Reading a quantum clock costs more energy than running it, study findshttps://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Reading_a_quantum_clock_costs_more_energy_than_running_it_study_finds_999.htmlOxford UK (SPX) Nov 15, 2025 A study led by the University of Oxford has identified a surprising source of entropy in quantum timekeeping - the act of measurement itself. In a study published 14 Nov in Physical Review Letters, scientists demonstrate that the energy cost of reading a quantum clock far outweighs the cost of running it, with implications for the design of future quantum technologies. Show HN: I built a lightweight AI tool to analyze visitor behaviorhttps://getallinsights.comI started working on this when I realized what's wrong with tools like FullStory. I work at a B2C iGaming company in product management. We use FullStory and it has been very helpful for watching session recordings to analyze customer behavior, but also for session replays during bug investigations. However, there are a couple of problems with it. It's very expensive and very heavy because it captures all DOM changes, so it slows down the experience of the end user. For these reasons you are forced to do heavy sampling, for example record only 10% of the sessions. Apart from that, you need to spend a lot of time watching session replays, and sometimes you cannot find the session you are interested in as it might not be included in the recorded sample. This was basically the trigger for the idea. I started working on building my own tool. The idea was to make it as simple and lightweight as possible, and focus on clarity rather than adding a lot of bloat. Also worth mentioning, I have notiOct 30, 2025 2:32 PM

Show HN: The Σ-Manifold Manifestohttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45698543This project explores the connection between *the linear structure of text* and its *emotional-aesthetic impact*. We identify *five fundamental relations* between consecutive sentences — labeled *A–E*. Each represents a shift of *subject-object*, i.e., a transformation of perspective and agency. When texts grow longer, these relations form *sequences* — and from the infinite combinatorial space, *eight stable patterns (Σ₁–Σ₈)* emerge empirically. Each pattern correlates with a distinct *semantic and emotional field* — cathartic, heroic, meditative, humorous, and so on.This allows us to instruct an LLM not through semantic prompts (“write a story about…”), but through *structural commands* — e.g., generate a narrative following sequence Σ₅ (Tragic Counterpoint). You can experiment with these archetypes directly here: [Narrative Generator](https://a2tg9zwayjuqzcpdznklve.streamlit.app/~/+/#narrative-...) or [via python](https://github.com/mihendr/Echoes-of-autonomy/blob/main/TEMA...)IntereOct 24, 2025 8:04 PM

You know nothing about the attendees. Before: • Open LinkedIn, search "Sarah Chen Sequoia" • Skim profile, open 5 tabs • Google her recent activity • Try to remember talking points • Show up flustered • Total time: 15-20 minutes (if you even do it) After: • Paste calendar invite into Briefing AI • Get: Executive summary, attendee backgrounds, company context, talking points, red flags • Walk in prepared • Total time: 30 seconds THE TECH: • Next.js 15 + Cloudflare Pages (serverless) • Brave Search API (real company/attendee data, not just AI hallucinations) • GPT-4 (parsing + generation) • Device fingerprinting (1 free briefingOct 21, 2025 3:12 PM

Show HN: I made a clipboard-triggered YouTube summarizer (no paste, 2 taps)https://apps.apple.com/us/app/esse-ai-video-summarizer/id6751778111How it works:Copy a YouTube link → open app → it auto-detects from clipboard, pulls metadata + transcript, and generates a structured summary (key points + narrative) in seconds. No inputs, no pasting, no prompting. Supports 60+ languages for summaries, the video's language doesn't matter. Why I built:I had an endless queue of educational videos but no time to sit through rambling or clickbait. ChatGPT flow = copy → open → paste → prompt → pray it formats correctly. Existing summarizers felt feature-bloated or unreliable. I wanted something super minimalist: “clipboard → value” on repeat.Decisions:Stack — React Native 0.81 (New Arch) + TypeScriptClipboard trick— Monitors clipboard on app start/resume — no manual pasteCaching— Stores transcripts + summaries in AsyncStorage with metadata— fast image library prevents repetitive refetchingAPIs— YouTube metadata— Third-party transcript provider (exploring Whisper)— OpenAI for summarizationOutput— Structured prompts → consistent format acrossOct 16, 2025 3:39 PM

Show HN: Photowand – Turn selfies into professional photos with AIhttps://photowand.aiHey HN! I built this over a weekend after a frustrating experience with our wedding photographer. We paid $5,000 and got back a few dozen photos. The colors were off in several shots – too warm, inconsistent lighting, some faces looked washed out. I wanted to fix them myself, but photo editing is incredibly complicated. Photoshop has hundreds of buttons, layers, masks, adjustment curves. I spent hours watching YouTube tutorials just to adjust colors on one photo. There had to be a better way.So I built Photowand. What it does: Upload any photo, describe what you want in plain English, and get professional-quality results in ~20 seconds. "Fix the colors and lighting" or "change background to beach sunset" or "make this look like a professional headshot." No Photoshop skills needed.Try it without signup: photowand.aiHow it compares to existing AI tools:vs ChatGPT: - Better photorealistic quality (specialized model, not general-purpose) - 4x faster processing (20 seconds vs 80+ seconds) - BOct 6, 2025 4:22 PM
