With a 5 figures investment, I chose Coinbase's Vault for "security" without the cold wallet setup hassle. I setup my email and phone number as the standard Signatories, loaded up my vault.But this "No hassle" option became a horror show.One month after setting up, I was blocked from accessing my Vault by a mysterious OTP pop-up that claimed to have sent me an OTP which never came. As an engineer, I signed in on my desktop and using inspect-element, found out some weird JS blocking the OTP request button from actually sending the OTP — odd, but I wrote it off as a bug and moved on.Zoom to August 2023: Coinbase sends me an email that my region will no longer be supported. Few days later, they inform me I must go through a KYC process to keep using Coinbase, which I powered through. Post-KYC, my Vault's back, but guess what? We met at our previous job, where we spent about a third of our life combating a constant firehose of bugs. In the hope of reducing this pain for others in the future, we’re working on automating debugging.We started by capturing information from running applications to then ‘replay’ relevant sessions later. Our approach for Python involved extensive monkey patching: we’d use OpenTelemetry-style instrumentation to hook into the request/response lifecycle, and capture anything non-deterministic (random, time, database/third-party API calls, etc.). We would then run your code again, mocking out the non-determinism with the captured values from production, which would let you fix production bugs with the local debugger experience. You might recognize this as a variant of omniscient debugging. After Powered Descent Initiation occurred at 5:11 PM CST, Odysseus’s main engine fired for approximately eleven minutes, bringing the vehicle down for a soft landing on the lunar highlands at 5:23 CST. Despite a slight pointing error which delayed acquisition of signal, the lander was confirmed to be on the surface and transmitting a few minutes after touchdown. At a press conference on February 23rd, Intuitive Machines CEO Stephen Altemus reported that the team currently believes the lander to be lying on its side, but otherwise intact.
