Users who don't know about it must either rely on the shady tier of online video downloaders or pay for some of the better ones. I used to think there was a hard-coded limit to downloading files in 4K until I realised yt-dlp and ffmpeg existed.Another example: TIL the Bluesky Jetstream protocol is completely free, which is amazing to me because of all the data and inference you can get from it (similar APIs, albeit from much larger social datasets like Google Maps and X, are not free.It seems that the entry barrier to a lot of useful tools over the last two decades has been a minimal ability to code. Ask HN: How do you develop more deterministic LLM pipelines?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49293943It feels like with LLMs I develop a prompt and then get some kind of output that's not very well structured and requires some kind of human oversight to verify that the result I've gotten back is of quality, and the non-deterministic nature of LLMs is the main reason for this.I see solutions using LLMs, VLMs, etc that will achieve things that have been solved before (things like OCR, parsing, or even just code generation). They do these problems really well and really fast... 90% of the time. How do I get a scaffolding setup so I can be 100% confident in my solution (meaning 100% confident that I know what it's going to do)?With standard ML, I have things like confidence scores to base whether or not I accept an output as valuable. I had my browser setting "send do-not-track", and today when I get on AQR, I saw "...accepted" on the bottom left corner. I didn't know what it meant at first, but then realized that it was my settings. This is the first and the only website I found that has a tip, telling me that I am not tracked.
