With the World Cup around the corner, and being a football fan, I went looking for apps that would give me a detailed overview of groups, matches categorized by group or team, a daily timeline of when games happen that day (especially useful for us in Europe, since some games run pretty late), and a way to follow my favorite team or teams. The problem I ran into was that most apps out there are pretty bloated — like, really bloated. The ones that weren't either didn't focus on the World Cup specifically, or were ridden with betting ads and ads in general. So I built a very minimal ad-free (mostly tailored for myself) World Cup web app for fixtures and live scores. The fixture data comes from the openfootball/worldcup.json project - https://github.com/openfootball/worldcup.json. I hope you find it helpful, would love any feedback.

Ask HN: What do you do with LLM articles?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48441480I don't want to make a rant about articles written entirely or partially with the aid of LLMs. I do myself sometimes resort to that type of help if I get stuck. I just would like to know your feelings when, at some point through the reading, you realize that what you have in front has not been written by a person. The signs are by now pretty clear and at least my brain clicks as soon as that happens (I usually confirm it with an LLM detector). Emotionally, I feel a profound sense of frustration (I like the notes and imperfections that different humans bring to a perspective). Rationally, I fear that the more of this I read, the more damage I might do to my brain. Imagine reading books only from 1 author. And that author is only interested in their book sales. Maybe I am overthinking it?

The fill-engine generates candidate grid skeletons (default is 200) and fills them with words from the Crossword Nexus Collaborative Word List. The clue-writer uses Claude to generate multi-tiered clues (easy, medium, hard), explanations, and QA review the generated puzzles. The clue-writer explanation and/or QA steps can be skipped or the clue-writer can be skipped entirely if you want to write your own clues.I’ve also created a crossword puzzle web app that can be used to test puzzles generated by the pipeline (https://wordfuzz.com/). The puzzles in the archive have all been generated with the pipeline. But since the dawn of LLMs, I've been trying to imagine what the world will look like if we take LLM to its logical conclusion. It seems to me, despite of all its benefits, LLM is a sword too sharp for all of us to handle.
