They cannot move or be removed. Every row and every column contains exactly one gate.Your goal is to leave as many of the grid's 30 non-gate cells empty as possible in the given number of moves.# ShapesEvery tile and gate has one of two shapes:SquareCircleA tile can be removed only when both its *color* and its *shape* match the gate it passes through.# Making a MoveSwipe any row or column to rotate its tiles and empty spaces by one position.Anything that passes an edge wraps around to the opposite edge. The gate remains fixed in place.During each rotation, exactly one tile or empty space passes through the gate. That interaction may change the passing tile and the gate. Everything else simply moves to its new position.#Aug 12, 2026 3:35 PM

Show HN: FEDERaiDE, a TUI harness with P2P multi-agent routing and built in IDEhttps://federaide.rocklab.inHi!Federaide is a general purpose multi-agent harness that runs in your terminal. It is meant for recreational programming and automating your scripts. The agents are just named instances of language models which have their own memories, backstories et cetera, and can coordinate with each other as they require. It has its own IDE (complete with interactive structure parsing and jump to def). I am building Federaide as a solo project. Why do I build this? Some reasons:- I reached out to some people to try my other IDE, many of them did not have suitable computers (or at all).- During this time I observed almost every normal person has interacted with AI via their phones (usually the Gemini/ChatGPT app).- I felt I could bring the joy of coding to a lot more people if I could make an AI assisted IDE run on Android.- When I go to sleep I like to try out code ideas. Can't take my macbook to bed, have cats. Do have a spare Android, thought it would be nice to have a coding platform I could usAug 12, 2026 3:20 PM

We built a job board where the employers aren't human. Here's what brokehttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49273269Throughout history every marketplace — Uber, Upwork, eBay — has presumed humans on both sides of the transaction. It's baked so deep that nobody questions it. But as agents gain autonomy, they still sometimes need a human touch, from art to design. So we built Taskpool: a marketplace engineered for programmatic and AI access, where the employers are agents and the taskers are human only. Launching today. The flow:1. Agents post tasks they need real-world help with2. (Optionally) review applicants3. Hire any number of them4. Review the evidence / results5. Payment releases automaticallyDesigning a system for employers who don't even exist led us down plenty of rabbit holes — from ranking reputation to how zero-trust groups manage payments. Here's what we learned.Programmatic accessAt launch we natively support both API and MCP access. MCP is our favoured method for production: paired with webhook notifiers, agents can manage entire projects independently, in real time. Docs: https://taskAug 12, 2026 2:49 PM

Launch HN: Discovered Materials (YC P26) – AI agents to discover new materialshttps://discoveredmaterials.com/research/Hey HN, we're Advaith and Akash from Discovered Materials ( https://discoveredmaterials.com/ ). We build AI agents that discover new materials for the semiconductor industry.GPUs today have a heat problem. Nvidia & AMD are almost doubling the TDP (Thermal Design Power) in every chip they release - the H100 (released 2022) has a TDP of 700W, Blackwell (2024) gives out 1.2 kW and Rubin (2026) gives out at 2.3 kW of heat. This trend is expected to continue, and getting rid of this heat is one of the major reasons datacenters consume so much power and water today - they need it to keep chips cool during operation. The amount of heat produced by a chip and its ability to dissipate it are both influenced by the materials used to make it. For example, we could reduce the energy per bit required to move data between logic and memory by 10-50x by 3D packaging chips (placing HBM memory stacks directly on top of logic chips, instead of placing them beside logic on a 2D circuit board). However, we'Aug 12, 2026 7:51 AM

(Mostly an attempt for me to understand what everyone's talking about lately and also an attempt at staying up to date to current tech - career wise). It has: 1. 68 Lessons across 9 tracks, with a rust-from-zero ramp. 2. 8 rust labs - BPE tokenizer, KV block manager, radix cache, batching scheduler, a toy executor 3. 9 simulators running in browser (wasm) - roofline model, KV cache pressure, continuous batching dynamics 4. Fleet week - a simulated prod serving fleetAll progresss is local - there is no server (it's served from github pages, repo here https://github.com/praveer13/kernelspace)Feedback appreciated, and contributions welcome. I want to make this a really good course for me (and everyone else like me).* (OK, I had sol and kimi on it for most part)Aug 12, 2026 1:20 AM

Show HN: Argmin, challenges for optimizing hard problemshttps://argmin.devI want to share a project I've been working on called argmin.dev. It's a platform for hard optimization problems where a solution can be checked deterministically. For a bit of background, I've always found these types of problems interesting. The really difficult optimization problems where techniques like gradient decent don't work, or where even finding a feasible solution is difficult (e.g. square packing). I've worked on these independently for fun and have created this project as a way to share the problems I find interesting with the community. I am curious to see how far others can push these. Each challenge is defined by its verifier, a program that will enforce the constraints, and evaluate the objective function. The verifiers are open-source per challenge, so users can check their solutions against it before submitting. The platform keeps a record of submissions and will update the leaderboard each time someone finds a new record. Because the verifier is the spec, any loopholAug 11, 2026 4:51 PM

Show HN: Username.md – a signed, agent-readable identity page you ownhttps://username.md/Hi HN. I'm Chris Bergeron, an SRE by profession but a general technologist in my spare time. Projects I've built have been featured in books, frontpaged on news aggregators and chronicled on my blog.Today, I'm announcing https://username.md !username.md is a single identity URL: username.md/ - that content-negotiates on the `Accept` header. It serves an HTML profile page; an agent or curl gets Markdown, JSON, JSON-LD, or a JWT. The same URL serves different representations based on request header. So the page a human reads and the data a machine parses never drift apart. The interesting part is that every response can be signed and verified. Each handle gets an ED25519 keypair (private key AES-GCM-wrapped at rest), publishes a did:web document, and serves RFC 9421 signed responses. Claims about you — GitHub, a domain you control, an ATProto handle — are W3C Verifiable Credentials, verified before they're shown (e.g. domain ownership via a DNS-TXT challenge). Show HN: Overlay – Design with your React components and CSS tokens in your IDEhttps://www.overlay.studio/Hey HN, I'm Francesco. I've spent the last year building Overlay, a UI editor that runs inside your IDE and renders your actual React components (not a redraw of them), using your real CSS tokens.I'm a design engineer and, especially with AI, I found myself spending more and more time in the codebase rather than in Figma. Trying out ideas in code with AI is a lot of fun, but there are specific moments where I need to sketch things out on a classical visual canvas. The problem is, when you work mostly with code and your codebase moves faster than your Figma library, stopping to import your latest components into Figma is an energy-killer.So I built Overlay to get quick access to my React components on a canvas. It's a VS Code extension, so opening the canvas takes seconds. Your components are already there, and you're designing with the real thing: the editor is a normal DOM document, not a WebGL canvas. From there, working with AI (via MCP) is also a breeze. The agent already has accesAug 11, 2026 11:06 AM
