NASA must act now to ensure U.S. leadership in spacehttps://spacenews.com/nasa-must-act-now-to-ensure-u-s-leadership-in-space/Jared Isaacman made something unmistakably clear during his confirmation hearing as NASA Administrator: time is not on America’s side. Ask HN: Better places to work for burntout SWE?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46211822I've tried my share of startups and megacorps, FAANGs. I am in a stage where I cringe on hearing a mission is so important that it needs a 996 culture. I also hate work getting stolen in the name of collaboration and politics in general thats daily business in Megacorps. I just want to bang out code, mentor juniors and deliver value in a small team that doesn't have an unhealthy obsession with growth or overworking. Maybe with rich founders who don't want to get more rich.Where can I find good places to work, especially in the US that offer: 1. Remote first setting 2. Mission oriented like Privacy, non-profit background etc (or Open Source with proven history) 3. Holocracy/Flat structureI think the above 3 criteria will really narrow down places that prioritize mission over growth/profits and automatically not pay a lot yet have a higher technical bar that deters a lot of folks who would end up optimizing for things that lead to a mess. Am I looking for a Unicorn?

Show HN: Cutmuse – AI tool for haircut recommendations by face shapehttps://www.cutmuse.com/Hi HN,A few months ago, I started building Cutmuse after hearing the same thing over and over from friends and family:“I never know what haircut suits me.”The idea was to create a tool that uses AI and facial analysis to recommend personalized haircuts, hair colors, and even glasses based on each user’s unique features. You upload a photo (no login required or payment for the free version), and within minutes get a custom style report that includes:Haircuts that fit your face shapeHair color suggestions based on your skin toneEyewear styles that match your proportionsAnd optional grooming/skincare tipsThis isn't like Instagram filters or beauty apps that overlay random looks. What makes Cutmuse different is the depth of the analysis. It applies real visagism principles — a method used in professional image consulting — combined with facial landmark detection and color analysis to give you results that are not just aesthetic, but structured. We're currently live with users in 10+ countrie

Ask HN: How can we improve diagnosis and treatment of chronic health conditions?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31101899I'm in my late 30s, and over the last 10+ years I've grown increasingly pessimistic about the quality of care for chronic and degenerative conditions in the U.S. I'm reasonably well now, but I've had a number of issues I've had trouble shaking over the years. Things that are pretty common among my peers and others I talk to, like sleep issues, anxiety, depression, fatigue, digestive issues, autoimmune conditions, etc. Low grade stuff you can live with, but that bugs you for years while reducing quality of life. Doctors like to give vague sounding terms to these kind of things so they can convince the patient they know what the hell they're doing, like IBS and major depressive disorder. But from what I've seen via personal experience, hearing from friends and family, and from reading countless reports online, doctors don't have a good handle on treating these chronic conditions. In fact, I'd say our treatment of chronic and degenerative disease is downright barbaric. And it doesn't matte
