Tell HN: eBay doesn't allow changing countryhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44140192On 2025-05-30, I received an email from eBay saying "Peter, are you still using your account?"I got a security code by email, and successfully spoke to a nice man from Florida on the phone.I noticed that my address has changed, because my parents sold their house in France and moved to New Zealand. So I updated my address as well.On 2025-05-31, I received another email from suspension@ebay.com saying "MC092 FPA NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension - User Agreement - Abusing eBay - peterburk"The first thing I did when I turned 18 years old was to open accounts on eBay and PayPal using my old iBook G3 (before even going downstairs to open birthday presents). And now all my 88 positive reviews are for nought, because eBay blocked me.If anybody reads this, please let me know an email address in eBay so I can contact a real human to verify that my account is real. This is not AI, this is not a drill, this is the real world and life is just a little complicated.

Launch HN: Azalea Robotics (YC S24) – Baggage-handling robots for airportshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42390761Hey HN! We’re David and John B, cofounders of Azalea Robotics (https://www.azalearobotics.com). We build robots to handle passenger baggage in airports. Here are some videos to give you the idea:Unedited autonomous ops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuJ3ZORnO1oTeleoperated (sped up, so no sound): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeK8NQLnYgAThe marketing version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0SDPm09U6sRobotics is in an interesting place right now, with many warehouse automation companies humming along for almost a decade, and a lot of new effort going to full general purpose hardware with humanoids and software via generalist robotics foundation models. We love these efforts (David used to work on one at Google X with Everyday Robots), but we also see a lot of utility in the current wave of robotics planning and perception tech that can enable new use cases today.Airlines in the US compete primarily on efficiency and customer loyalty, and baggage handling hits both (John B. has fir

Show HN: How we leapfrogged traditional vector based RAG with a 'language map'https://twitter.com/mutableai/status/1813815706783490055TL;DR: Vector-based RAG performs poorly for many real-world applications like codebase chats, and you should consider 'language maps'.Part of our mission at Mutable.ai is to make it much easier for developers to build and understand software. One of the natural ways to do this is to create a codebase chat, that answer questions about your repo and help you build features. It might seem simple to plug in your codebase into a state-of-the-art LLM, but LLMs have two limitations that make human-level assistance with code difficult:1. They currently have context windows that are too small to accommodate most codebases, let alone your entire organization's codebases.2. They need to reason immediately to answer any questions without thinking through the answer "step-by-step."We built a chat sometime a year ago based on keyword retrieval and vector embeddings. No matter how hard we tried, including training our own dedicated embedding model, we could not get the chat to get us good performance.
