We're building a reservable electric car charging network out of shared private and home chargers.As a Nissan Leaf driver without a home charger, charging has been almost a daily headache for me. For many commutes and trips I have to ask myself, should I drive my Leaf, use Uber, take public transit, walk really far, or just not go? This is due to the walk-in-only model of the public charger, which results in unpredictable availability. Worse, public charging is growing at a slower rate than EV adoption, and the range estimators on EVs are no better than a 10-day weather forecast.I used the Plugshare app and it helped some, particularly the couch surfing style of charging where I arrange a 2 hour slot with some home charger hosts. When it worked well, it took out the unpredictability and therefore anxiety. However, it doesn’t always work well. I carry around three blank notebooks; ideas, self-improvement, and study.The ideas book is for jotting down ideas about things I might want to create. It prevents me from just rushing in.The self-improvement book is a list of things I want to improve on for instance soft-skills like communication or health-related like eating.Study - I tend to write in depth in this book. It contains many notes around algorithms, computer programming concepts I'm studying or even about books I'm reading.For each entry, I write the date and time. e.g., Mar 6th 5:37 PM PST (California). I find it interesting to see when I wrote those notes and where I was at the time. I plan to document the actual location going forward as well.2. Eating - I'm trying to cut back on carbs and sugar. I want to start thinking about charging for the product in some way and this is where I need your help!Our main competition adds a watermark to every video, you pay a subscription of $20 to have them removed. Simple. They are doing well and growing fast.I don't want to add watermarks because I think they are ugly and ruins the user's video. I also believe it will give us a competitive advantage if we don't.I thought about offering a PRO tools package to our users, but most of our users are entry level if they want more powerful editing tools they will go to some other product.The other idea is to charge for cloud storage? I have seen many research papers and videos where we see green rectangles around people/ bicycles /bus , and written right next to it would be - person (98%), bicycle (95%), bus (90%).What’s even more bamboozling to me is how payment apps work. For ex, in India we have PayTM and PhonePe. Merchants have their QR codes displayed on wall. We open the app, scan the QR code using smartphone app, and pay the merchant. Nine times out of ten, we don’t even have to hold the camera properly and with stability in front of the QR code. Just whizzing the camera by the QR code even helps the app to capture the QR code instantaneously. I am amazed as to how does the camera capture the QR code so fast with so little exposure time.I know this is all object detection but I would love to know all the gory details of how these systems work. I recently tried to incorporate with them using Atlas, and had an extremely frustrating experience with their customer service. I believe their site pulled in an old company name from a previously abandoned registration (or perhaps it was an auto-complete problem on my side). Either way, the company name was wrong in the application. I did the DocuSign paperwork from my phone and didn't notice the erroneous name until a day later, and immediately contacted customer support in three different ways. Ask HN: Revolut account frozen – this has to be illegal?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18974884Hi This is my first post (will post screenshots eventually)So I decide to move to revolut and start using them for some of my spending. After a few months I passed my 30k top up limit for the year. I then proceeded to send proof of income and all that sort of stuff onto them . Within a day my limit was lifted to 70k within 1 year .All was going well , I was telling all my mates to get the app as vs a normal bank, interacting and using revoult for daily spending was amazing ( especially the premium service ...which I paid for ) until some time in September/October . My account suddenly was frozen .I contacted support via in app chat and they asked for me to yet again prove my income . I happily obliged.So here is the bit that drives me up the wall and cannot be legal and if it is it shouldn't be . The live chat support turned around and told me that they were closing down my account as they did not like how I was spending my money.
