way. Claude is antogonistic and frankly an absolute nightmare to use. SLOW is an understatement... I get faster output from a 16GB mac mini using deepseek 8B model....and not much worse output...I ask Gemini something. I get a response in 10 seconds and its long and well detailed. I ask claude, it wastes my tokens talking to itself, makes insulting stupid and frankly rude shortcuts that have no basis in reason except for Anthropics profits...Its unuseable. It will just cough up a half complete reaponse, deciding to strip everything out of value...place nothing useful in, leave half finished files and then worst of all...it doesnt even putput them and leaves them in its own private memory...until you ask for them explocitly and it regenerates rhem again at full cost....its just pure fraud. No further notes. Thoughts?Jul 19, 2026 1:38 AM

Show HN: I blind-tested 14 LLMs on a WP plugin task. Surprising Findingshttps://github.com/guilamu/llms-wordpress-plugin-benchmark/blob/main/README.mdRecently, GitHub Copilot silently dropped support for Claude Opus on Pro accounts. Since Opus was my go-to model for my daily workflow (developing WordPress plugins), I needed a reliable replacement.I decided to run a rigorous, blind benchmark across 14 state-of-the-art and local LLMs to objectively measure which model understands WordPress development best. To ensure a perfectly fair test, I started with a completely fresh IDE and zero context for every single generation.I asked each model to build a "Gravity Forms Live Search" plugin using a minimal, zero-shot prompt. To avoid personal bias, I had Gemini 3.1 Pro blindly grade the anonymized outputs against a strict 100-point rubric, comparing them to my own reference implementation.Surprising Findings1. The "Blind Spot" (Re-inventing the wheel) Out of 14 models, exactly 0 successfully hooked into the native Gravity Forms search input (#form_list_search). Instead of analyzing the implicit context (the DOM), every single model forcefulApr 23, 2026 7:42 PM

Show HN: Agensi – Curated marketplace for AI agent skills (SKILL.md)https://www.agensi.ioHi HN. I'm Samuel, founder of Agensi (agensi.io). I'm a non-technical founder in the Netherlands. Built the platform mostly with Claude Code and Lovable over the last few months. What it is: a curated marketplace for SKILL.md skills. SKILL.md is the folder-plus-instructions format Anthropic shipped for teaching AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, and others) new capabilities. Creators publish skills, users install them into their agent. Every listing goes through an automated security scan before going live. Two things I've tried to do that felt missing from the ecosystem:1. Curation with security. Running someone else's code on your machine without review is a real risk, especially given the ToxicSkills and ClawHavoc research that came out earlier this year (36% of sampled skills had prompt injection vectors). Every skill on Agensi runs through an automated scan checking permission boundaries, outbound network requests, dependency red flags, and common malware Apr 21, 2026 9:50 AM

Show HN: Hormuz Trail - Oregon Trail parody/black-box AI coding exercisehttps://hormuztrail.com/I jokingly told a co-worker Iran might make a good Oregon Trail parody. Then I built it.I wanted to see how far I could go black-boxing the app with AI. I expected a weekend of work, but getting it right took:- Three weekends- ~ $150 in Cursor spend- $50 for asset creation (Layer.ai)Core learnings:- No single model or provider is sufficient at this point. Opus + GPT 5.4 for planning. Cursor Composer for coding. Sonnet for review and more difficult stuff. Gemini 3.1 for UI and UX- I spent probably twice as much in time and tokens as I needed to - setting up a Figma-Claude MCP feedback loop would have saved me a lot of work on UI tweaks and revisions. Knowing what I wanted when I started would (obviously) have helped too.- Layer.ai was worth it for asset generation. I'll bet I could have figured out prompts given enough time, but I was able to just jump in and make the visuals and sprites I wanted for cheap.- It's worth building out skills and commands, even for throwaway projects.- CursApr 15, 2026 4:19 PM
