Show HN: Voice control coding agents on your machine via smartwatch / CarPlayhttps://dashvox.aiTLDR: got tired of my desk, so now I touch grass while coding from my watch.Ever since the 2021 GH Copilot beta saved me from dual carpal tunnel, I figured AI's main benefit in coding would be cutting typing while keeping productivity. That's turned out true; no one writes their own code lately. Why wouldn’t you have AI do the first draft? Why not your updates too? I expected phone coding to rise next, but tiny keyboards wreck your hands even faster. To put this into practice, I started leaving my Windows desktop on 24/7 and SSHing in from my phone, yet the problem just transformed: now I had finger pain typing long prompts to Claude Code.I also commute 2 hours a day between SF and PayPal HQ, where I work as an AI Specialist / Sr SWE overseeing our AI coding-agent tooling. During that commute I couldn't touch my machine's work at all. So the app was initially just voice-activated coding for CarPlay, so I could dispatch and talk to agents entirely by voice while driving, like TTS textinJun 1, 2026 1:41 PM

Launch HN: Expanse (YC P26) – Unlock Wasted GPU Capacityhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48356312Hey HN, we’re Ismaeel, Eren, Yafet and Nikodem. We built Expanse (https://expanse.sh/) to increase the effective capacity of your HPC/GPU clusters running schedulers/orchestrators like Kubernetes and SLURM. We read the source code, job submission script, and the hardware a workload is about to run on to predict what the job actually needs before the cluster sees it. We also flag failures we think are about to happen and surface line-level optimisations the researcher can apply themselves. The problem: Datacenters run at roughly 30% to 40% effective utilisation. Users request more resources than what they actually need, because of asymmetric risk: while over-requesting is bad because it’s expensive and wastes capacity that someone else could have used, under-requesting kills your job mid-run and you lose days of work. So everyone over-requests by two to three times. We measured one national-scale HPC cluster for a month and from 122k jobs, 59% of the compute was wasted. At on-demand cloudJun 1, 2026 1:05 PM

Show HN: Combine WigglyPaint GIFs into Videohttps://altbdoor.github.io/wiggly-compose-gif/Been trying out WigglyPaint[1] lately to flesh out my creative side. I started drawing a series of images, and wanted to combine them into a video to post into social media. The first iteration I did was manually mangling FFmpeg commands to loop GIFs over n seconds, before combining them into a video. After that I thought, I might as well make a web application to help make this easier.Ironically, the videos I created in my Firefox Windows appears to be unplayable, which prompted me to go full circle, by importing a FFmpeg WASM to fix the file. But it was definitely interesting to see how the JS code work to splice GIFs into image data, replaying it over a canvas, which then feeds to a WebCodec. GitHub link is in [2] if you are interested to see the source code. Show HN: Manger – Livestock Management Apphttps://www.manger.app/Hi HN,My name is Matt and I've been working on a project called Manger, a mobile app used for livestock management. As a child, I grew up in a rural area with chickens, cows and other livestock around me. At the same time, I've always been passionate about technology. About a year ago, I launched Manger on iOS, and, more recently on Android. Just this past week, I launched RFID tags for poultry, called "eFlock Smart Poultry Tags" along with a companion scanner. The "killer feature" of the app is long-range scanning support (up to 15 feet), which can be used to count and identify animals. I imagine it has some other "current" uses, for example, finding young chickens that have been spooked and hiding in grass. The app is written with React Native and uses PouchDB, backed by SQLite. What makes this really neat is that you can sync your data across devices via a (local!) CouchDB server. At my homestead, my wife typically takes care of chickens and records how many eggs we've collected eachJun 1, 2026 1:49 AM

Tell HN: Meta's AI support feature allows Instagram accounts to be stolenhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48350239If the AI support option is enabled for your Instagram account (it appears to be A/B tested for only a percentage of accounts), anyone can hijack it with little effort. Simply get on a proxy or VPN close to the account's region, then ask the agent to send a code to an arbitrary email address. Once you receive the code, pass it forward to the agent, and it'll provide you with a password reset link which you can then use to sign into the account.Posting here for any Meta employees who may be reading. This flaw has been around for at least a few days and has been used to hijack over 100 high-value Instagram accounts. The correct patch would be to disable the AI support feature entirely for the time being until this is sorted and revert accounts and usernames that have been hijacked over the last few days. This is a pretty important flaw and it's currently being exploited in blackhat circles. The steps above are public knowledge in these circles and can be found trivially on Telegram.Edit:May 31, 2026 10:11 PM

Show HN: Agents, run any coding agent on your subscription not API costshttps://agents-cli.shHi HN. I'm the founder of Phoenix Labs (ex TikTok, Applied AI) and we're open sourcing our internal tooling today which is like a toolchain / meta-harness for CLI agents useful for really scaling eng and creative work.We are a very small team who's building a very ambitious product so we had to find ways to squeeze every ounce of efficiency that we could get our hands on. Harness strengths of different models (Claude, GPTs) and CLI-harnesses (Claude Code, Codex), safe/robust browser integration to speed up UX/QA testing, teams cli to speed up security reviews and parallelize bug hunting and fixes, and secrets cli with touch id integration so DX is extremely fast.We also noticed that small things like installing marketplaces, or sharing resources per projects (skills, plugins, secrets, subagents, workflows, rules, permission groups, hooks) took a lot of time so we put everything under ~/.agents and supported multi-layer dot-agents repos, auto layering and syncing system, user and projecMay 31, 2026 4:21 PM

Show HN: I built a native project management app that respects your privacyhttps://getmilestones.app/store/Hello HN!I wanted to show you the project management app that I've been building for the past 2 years: Milestones! It's completely native and works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.It doesn't need an account, it's local-first, with optional iCloud Sync that can be turned on in settings. iCloud Sync means that your data can be synced but still stays private, as it syncs to your own iCloud account. Additionally, analytics and crash reports are opt-in and you're asked before any data is sent to any analytics server.I built this app for myself, since I am handling multiple projects constantly, but wanted a way to manage them without having to use bloated, complex tools, plus I needed a way to divide tasks into "phases" or milestones (e.g. App versions). It's free to download and has a generous free-tier, the pro version comes with a monthly, yearly or lifetime option and is mainly for power-users. I also just released an MCP Server for the Mac version.I'd love for you all to try it and tell me whatMay 31, 2026 12:14 PM

Ask HN: What are your worst war stories bringing agentic applications into prodhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48342441For a bit of context, I’m currently creating a team of AI agents at work to generate reports by fanning out into a large amount of subagents to process a large amount of transcript data. When the analysis fails mid-way because of some individual step like an API call returns an error or the machine is out of memory, it would create cascading errors that break the entire generation with almost no visibility. I’ve just spent the past month rewriting the individual jobs as durable execution jobs on DBOS but just wondering if there are better solutions out there and if others encountered similar issues? And then there is the issue to reflect back the progress to the users which I’ve just been coding ad-hoc honestly…When an agent fails at step 9 of 12, how do you handle that?Roughly how many engineer-weeks have you sunk into agent infrastructure (durability, monitoring, human-in-the-loop, live UI) vs. the actual agent logic? Curious if my ratio is normal. For those who built this stuff in-hoMay 31, 2026 2:07 AM
