Show HN: ICT – New Information Model for Matter Time Consciousness (Experiment)https://www.academia.edu/s/8924eff666TL;DR: ICT (Information–Consciousness–Time) treats matter as fixed information, consciousness as the rate of informational change, and time as the structuring of this change. The model unexpectedly drew interest from researchers in information physics (feedback below) and includes three concrete falsifiable experiments.1. Core IdeaThree base relations:1. Matter = fixed information M = I_fixed2. Consciousness = rate of informational change C ∝ dI/dT3. Reality = interaction of stable and flowing information R = f(I_fixed, dI/dT)This connects to Landauer’s limit, free-energy principle, Bekenstein bounds, and integrated-information concepts, but treats information itself as the fundamental physical substrate.2. Time as informational processIn ICT, time is:> “The transition of potential information into structured experience.”This links phenomenological time, physical time, and informational/computational time. Consciousness “shapes” this transition → generating an effective local arrow of

The EU Space Act: a call for true strategic fairnesshttps://spacenews.com/the-eu-space-act-a-call-for-true-strategic-fairness/Before we start, a caveat: The following opinion is only relevant in a situation where the EU, together with its member states, would eventually decide to invest enough to equip itself with space capabilities commensurate with Europe’s economic importance, the role it wants to play in the world and current security threats (meaning: significantly more […] The post The EU Space Act: a call for true strategic fairness appeared first on SpaceNews.

X-MAT introduces X-FOAM: A game-changing ceramic foam for extreme environmentshttps://www.spacedaily.com/reports/X-MAT_introduces_X-FOAM_A_game-changing_ceramic_foam_for_extreme_environments_999.htmlOrlando, FL (SPX) Dec 01, 2025 X-MAT has announced the release of X-FOAM, a 1,300°C ceramic foam engineered for use in harsh environments demanding high thermal insulation and structural performance. This machinable ceramic foam has a thermal conductivity of only 0.034 W/m·K, on par with some aerogel products; but is stiff and hard, with a compressive strength in the hundreds to thousands of PSI. It is also very light, with a density of only 0.15g/cc, seven times less dense than water.

Right now Twitter/X is required because it adds a sense of real-ness to the pins. I could imagine other globes for other social networks, but I think the lack of overlap is a feature.

Show HN: The $1B problem with business cards nobody's solving properlyhttps://yenhyia.buzzchat.site/88% of business cards are thrown away within a week. The average professional collects 200+ business cards per year. That's 176 contacts lost. If even 10% could've been valuable connections, we're talking about massive opportunity cost.I got obsessed with this problem after watching my own business card graveyard grow. Built a real-time networking platform (Yenhyia) that makes business cards irrelevant. The insight: The problem isn't paper vs digital cards. It's the entire networking workflow.Traditional flow: 1. Arrive at event blind 2. Random encounters 3. Awkward small talk 4. Exchange cards 5. Cards go in pocket/wallet/trash 6. Never follow upNew flow with Yenhyia: 1. See attendees before event (prep who to meet) 2. Match based on goals (mutual opt-in) 3. Chat starts with context (you both chose each other) 4. Meet in person (not random, intentional) 5. Digital card auto-shared in chat thread 6. Contact synced to phone, conversation history preservedThe technical interesting bits:- B

A three-layer memory architecture for long-running agentshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46097759Anthropic's recent piece on effective harnesses for long-running agents hit close to home. We've been wrestling with the same problems — agents that try to one-shot everything, declare victory prematurely, and leave chaos for the next session to clean up. But we solved some of these problems differently. Here's what's working for us, what isn't yet, and where we respectfully disagree with the proposed solutions. The Memory Problem: Three Layers Beat One Anthropic's solution is a progress.txt file plus git history. It works, but it's flat. We use three layers instead: Layer 1: Model actualization. A semantic memory system that helps the orchestrating agent understand "what are we building and why." This is the soft layer. Layer 2: Think Jira meets Git, but for AI agents. Structured storage of tasks with metadata: blockers, decision paths, dependencies, progress state. The agent doesn't just know what to do next — it understands the logic of how we got here and where we're going. Layer 3:

Show HN: I Recreated the Windows Longhorn (2004) Aurora Effect in HTML5 Canvashttps://github.com/brainvine/longhorn-auroraI've spent some time reverse-engineering and recreating the original "Aurora" animation from the unreleased Windows Longhorn Build 4074 (2004).For those unfamiliar: Longhorn was the precursor to Vista. It promised a revolutionary UI based on the Avalon engine (WPF). The Aurora effect was a key part of this "Aero" vision, meant to be rendered procedurally without hitting the CPU too hard.In the leaked Build 4074, the effect was technically broken/hidden because the default "Jade" theme didn't support it, and the BAML (Binary Application Markup Language) files used a deprecated format that the system parser couldn't handle properly.I took the original XAML definitions and logic and ported them 1:1 to modern HTML5 Canvas shapes and animations. It’s a tribute to the Microsoft pioneers who were working on "Liquid Glass" aesthetics 21 years before it became a trend again. It runs entirely in the browser. Added some nice toggles as wellThe code is open source, enjoy the nostalgia trip!Github:

The melting ice raises average global sea level, alters ocean currents and affects temperatures in places far from the poles. But melting ice sheets don't affect sea level and temperatures in the same way everywhere. In a new study, our team of scientists investigated how ice melting in Antarctica affects global climate

Show HN: A Low-Level Bluetooth Hid Remote for Blind Mobile UI Macroinghttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46086952As a former insomniac and engineer, I built this simple, battery-operated HID remote to solve a specific, recurring problem: the unavoidable light exposure and cognitive effort required to skip mobile app ads or sponsor reads while trying to fall asleep. The simple act of fumbling with a bright screen destroys melatonin production, actively sabotaging one's sleep hygiene protocol. The Problem with Standard HID Standard Bluetooth media remotes fail this use case because they rely on the Next Track code, which often skips the entire episode in popular podcast players. They also cannot interact with proprietary UI elements like in-app skip buttons or YouTube's "Skip Ad" overlays. The HID standard and the consumer controls usage table does not include time skipping. The Technical Solution: Pointer Anchoring and UI Macroing This device implements a custom protocol to achieve reliable, precise, and blind UI interaction across both iOS and Android:Low-Level Reports: The firmware leverages basic
