I made this app 'Mind Influence Lab' for experimenting consciousness hypothesishttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47472145I built an Android app for running structured mind-matter interaction experiments on your own device, modelled on the PEAR Lab methodology. I want to be upfront: the scientific consensus does not support the hypothesis this tests, and I am not claiming otherwise. But the effect size documented in prior literature (Cohen's h ≈ 0.002) is small enough that it cannot be tested in a few sessions, it requires sustained longitudinal data collection. No tool existed for this on a personal device, so I built one. What it does: generates binary sequences from either device CSPRNG (local entropy) or quantum RNG sourced from vacuum fluctuation measurements via Cisco Outshift's API, records six simultaneous environmental sensor channels (magnetometer, barometer, ambient sound, WiFi RSSI, Bluetooth variance), computes z-scores per session and per phase following PEAR's four-phase protocol structure, and stores everything in a local vault for longitudinal analysis. Three protocols test different hypo

Show HN: Swipeforsex.com – an experiment in honesty in dating appshttps://www.swipeforsex.com/I bought the domain swipeforsex.com mostly because I thought the name was funny.Instead of parking or selling it, I decided to build a small experiment around it: a dating site that removes the usual pretending and focuses on what many dating apps quietly optimize for anyway. The idea was simple: what happens if you remove the euphemisms and make the intent explicit? The project is intentionally minimal. I built it quickly just to test whether people would actually use something this direct or if the entire premise would fail.I'm mostly curious about two things:1. Whether the blunt positioning changes user behavior compared to typical dating apps. 2. Whether the domain itself drives curiosity traffic.Would love feedback from HN about the idea, UX, or whether this is a terrible concept.Happy to answer any technical or product questions.

Show HN: Experimenting with perspective-based discussions (city,country,global)https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47244802Hi HN,I’ve been working on a project called CivicHalls and wanted to share it here. The starting question behind Civic was simple:What if people could control the perspective through which they explore conversations online instead of relying on algorithmic feeds? Most social platforms today optimize feeds around engagement. While that can be effective for discovery, it often means the feed gradually becomes shaped by what drives reactions rather than what helps people explore ideas more intentionally.CivicHalls is a small experiment in structuring discussions differently.Instead of a single algorithmic feed, Civic organizes conversations around “lenses” — perspectives such as philosophy, technology, economics, politics, culture, anything you want really.Users can switch lenses to explore discussions through different viewpoints. The same conversation might appear under multiple lenses, allowing people to navigate ideas based on perspective rather than engagement signals.Another design id

Show HN: Interactive Periodic Table with Experimentshttps://grundamnen.nuI built an interactive periodic table with accessible facts and visuals. My son has recently been studying a children's encyclopedia of chemical elements and found it very interesting. The encyclopedia is in Swedish but he also speaks English so I noticed he, understandably, cannot identify some elements by their English name when it's too unlike Swedish (such as sulfur being svavel in Swedish). At first I made a quick bilingual periodic table for him and then started expanding it with various visuals. My aim was to have a fact about each element and a simple experiment visualization, some elements have more. The table retains an English-Swedish toggle. All elements have an experiment animation such as a flame test, radioactivity or alkaline water explosion. The first two rows have real world pictures related to the elements, which take a bit to find and describe. I don't have any background in chemistry but have hopefully avoided basic mistakes.I tried to keep the text educational but

Laser experiment proposed to probe quantum nature of gravityhttps://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Laser_experiment_proposed_to_probe_quantum_nature_of_gravity_999.htmlBerlin, Germany (SPX) Dec 17, 2025 Researchers at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf have outlined an experiment in which light exchanges discrete packets of energy with gravitational waves, potentially revealing the long-sought quantum properties of gravity. In the proposed scheme, a laser beam interacts with a passing gravitational wave so that the light loses or gains an energy amount corresponding to one or more gravitons,
