Abacus Agentic Behaviorhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47568594Deep agent is wonderful. It has helped our company immensely in numerous ways. The flow was always great.. helpful. Now, however, enshittification by way of "useful" developmental changes have become a pain in the ass.Working with their Deep Agent has recently become onerous.Any time it "thinks" you are deviating from the agentic flow, it pops up an intrusive modal stating:"Do you want to continue? This query does not seem to be related to previous turn queries. Are you sure you want to continue in the current conversation? For optimal and cost-effective performance we recommend starting a new conversation with this prompt."This breaks the flow considerably when I have to take myself out of my moment to address your apparent lack of insight that not everything in a flow is going to be related to the session. Stop trying to guide us. We know where the fuck we are going.Stop trying to babysit us. There are other LLM services out there.Don't make us choose.Mar 29, 2026 11:32 PM

Tell HN: Uni feels so usless, I cant focus anymorehttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47567925Im a 18 y/o first year student, and I honestly have always liked school, been super passionate about CS forever, loved school sports and all that jazz.Dont get me wrong I love my uni, its a great school, very good global recognition and stuff, and lots of cool opportunities and stuff going on. I'm a really passionate guy and I love building, and so I literally on the first day just walked into the CS professors office hours, and was showing him stuff I built. I got offered a research position, joined in on the research meetings for a bit, and then got told that they dont pay right now, so I stopped. I want to make capital, and I dont want to build for someone else to own it just so that I can put it on my resume. It makes me feel like a cuck, and then the prof claims the work. I literally asked him, if students come to you with these ideas why dont they just build it themselves, and struggle a bit and try to become profitable, we have great networks here. And he somewhat agreed, but I Mar 29, 2026 10:09 PM

LeaseWitness – Free lease agreement generator (15 types, no sign-up)https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47564893I built LeaseWitness after noticing how painful it is for landlords to find clean, customizable lease templates without paying for a subscription or downloading sketchy PDFs. It covers 15 agreement types: week-to-week, month-to-month, sublease, commercial, roommate, rent-to-own, parking, and more. Tech stack: Vite + React, deployed on Vercel. Completely free, no account required. Would love feedback from anyone who has dealt with lease agreements before — what's missing, what could be better? https://leasewitness.comMar 29, 2026 4:57 PM

Show HN: Think Fu – Metacognition as a servicehttps://thinkfu.orgHi HN!I've been very unimpressed with how LLMs think when it comes to anything creative. It's no surprise - they've been lobotomized by RLHF to be helpful, predictable and consistent - all of these things are counterproductive in a more creative setting. So I've built a little something to help LLMs be less creatively bland and dumb. It's called ThinkFu (because I believe creative thinking, when practiced well, is a martial art).Anyway, you can watch a 3-min video demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-LQvX105SIOr you can just add it to your claude code like this:/plugin marketplace add move38studios/thinkfu/plugin install thinkfu@move38studios-thinkfuYou can also explore what's happening in the code here: https://github.com/move38studios/thinkfuThe TL;DR is:1. I've collected 200+ "thinking moves" from things like oblique strategies, triz, systems thinking, design thinking etc. and adapted them for LLMs2. The Iran situation finally pushed him to do it, and Claude made it easy enough to actually ship.It tracks inventory levels and fuel deliveries from internet-accessible Veeder-Root gas stations (approx 4k globally). You can browse aggregated levels by country, brand, and product, with geolocation and images via Google Places (where it can be resolved). The goal is to develop a deeper understand of how frameworks like FastAPI and Starlette work.A strong motivation for doing this is because - I have been using AI to write code lately. I prompt, I get code, it works. But somewhere along the way I see I stopped caring about what is actually happening. So, this is an attempt to think beyond prompts and build deeper mental models of things we use in our day to day lives. I am not sure about the usefulness of this but I believe there are good lessons to be learnt doing this. The series works more as a follow along where each lesson builds on the previous one. By the end, you will have built something similar to Starlette - and actually understand how it works.- https://github.com/grandimam/papuli/blob/main/docs/01-founda...- https://github.com/grandimam/papuli/blob/main/docs/02-hellow...Mar 27, 2026 8:26 PM

