The model converted Microsoft's enterprise licensing channel from a margin-based reseller structure to a direct-billing, advisory-fee structure. It launched as part of Licensing 6.0 in October 2001 and is still referenced by name in Microsoft's FY2025 10-K twenty-four years later.The piece walks through what the original architecture was, why it worked (Microsoft's volume licensing commitments nearly tripled in the two years following launch, $1.9B to $5.5B), and why the 2026 unwind is structurally different. The 2001 transition gave partners a defined advisory role with a sustainable economic model. It's an FPS game released in ~2010 officially by Hezbollah, about the Lebanese/Israeli war (different than their other series of games, Special Forces).I was able to get a sealed DVD from the lead developer who wants to remain unnamed. He said he used a custom DRM for the game, and gave me permission to try and crack it, though he was confident I won't be able to. He no longer has access to the source code, and had 2 DVDs left, one is with me.I have tried everything I know to no avail.First, I tried using ddrescue, but it got stuck at around 30%. Disc is in great condition, so it was probably the intentional bad sectors by the DRM. I then tried Alchohol 120%, and after 80 hours, I got an mdf/mds files.But when trying to install the game from the setup, decompressing fails.I tried binwalk. Full disclosure: I'm a software engineer, but not really a hardware or embedded systems engineer, so Codex GPT 5.5 has done the lion-share of the work here along with a bit of help from Claude Opus 4.7 here and there. It's taken about 1.5 to 2 weeks to get from zero to this first release.macOS doesn't expose the monitor-mode / packet-injection path that WFB systems normally rely on. I really didn't like the idea of needing a separate linux box just to talk WFB to other edge devices, like drones.
