I'm Iranian and there is a GFW-like filtering system active in Iran.I created a static website writing guides and documenting some of my findings there (in Persian). I used Actions and Pages to build the website and I hosted the source on Github itself.After a while, I was suddenly suspended without a single warning or giving any explanation except a generic terms of use violation!I asked for reinstatement 3 times in 2 weeks, none of them were answered.After about a month, I pinged them on Twitter. A day later, finally someone replied to my reinstatement ticket, saying I was using Github Actions "to interact with 3rd party websites, to engage in incentivized activities,..." which was against the terms.Thing is, I was not using Actions for such activities. Are AI language models being used to flood us with hype?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34812656I'm finding it inexplicable the gap between what everybody writes recently and actually using ChatGPT.I asked it something like "give me suggestions for distinguishing situation X from not-X probabilistically with data from a smartphone's sensor array".It gives me a bunch of plausible suggestions, but the bullet points look suspiciously like an embellished list of all of the commonly used sensors on a phone. (why shouldn't it...)So I decide to zero in on one of them arbitrarily, and I ask it to characterize the probability distribution for sensor Y, in the "X" and "not-X" case (I'm not wording it like I do here, so don't jump to conclusions)Then it says, contradicting the earlier response, that really, you can't expect any difference between X and not-X and it avoids giving anything quantitative. I can usually ask a question on Discord and get a response within 30 seconds as many people start responding. Sometimes they ask clarifying questions and generally speaking that will be enough for them to answer. If I asked the same question on SO, I would have to wait days, months, or even years for an answer. This is what happened to some of the questions I've seen there, with many questions also not having any answers at all.The problem, of course, is indexability for search engines; SO is very indexable, and Discord is opaque.