Show HN: I made an AI that reviews iPhone apps – 1h of autonomous GUI workhttps://understudy-ai.github.io/understudy/I've been building Understudy, an open-source GUI agent for macOS. Wanted to push the GUI stuff beyond the usual short demos, so I tried turning it into an iPhone app reviewer. You give it one prompt. It browses the real App Store in Chrome, installs the app on a real iPhone through macOS iPhone Mirroring (not a simulator), opens the app and explores it — never seen Snapseed before — records clips and screenshots, composites a narrated review video with FFmpeg locally, uploads it to YouTube, then deletes the app. About an hour, didn't touch the keyboard. The exploration part is what I'm happiest with. The agent reads the App Store description, goes "they say background removal works, let me try that," and then figures out an unfamiliar app on its own. It regrounds from the live screenshot every action, so unexpected dialogs or UI changes don't kill it.The reason it can sustain an hour of work: each of the 6 stages runs as a separate child session with its own context. Show HN: Cranki – Crosswords meet Anki flashcardshttps://cranki.appHi HN!I am sure most of you have heard of Anki flashcards? Using spaced-repetition is one of the best ways to learn more vocabulary when learning a language. However, I find flashcards super boring. I've been playing some crossword games in my target language, Spanish, but I wished that I could use my custom list of words that I've come across instead of random words. That gave me the idea to create this mini-app. It's super simple. Add your words and you get unlimited crosswords with spaced-repetition! If you get a word right you won't see it for the next few days.Works with most languages (I doubt it works with Arabic or Chinese for example). You can add words one by one or import a CSV (just make sure to follow the columns: word, answer)It's a PWA, so you should be able to install it via your browser and it should work offline! There's still some bugs and QoL things to add but let me know what you think!Mar 27, 2026 4:46 PM

Show HN: The Economics of Builder Saturation in Digital Marketshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47542386I formalised something most of us already feel but rarely say out loud: making things easier to build doesn't make things easier to succeed with.Personal version: I've vibe-coded maybe 15 projects since the beginning of this year. Two are still alive. At work, our teams built hundreds of custom GPTs and dashboards. Handful survived. The failure mode was never "couldn't build it" - it was "nobody had the bandwidth to care."So I wrote a paper about it. It combines Herbert Simon's attention scarcity, free-entry IO models, superstar economics, and preferential attachment into one framework. The central result: equilibrium attention per builder = k/p (entry cost over monetisation rate), independent of market size. As AI drives k towards 0, that ratio vanishes regardless of how much the market grows. Free entry absorbs everything.Calibrated to the App Store (800K publishers, 38B downloads) the model matches observed concentration pretty well - top 1% get ~70% of downloads, quarter of apps unMar 27, 2026 1:26 PM

Show HN: 10 Lines of Python to fix mangled copy-paste from Claude Codehttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47540678Claude Code uses Ink (React for CLIs) which positions text via cursor moves. When you copy text from its terminal output, each line gets padded with trailing spaces to fill the terminal width, and every line gets a consistent leading indent from the UI chrome. The result is text that looks right in the terminal but pastes like garbage.I assumed this was a hard problem — that the copy operation was destroying line boundaries and merging padding with indentation into an ambiguous space blob. Nope. A hex dump (`pbpaste | xxd`) showed real `0a` newlines at every line boundary, and consistent leading whitespace. The entire fix is: strip trailing whitespace, dedent. #!/usr/bin/env python3 import re, sys def clean(text): text = re.sub(r'\x1b\[[0-9;]*[a-zA-Z]', '', text) # strip ANSI escapes text = re.sub(r'\x1b\][^\x07]*\x07', '', text) # strip OSC sequences text = re.sub(r'[ \t]+$', '', text, flags=re.MULTILINE) # strip trailing whitespace lines = text.split('\n') while lines and not lines[0Mar 27, 2026 9:46 AM
