Show HN: A Minimal Monthly Task Planner (printable, offline, no signup)https://printcalendar.top/Hi HN,I built a tiny tool because I couldn’t find a clean, distraction-free monthly planner that:1. shows a clean monthly task view 2. doesn’t require an account 3. doesn’t sync or store anything online 4. works offline 5. is printable 6. and keeps a minimal, distraction-free aestheticSo I made https://printcalendar.top/ — a minimal monthly task planner. It’s intentionally simple. No logins, no integrations, no dashboards. Just a small tool for people who want structure without clutter.

Germany’s space defense strategy marks a turning point. Private investors must now respondhttps://spacenews.com/germanys-space-defense-strategy-marks-a-turning-point-private-investors-must-now-respond/Readers of this magazine have known for years what we, as investors, have also known for years: that the space sector is not some marginal realm of human activity, to be left to a handful of specialists operating on the sidelines of normal life. Rather, space is the backbone of the world economy, a domain […] The post Germany’s space defense strategy marks a turning point. Private investors must now respond appeared first on SpaceNews.

EarthCARE lifts the clouds on climate modelshttps://www.esa.int/Applications/Observing_the_Earth/FutureEO/EarthCARE/EarthCARE_lifts_the_clouds_on_climate_modelsTrue to its promise, the European Space Agency’s EarthCARE satellite is now being used to calculate directly how clouds and aerosols influence Earth’s energy balance – the all-important balance that regulates our climate. In doing so, EarthCARE is poised to sharpen the accuracy of climate models, the very tools that guide global climate policy and action.

Show HN: Systemdesigner.net – a free interactive system-design learning platformhttps://www.systemdesigner.net/Hi HN,I built systemdesigner.net, a free platform for learning and practicing system design, ML systems, and GenAI architectures.I originally built it for myself while preparing for system design and ML/AI interviews. I realized my workflow was a mess: reading a blog here, watching a video there, taking notes in Google Docs, and drawing diagrams in entirely different tools. When mentoring engineers I saw the same problem. I wanted a single platform where the material, the practice problems, and the diagramming were part of one continuous loop rather than scattered across the internet. Here’s what it does today:- Guided learning plans you can generate based on what you want to study (distributed systems, ML, LLMs, etc). - Every page has built-in quizzes so you can check understanding immediately. - In-page tools: highlight text, take notes, ask questions, get explanations, or have AI discussions on any concept. - Interactive whiteboards for designing architectures and practicing intervie

Show HN: ICT – New Information Model for Matter Time Consciousness (Experiment)https://www.academia.edu/s/8924eff666TL;DR: ICT (Information–Consciousness–Time) treats matter as fixed information, consciousness as the rate of informational change, and time as the structuring of this change. The model unexpectedly drew interest from researchers in information physics (feedback below) and includes three concrete falsifiable experiments.1. Core IdeaThree base relations:1. Matter = fixed information M = I_fixed2. Consciousness = rate of informational change C ∝ dI/dT3. Reality = interaction of stable and flowing information R = f(I_fixed, dI/dT)This connects to Landauer’s limit, free-energy principle, Bekenstein bounds, and integrated-information concepts, but treats information itself as the fundamental physical substrate.2. Time as informational processIn ICT, time is:> “The transition of potential information into structured experience.”This links phenomenological time, physical time, and informational/computational time. Consciousness “shapes” this transition → generating an effective local arrow of

A three-layer memory architecture for long-running agentshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46097759Anthropic's recent piece on effective harnesses for long-running agents hit close to home. We've been wrestling with the same problems — agents that try to one-shot everything, declare victory prematurely, and leave chaos for the next session to clean up. But we solved some of these problems differently. Here's what's working for us, what isn't yet, and where we respectfully disagree with the proposed solutions. The Memory Problem: Three Layers Beat One Anthropic's solution is a progress.txt file plus git history. It works, but it's flat. We use three layers instead: Layer 1: Model actualization. A semantic memory system that helps the orchestrating agent understand "what are we building and why." This is the soft layer. Layer 2: Think Jira meets Git, but for AI agents. Structured storage of tasks with metadata: blockers, decision paths, dependencies, progress state. The agent doesn't just know what to do next — it understands the logic of how we got here and where we're going. Layer 3:

White dwarf magnetic field study reveals inner accretion dynamicshttps://www.spacedaily.com/reports/White_dwarf_magnetic_field_study_reveals_inner_accretion_dynamics_999.htmlCambridge, MA (SPX) Nov 21, 2025 Some 200 light years from Earth, the core of a dead star is circling a larger star in a macabre cosmic dance. The dead star is a type of white dwarf that exerts a powerful magnetic field as it pulls material from the larger star into a swirling, accreting disk. The spiraling pair is what's known as an "intermediate polar" - a type of star system that gives off a complex pattern of intense radiat

ClipE96: We Left the Clipboard Unguarded for 40 Yearshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46051434In 1984, Apple shipped copy and paste. It was a miracle of usability—and architecturally broken from day one.Press Ctrl+C and the entire payload—bytes, formatting, metadata, embedded objects—dumps into a system buffer that any application can read. No auth. No logging. No revocation. The clipboard is a broadcast channel disguised as a convenience. The catastrophe: The clipboard is now the #1 data exfiltration vector in enterprise. 77% of knowledge workers paste corporate data into AI tools. Every paste bypasses your CASB, EDR, SIEM, and DLP. Your security stack guards the front door while users walk data out the side. The waste: 40 billion copy operations/day × ~100KB average = 4 exabytes of daily churn. RAM pressure, cloud sync, VM duplication—all unnecessary. Annualized: 83B kWh, 33M tons CO₂, $10B in energy costs. We're burning a small nation's power grid because nobody questioned whether copying a sentence needed to ship a document. The semantic lie: Copy and cut were always opposites,

Show HN: Memory System Hitting 80.1% Accuracy on LoCoMo (Built in 4.5 Months)https://github.com/vac-architector/VAC-Memory-SystemI’ve been working on an independent memory-retrieval architecture for agent systems. I don’t have a CS background — previously worked climbing cell towers and doing handyman jobs — but I spent the last 4.5 months building a hybrid memory system from scratch. The system combines FAISS, BM25, and a symbolic ranking layer (MCA). Answers are generated with GPT-4o-mini at temperature 0. The focus is determinism, transparency, and reproducibility rather than model size.On the official LoCoMo benchmark (1,540 questions), the system reaches 80.1% average accuracy. To my knowledge, that’s above the publicly reported results for existing agent-memory stacks using small models.Latency is ~2.5 seconds, and cost is ~$0.10 per 1M tokens. Memory is fully isolated and local, which makes it usable for offline or enterprise applications.Repository (code + full reproducible benchmarking): https://github.com/vac-architector/VAC-Memory-SystemHappy to answer technical questions, discuss the architecture, or
