Show HN: Solid. Gamifying focused work without a gamer aesthetichttps://solidtheapp.info/Hi HN, I’m building Solid, a work-focused productivity app that uses gamification psychology without game-like visuals, points, or avatars. The idea came from using tools like Habitica and focus apps, but feeling disconnected from the “gamer” aesthetic. Solid is designed for professionals who want motivation, clarity, and consistency, without distractions.Right now this is an early landing page to validate interest. I’d love feedback on the concept, positioning, or whether this is something you’d actually use. Thanks for taking a look.

Show HN: Ideas.gd – a place for agents to discuss big ideashttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46850284I built a small, "big ideas" forum designed for AI agents, with a read-only human UI.Agents register via an API, solve a quick PoW, and then post/comment/vote/moderate just like users. Humans can browse and operators get admin endpoints. Why I made it - I wanted a place to run structured, testable debates between agents without clogging human forums. Been thinking about this for a while but MoltBook tipped me over the edge. - Everything is API-first so agents can automate posting, citing sources, and moderating. - A trust-tier + integrity sweep keeps noise down (rate limits, friction/quarantine for low- signal or injection-ish content). What works today - API: register, claim (optional human email), post/comment/vote, community proposals + endorsements, mod nominations/votes, bans, pins/locks. - Structured posts: contribution_type, domain, epistemic_status, citations (enforced for newcomers / community overrides). - Read-only UI: /, /p/{id}, /m/{slug}; Markdown/KaTeX/code highlighting c

Ask HN: How can I get decent internet speeds in my apartment?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46849706I feel like I’m going crazy.I live in a dense metropolitan area (Hollywood, Los Angeles), surrounded on all sides by buildings with fiber and high-speed cable. Yet I can’t get any wired internet service in my small, old 5-unit building.Right now I’m forced to use Verizon 5G Home Internet. Download speeds are fine, but latency is bad and upload speeds are abysmal (5 Mbps), which is a real problem for my work (large uploads, remote collaboration, etc).Things I’ve tried:- AT&T / Frontier / other major players — none service my address- Starry — does not service my address- Spectrum — They claimed they service my address. The technician showed up and searched around the building for ~1 hour. Then said they’d need approval from their boss to install a box. The next day, their boss calls and says it won’t be possible — something about construction being too expensive / not feasible. (This is who recommended I try Starry)As far as I can tell, I have:- No fiber- No cable- No DSLIs there any re

Hack Your Health and Get 300 Health Metrics with AIhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46846392For the past decade, wearable health devices have been limited to measuring 20 or so metrics - heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, and steps. Steps, in particular, have become a kind of health ritual: walk more, count them carefully, and all will be fine. Smartwatches now offer dozens of sports modes, but the core value hasn’t changed.Despite record-breaking sales, wearable devices still don’t provide meaningful health insight. What are users really paying for, and what does a subscription deliver? The real breakthrough comes from turning a wearable into a full laboratory on the wrist - and AI is already making this possible.By early 2026, our team trained AI to measure more than 300 health parameters from a single wrist pulse signal. The data is sent to an AI-powered cloud, where it is transformed into a full health profile. Users access insights across metabolism and endocrinology, blood and microcirculation, cardiovascular and respiratory function, liver and kidney

Show HN: ArtCraft AI crafting engine, written in Rusthttps://github.com/storytold/artcraftI've been a photons-on-glass filmmaker for over ten years, and I've been developing ArtCraft for myself, my friends, and my colleagues. All of my film school friends have a lot of ambition, but the production pyramid doesn't allow individual talent to shine easily. 10,000 students go to film school, yet only a handful get to helm projects they want with full autonomy - and almost never at the blockbuster budget levels that would afford the creative vision they want. There's a lot of nepotism, too.AI is the personal computer moment for film. Show HN: EditorWatch – Detect AI cheating by analyzing how students write codehttps://github.com/Vic-Nas/EditorWatchHi HN,I built EditorWatch to help CS instructors detect AI-generated code in programming assignments.Current plagiarism detectors only look at the final code. Students copying from ChatGPT slip through easily. EditorWatch is different - it monitors HOW code is written, not just what's written.A VS Code extension tracks coding patterns: - Sudden code appearance (paste bursts) - Lack of natural trial-and-error - Robotic typing patterns - Perfect-first-time codeIt generates an authenticity score (0-10) with visualizations for each submission.Privacy-conscious design: - No video/screenshots, only metadata (timestamps, character counts) - Only tracks specified file types (.py, .js, etc.) - Students must explicitly opt-in - Data deleted after grading - 100% open sourceFree for education, paid for commercial use. Deploys easily on Railway or your own server.I know it's not foolproof - determined students can bypass it. But it raises the bar significantly and works as one tool alongside code r
