Show HN: Generative Graphics LLM Benchmarkhttps://www.ggbench.com/I’ve been obsessed with code-driven graphics since my first ellipse() in Processing. There’s something magical about watching a few lines of code bloom into motion—clean, crisp, and totally reproducible. With GGBench, I’m turning that obsession into a public benchmark for AI-generated graphics.GGBench is a benchmarking platform to compare graphics produced by AI—especially code that renders visuals (still and animated). You vote on side-by-side outputs, and we rank models with an ELO system (the same concept chess uses). It’s simple, transparent, and designed to push the whole field forward. Why this benchmark needs to exist Most LLMs are fantastic at writing code, but they’re basically flying blind: they can’t actually see what they produce. They output p5.js or Three.js scripts and call it a day. Whether that code renders beautifully—or at all—has been tricky to evaluate at scale.Meanwhile, video diffusion models chew through compute to produce every pixel of every frame. Claude Code/Cursor is using grep? Are we devolvinghttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44529677Every AI coding tool has a search problem.Claude uses grep. Cursor does basic vector search. Context retrieval? Honestly, pretty mediocre. As a co-founder of a vector database company, I’ve realized: the only way to understand real developer pain is to use these tools every day — not just sit in strategy meetings.Tried Claude Code. Loved the idea: delegating tasks from the terminal feels magical. But hit a wall fast — grep-based search doesn’t understand semantics. It finds strings, not meaning.Cursor? A good start with vector search, but still shallow. No deep understanding of code structure or intent. That pain point became our opportunity. The more I used Claude, Cursor, Windsurf… the clearer it became: AI tools lack true semantic code understanding. So we built Code Indexer CLI:One-click indexing of your codebaseFast, semantic retrievalNative support for all major AI coding toolsWe’re not just fixing search — we’re building a better foundation for AI coding. Show HN: Cutmuse – AI tool for haircut recommendations by face shapehttps://www.cutmuse.com/Hi HN,A few months ago, I started building Cutmuse after hearing the same thing over and over from friends and family:“I never know what haircut suits me.”The idea was to create a tool that uses AI and facial analysis to recommend personalized haircuts, hair colors, and even glasses based on each user’s unique features. You upload a photo (no login required or payment for the free version), and within minutes get a custom style report that includes:Haircuts that fit your face shapeHair color suggestions based on your skin toneEyewear styles that match your proportionsAnd optional grooming/skincare tipsThis isn't like Instagram filters or beauty apps that overlay random looks. What makes Cutmuse different is the depth of the analysis. It applies real visagism principles — a method used in professional image consulting — combined with facial landmark detection and color analysis to give you results that are not just aesthetic, but structured. We're currently live with users in 10+ countrieJun 22, 2025 4:56 AM

Show HN: I built an app that auto-shares your referral codes for passive rewardshttps://www.refer-app.com/Hi HN,I built REFER, a tool that helps people automatically share their referral codes where others are searching for them. It’s not a marketplace or a link tree—users just enter the codes they already have (for apps like Webull, Rakuten, Robinhood, etc.), and REFER distributes them for discoverability. The goal is to make it easier for people to earn from referral programs without constantly promoting links themselves. Why I built it: I noticed a lot of folks—including creators and casual users—have valuable referral codes sitting unused. Most people either don’t know where to post them, or they end up buried in social media bios or YouTube descriptions. I wanted to make something that quietly works in the background to surface these codes without requiring extra effort or marketing.I designed and built REFER solo. It uses Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, MongoDB, Stripe (for optional paid tiers), and Auth0 for authentication. All code is deployed on Vercel. What's different: All codes are May 8, 2025 1:03 PM

Show HN: Pressure – a simple 2D board game in JavaScripthttps://ilmenit.github.io/pressure/I'm a fan of minimalistic design and I tried to make an "easy to learn, hard to master" 2D board game.Pressure is played on a 5×5 grid with 12 tokens total. The key mechanic is a "push" feature where tokens can displace entire lines of other tokens if there's an empty space at the end of the line. When opponent tokens are pushed, they become inactive for one turn. Capture occurs when tokens are surrounded on all four sides. After analyzing gameplay data, I found Pressure has an average branching factor of 11.5, which is higher than Othello (10) and Checkers (2.8), though lower than Chess (35). Its game tree complexity is approximately 10^57, placing it remarkably close to Othello (10^58) and much higher than Checkers (10^40), despite the smaller board size. The state space complexity appears to be in the range of 10^20, comparable to Checkers, which is notable given Pressure uses a 5×5 grid versus Checkers' 8×8 board. Chess and Othello have higher state spaces at 10^44 and 10^28 respectiApr 2, 2025 11:57 AM

Show HN: Prism – An AI-Driven Generative Art System That Evolves over Timehttps://github.com/P-R-I-S-M-PROJECT/P.R.I.S.MHey HN,I’m excited to share PRISM, an open-source system we’ve been building that fuses multiple AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic, and FAL API) with Processing to create evolving geometric art and static images. The idea came from our fascination with how AI can generate new forms but often lacks a memory or evolutionary approach. PRISM aims to solve that by “remembering” past successes and failures and then adapting its creative approach over time + useful for automating batches and variations of specific styles of techniques with prompt adjusting.*Key Features:* - Multi-model AI Generation: Code and images produced by GPT-like models, Claude variants, and FAL Flux. - Evolutionary Memory: Each pattern generation is analyzed; successful techniques become more likely in future generations. - Processing Integration: Animations are rendered via Processing on Windows (with plans to expand cross-platform). - Interactive Menu System: Easy to navigate, choose models, generate single/batch patternJan 24, 2025 7:20 AM
