AI is supercharging fake workhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47347983As anyone with an internet connection knows, there’s been a lot of buzz about how AI is going to reshape the workforce for the past 3 years and layoffs due to “AI” have already started, the most severe of which came last week as Block announced they were chopping off 40% of their workforce for what sounded more like the potential that AI could replace workers as opposed to it actually being able to. There has been a (in my opinion) healthy dose of skepticism regarding the claim that AI is going to make us more productive and these productivity gains are going to put people out of work. I think this skepticism has been felt by many of whom work in tech companies where AI is literally being force-fed to us, and I wonder how much of this skepticism would apply to other companies and the workforce in general. OK, so…1. I elevate them. I validate them. That is just my personality type.But I keep finding out that people go out of their way to say something negative about me. The way I find out is through my boss. My boss then addresses it with me.Today I found out a former manager who worked here for only two months on our team told my boss that I was on my phone all day and taking call after call. I know what day this was because she even mentioned the topic I was talking about (i.e., I was getting a lumber quote for a personal project; call lasted maybe two minutes). That was the ONLY call I took that day, and I hate being on my phone during. Instead, the problem is that the model is reasoning from a stale state.ABP is designed to keep the acting agent synchronized with the browser at every step. After each action (click, type, etc), it freezes JavaScript execution and rendering, then captures the resulting state. It also compiles the notable events that occurred during that action loop, such as navigation, file pickers, permission prompts, alerts, and downloads, and sends that along with a screenshot of the frozen page state back to the agent.The result is that browser interaction starts to feel more like a multimodal chat loop. The agent takes an action, gets back a fresh visual state and a structured summary of what happened, then decides what to do next from there. And with power tools came a proliferation of hardware stores to support all the people suddenly empowered to try their hand.To take the analogy further, agents are like factories. Yes the drill can do the work on it's own, when it's on an assembly line, getting exactly the right part at the right time at the right angle. But it is insanely hard and expensive to set up a factory, and when it is done, it produces one thing.Shit will change. But that is exactly what I liked about this industry to begin with. And people are highly motivated by fear, so the manipulators and influencers peddle it for all they are worth. There is nothing to fear here.
