Show HN: Playful orbit trap fractal explorer (desktop)Hey HN! I've been working on a new render engine for our company for a while now, and I wanted to see if I can create an easy to use, playful interface for exploring orbit trap fractals. There are a lot of things happening under the hood: I wrote a runtime type system in TS that generates both shader code and a UI, allowing me to quickly iterate on new features and experiment easily. The renderer is based on regl (https://regl-project.github.io/). I've adapted regl to support WebGL2. I tried to use a functional, declarative approach, where input data is transformed into draw calls. I'm using my own custom cache system that smartly tries to cache assets (like images and geometry data) between draw calls.I'm curious what you think of it! Let me know in the comments if you have ideas for more features, fractals, etc. I'd also love to know if you encounter any bugs! Here is a blog post that I made, describing the features and underlaying math in layman terms: https://blog.repper.app/introduc

Ask HN: Game where every player can claim they made a real museum artifact?I'm prototyping a short indie game with an unusual narrative structure.Technically, it's completely harmless. Culturally, it might provoke some discomfort.I'm going to build this, but I want to sanity-check with this community first.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The Structure ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━The game is set in an afterlife where everyone is a skeleton. No death. No game over. Just a lighthearted adventure.During the game, the player assembles a crystal skull. In the ending, this skull is depicted as being swapped with a real crystal skull held by a famous museum — one that's historically labeled "inauthentic" and has been the subject of academic debate for decades.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What Happens (and Doesn't Happen) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━Nothing happens in reality. The game: - Doesn't access external data - Doesn't connect to the internet - Doesn't contact any museum - Doesn't claim anything factualAll code stays strictly inside the game. But after finishing, every player can make this joke:"That museum's sku

Tell HN: Amazon has deactivated my seller accountI sell 3d printed sleeves to attach an Apple Airtag to a Samsung TV remote. But Amazon thinks I am selling a Samsung device and has deactivated me for IP violations. My listings are very clear that this is FOR a Samsung device, and not an actual Samsung device. But Amazon's automated system can't figure it out. I am following their IP guidelines for compatible products (section 6C - https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GZUQ6GBBXQVHQKF2):You can see one of my listings here:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHZVVL1HEvery time I listed a new product for a different TV remote, my item would be flagged, but then I would go in and make a small edit, and that seemed to trigger some sort of review, and everything would be great.Until last week, out of nowhere, my account has been deactivated. To reinstate my account, they asked me to submit an authorization letter from the manufacturer or brand owner authorizing me to sell their products. Well, I figured, I am the manufacturer, so I wr

Show HN: Interactive semantic map and analysis of Hacker News stories in 2025Thought making one of these cluster maps would be interesting. Used Nomic embeddings, HDBSCAN, and UMAP, with Gemma 3 27B (via Ollama) to label the clusters. Looked into the dataset to find the most active posting times, popular domains that were posted, and other trends from this past yearWrite-up and other findings: https://lincolnmaxwell.com/p/clustering-hackernews-2025/Interactive map: https://hackernews-clustered-2025.labs.lincolnmaxwell.com/Heads up: the map is about ~20mb in size (~7mb transfer over network) - don’t use on a metered connectionAMA!

Show HN: See the carbon impact of your cloud as you codeHey folks, I’m Hassan, one of the co-founders of Infracost (https://www.infracost.io). Infracost helps engineers see and reduce the cloud cost of each infrastructure change before they merge their code. The way Infracost works is we gather pricing data from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. What we call a ‘Pricing Service’, which now holds around 9 million live price points (!!). Then we map these prices to infrastructure code. Once the mapping is done, it enables us to show the cost impact of a code change before it is merged, directly in GitHub, GitLab etc. Kind of like a checkout-screen for cloud infrastructure. We’ve been building since 2020 (we were part of YC W21 batch), and iterating on the product, building out a team etc. However, back in 2020 one of our users asked if we can also show the carbon impact alongside costs. It has been itching my brain since then. The biggest challenge has always been the carbon data. The mapping of carbon data to infrastructure

Can small microfactories make fast fashion economically viable at low MOQ?I'm exploring a concept for small-scale apparel microfactories aimed at reducing inventory risk and lowering minimum order quantities (MOQ) for fast fashion brands.Rough assumptions: - Target throughput: ~200 garments per day per microfactory cell. - Goal: reduce MOQ from hundreds per SKU to
