Show HN: Zarathustra – AI-powered sales research in 60 secondshttps://www.zarathustra.network/Hi all,I'm a first-time startup founder genuinely looking for your brutal honesty and sincere feedback.I’ve been building a tool that’s designed to save salespeople time on company research. Essentially, I created it to solve a real pain point my team had internally during sales outreach—we were wasting tons of time researching companies and prospects to craft personalized messages. So, I built something that does it in under 60 seconds. After some friends encouraged me to share it publicly, I made it available for others to use because this problem seemed to resonate with a lot of people in subreddits and casual conversations. The tool works like this: you type in any company link, optionally share a little about what you do, and it generates a detailed sales report for free. The sales report includes things like key insights, target audience, products and services, engagement strategies etc. While our internal team loves it and it saves us a ton of time, something feels off since we lauMar 24, 2025 3:24 PM

Launch HN: Cuckoo (YC W25) – Real-time AI translator for global teamshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43245153Hey HN! We’re Yong Hee and Gunwoo from Cuckoo (https://cuckoo.so), a real-time AI translator for global sales, marketing, and support. Companies like Snowflake and PagerDuty use us in Zoom calls and in-person meetings, including for technical discussions. Here’s a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKU1fj3rxh4.With Cuckoo, you get an always-available, real-time translator that adapts to your conversations, helping teams avoid wasted time from language frictions.Language barriers are still a big challenge for companies with offices in different countries. I experienced this firsthand at my previous company in Korea when I invited international speakers to our meetups. Much of the nuance and technical details were lost, even though many attendees spoke adequate English. Speakers often felt isolated, unable to understand Korean discussions, and missed out on opportunities to network and market their products—despite these events being organized for customer interactions.Meetings with iMar 3, 2025 6:39 PM

Ask HN: Do you have "confidence"? In spite of your issues, how can you have it?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43166524I’m not a confident person. I never have been, I’m 30 now and have just suffered some major setbacks lately: partner left me, took the dog, lost my job, diagnosed with ADHD, diagnosed with arthritis, got skinny-fat, realised my parents abused me growing up … etcBut I always challenge myself harder when I have setbacks, so I have grit: I got a new better job in a new role, I started back at gym and hitting it hard, started cardio 6 days a week and weightlifting 3 days, social soccer and badminton, reached out to remaining friend (singular), started therapy, started doing fun activities on weekends, started trying to be more social and talk to people, switched to a dumb phone, got rid of social media, eating healthy, sober for 1.5 years. But I’m so awkward. And I’m so unconfident in myself. I never feel in control. I feel like I’m a people pleaser even though I have hard morals. I’m always kind to people and smile and nice, polite in conversation and ask people about themselves. But I reaFeb 25, 2025 12:11 AM

Would a points-based system improve content quality, or just kill engagement?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43085384Hey everyone, I’m building a business community platform for SME owners & entrepreneurs We’re exploring a points-based system to improve content/discussion quality and really like to get some feedback since this is a forum and I believe it is an issue you may have faced either here or elsewhere. So hope you can give me some feedback. The goal is to encourage high-value contributions. Here’s the idea:1) Everyone starts with 50-100 points. Users earn points when their posts/comments get likes. 2) Posting articles, commenting in “serious discussions” or posting anonymously costs points (e.g., 10 points per comment). 3) Users can still post normally, but "serious discussions" would require either points or LinkedIn Profile displayed (SSO sign in) to encourage more genuine conversations - striking a balance while still allowing for anonymity to a certain extent until they earn more points via quality conversations.Essentially, we are trying to see how best to achieve the best of both worlds -Feb 18, 2025 2:13 AM

Increasing Commoditization and Financialization of Human Relationships (2040)https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43071953By the 2020s, social media had already cheapened friendship. Facebook and Instagram had turned relationships into engagement metrics, where likes, follows, and comments became the new currency of social interaction. But people wanted more than empty gestures—they wanted meaningful connections. Companies capitalized on this demand by tiering relationships.By the 2030s, the first Friendship-as-a-Service (FaaS) platforms launched. Basic-tier friends could like posts and send generic birthday messages. Premium friends remembered personal details and engaged in deep conversations. VIP-tier friendships guaranteed emotional availability during crises, with on-demand listening sessions and scheduled check-ins. These services were cheaper than maintaining real human relationships, and as AI outperformed humans in companionship, friendship itself became a marketable asset.AI-driven friendship platforms analyzed user sentiment, engagement frequency, and emotional return-on-investment (EROI), offeFeb 16, 2025 9:38 PM

Reimagining CRMs with AI: A Bootstrapped SaaS Founder's Journeyhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42590047I wanted to share the lessons I’ve learned bootstrapping a SaaS aimed at solving a problem I saw firsthand in the real estate CRM space. My journey started in customer support at a real estate CRM company, helping agents on their worst days—when their software failed them and they lost commissions because of it. These conversations taught me more about the frustrations, struggles, and needs of agents than I ever could’ve learned from surveys or user research alone.Later, I moved to outbound sales (yes, cold-calling!) and saw what made some agents light up and others groan. My bosses wanted me to focus on closing deals, but I cared more about whether the product would genuinely help someone.I realized the CRM space wasn’t just broken, it was outdated and bloated, causing agents to spend more time managing the tool than selling homes.A few lessons I learned along the way: 1. For 90% of agents who struggle it’s a 'systems' problem, not just a CRM problem: Legacy CRMs store data without helJan 3, 2025 10:17 PM

Ask HN: Living room video conferencing for older adultshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42443258Hi HN - I'm looking for suggestions that will allow me to video conference with aging parents as easily and naturally as possible. Ideal solution would have little configuration, easy to answer, and would allow us to chat using a living room TV and webcam with auto-tracking. Ideally multiple people at each side could participate. Using mobile phones and WhatsApp is getting tiring and isn't a very natural conversation. Thanks for any ideas!Dec 17, 2024 5:28 PM
