I've had a lot of struggles working in a large codebase getting AI to follow the existing patterns and architecture. So I started building a VS Code / Cursor extension that lets you quickly snap together sub prompts/instructions relevant to a specific task. After seeing the value of this, I realized you could make those sub prompts more customizable by using a liquid syntax engine.That worked fine for a few days, until the original context blocks got stale as the project progressed. I wrote an MCP server that can update those blocks, creating a feedback loop. A few days later I added an amend option too, so the AI can write a log and decision record as it goes.At this point I realized there were a lot of opportunities here: my AI isn't spending the first 5 minutes doing research, I've got better control over my context window, there's less irrelevant data leaking in from my agents.md f

On X/Twitter, I have been seeing a lot of discourse about the great new capabilities it has, specifically for UI and design and game development.However, I suspect a lot of this is really just because we have never tried to attempt this with Claude Opus 4.8.For example, the Three.js scenes I keep on seeing: I feel like they could have been attempted with Opus 4.8 with just a bit more effort and prompting? I feel completely lost and struggle to predict what future is best and "ai proof". I want any advice.I feel completely lost both career and identity-wise. I think I should pivot careers. Engineering? Trade school? Law school? Medicine? Who knows. The problem is, any, high paying, knowledge related field seems under threat. It feels impossible to predict the future and so I am not comfortable putting my chips anywhere.On the other hand, I could try to improve my CS skills (as depressing as the field feels right now), hope that AI slows down and I get a job so I can go back to a masters program in god-knows-what that is "ai proof".Any advice is appreciated. My background is not in forensics, but I was interested in building the agent. I've been seeing some really cool results and thought this community might like it!Mulder is an MCP server that exposes forensic tools like Volatility, Sleuthkit, Plaso, and more as typed tool calls. Every invocation is recorded in an append-only audit log. When an agent finds something, it submits a "finding" to the case database. Each finding must have evidence citations that are validated before being admitted. If the agent cites evidence or a tool execution that doesn't exist, the finding is dropped.The biggest problem I needed to solve was context window pressure. These investigations often contain a lot of data, and processing it produces a lot of noise that will fill a context window quickly. To avoid this, all tool output is stored in a per-case SQLite database with full-text search. The agent can then search the database and request segments of too

The benchmarks are real: 87.6% SWE-bench (from 80.8%), +13% on coding tasks, 3x more resolved production tasks on Rakuten-SWE-Bench. But there are a few changes that compound on each other for token consumption: a new tokenizer (1.0–1.35x more tokens for the same input depending on content type), xhigh effort mode that reasons longer per turn, and /ultrareview which spins up parallel agents for code review. The model is genuinely better. The question is whether "better reasoning on the same noisy context" is the right optimization. Coding agents still spend most of their budget exploring files they won't touch before doing anything useful — a smarter model doesn't fix that, it just does it more thoroughly. Curious what cost delta people are seeing on real codebases moving from 4.6 to 4.7, especially with the new effort levels. (I've been building in this space — vexp.dev is my attempt at the context side of the problem, happy to share more details if useful).
