Show HN: Search HN for interesting comment sectionsI built this tool to help me find interesting discussions on Hacker News. I love reading HN discussions almost more than the articles themselves. However, I found that full text search, although highly performant, is not always good at surfacing interesting discussions on a certain topic -- especially if you don't know what to search for exactly.I built this by scraping the most recent ~6 million posts (that's about 2 years of history) and putting the resulting posts and their vector embeddings into Postgres.Let me know what could be improved, and if you'd like a more detailed writeup of how this was built :)

Show HN: Chromem-go – Embeddable vector database for GoHey HN!When I wanted to build a RAG app in Go end of last year, I was surprised about the lack of options for a simple, embeddable DB.- Pinecone is proprietary / hosted ony, Qdrant and Milvus not embeddable, Chroma only embeddable in Python and Weaviate only embeddable in Python or TS/JS.- SQLite with the sqlite-vss extension and DuckDB can only be used from Go with CGO. Same for the C++ libraries Faiss, Annoy and USearch.- Some of the LangChain-style Go libraries have a rudimentary implementation, but either lacking persistence, aren't performance optimized or just generally bring a ton of dependencies due to their nature of being an orchestration library and trying to support all kinds of LLMs and third party vector stores etc.This lead me to create chromem-go, which initially took inspiration from the simple Chroma interface, but now deviating more from it:- Embeddable in Go. We met at our previous job, where we spent about a third of our life combating a constant firehose of bugs. In the hope of reducing this pain for others in the future, we’re working on automating debugging.We started by capturing information from running applications to then ‘replay’ relevant sessions later. Our approach for Python involved extensive monkey patching: we’d use OpenTelemetry-style instrumentation to hook into the request/response lifecycle, and capture anything non-deterministic (random, time, database/third-party API calls, etc.). We would then run your code again, mocking out the non-determinism with the captured values from production, which would let you fix production bugs with the local debugger experience.
