But I've always been disappointed by how browsers render it, with gaping spaces that distract me to the point of making the text near unreadable.Browsers have got better recently at handling justified text [0], but still are not near that TeX/InDesign level of quality that I crave.Inspired by running headfirst into disappointment with how text justification looked on a recent project site of mine, and by Oskar Wickström's "Proportional Web" [1], I decided to make a drop in js library that justifies text at least as well as TeX can, all with a single import.Justif also has the benefit of providing consistent text layout across browsers. Blink (Chrome), Gecko (Firefox) and WebKit (Safari) all justify text differently, so normally what the user sees depends on what browser they use.Take a look at the demo, play around with it, try some different browsers. And yes, there are a lot of ways, all of them very buggy. I started drawing a series of images, and wanted to combine them into a video to post into social media.The first iteration I did was manually mangling FFmpeg commands to loop GIFs over n seconds, before combining them into a video. After that I thought, I might as well make a web application to help make this easier.Ironically, the videos I created in my Firefox Windows appears to be unplayable, which prompted me to go full circle, by importing a FFmpeg WASM to fix the file.But it was definitely interesting to see how the JS code work to splice GIFs into image data, replaying it over a canvas, which then feeds to a WebCodec. They all go through the same pipeline: global URL rewrites, tracker parameter stripping, rule matching (domain / prefix / regex / source app), per-browser rewrites, then either open or show a picker at the cursor. Things I cared about that other pickers don't quite get right:- Browser profiles as first-class targets. A rule can send a URL to "Chrome, Profile 3" or "Firefox, Work container" - not just "Chrome". Seems obvious; somehow nobody else does it properly.- Source-app matching. GitHub links from Slack route differently than GitHub links from Messages. In Chrome or Firefox you can just hit F12 and choose the "Network" tab before loading the site, scroll halfway down to click on the 'tnt.js?userProfile=' request, and look at the "Response" data to see your address.Inconveniently, it doesn't fill in the form to save customers' some unnecessary typing. I would like to turn this into a more general lookup service, making a few requests in a command-line python program instead of opening a browser, but I'm having trouble figuring out what sequence of requests, headers, and post data is needed to get it to work in isolation.
