Show HN: I built an GPT-4o powered Siri for Apple Devices and it's not an Apphttps://www.getshortcuts.ai/Hi HN community,It's 2024, ChatGPT has been around for about 2 years. And the voice assistant still couldn't understand you. So I decided to change that. I built an GPT-4o powered Siri to work across all apple devices. Setup in 1 minute.Simply say "Hey, Siri Ultra" to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch or Vision Pro to start a continuous chat with AI (even when your iPhone is locked). No need to buy new "AI Gadget" (sorry AI Pin, Rabbit R1, Limited Pendant, etc.), use what you already have. Nothing to learn, it use Siri voice interface, you may already know how to activate Siri so that you can stay in your flow. Even no new app to be installed! It's a shortcuts that takes 1 minute to setup and works across all your devices (thanks to iCloud sync).Besides conversation, it helps you get more done. Search information from the web, summarize, take a note, call a number, take a photo (yes, it has VISION!), etc... You can get from question to answer, from problem to results ultra fast all iMay 29, 2024 6:17 PM

Show HN: I made a minimalistic AI assistant to assist infrastructure engineershttps://pypi.org/project/infraai/I made a minimalistic AI assistant to assist infrastructure engineers. I work on infra-related stuff and have to search for some commands that I don't recall at times. Worst is while I am working with colleagues, some just don't trust my intuition and challenge me if the command I am about to run is correct and that it doesn't bring down prod. Enough said this will help me at least to get the correct commands without the tons of side details. This assistant uses Google Gemini to fetch the information. The reason to choose Gemini is that it's free and I cannot afford right now to pay for GPT 3 or 4 from OpenAI.May 29, 2024 6:00 AM

Re: Google AI Overviews – Genuinely, Why?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40494188Why does Google (supposedly) think AI Overviews are a good feature? This might come across as a blatant attempt to bash Google's AI Overviews, but is actually a genuine question that I've been asking myself constantly over the past few days. Wanted to post here to see if the HN community had any takes/insight that I might be missing. My confusion comes from multiple places:1. Destroying the trustworthiness of the Google brand. It's hard for me to believe that Google would intentionally destroy decades of earned trustworthiness and goodwill toward its core product and money maker by pinning AI answers that will always inherently (due to the technology) have a chance of being completely false. Google search has become a meme, not just in tech circles but in the wider world. Every news publication seems to have reported on this. People that I've never heard talking about technology are aware of this. I simply can't wrap my head around the calculus of this - Sissie Hsiao (VP of Gemini/AssistMay 27, 2024 8:10 PM

GetnFIT.io is a marketplace that helps connect health and fitness service providers to consumers. Our objective is to help consumers take control of, and improve all aspects of their physical health by providing them access to various in-person and online (where possible) services covering fitness, recovery, nutrition and diagnostics domains.A bit of background:During the pandemic, we became acutely aware that we weren’t really optimizing for health. Also, our experience as consumers of health and fitness services was not finding good, peer reviewed fitness facilities /personal trainers / sports groups. We like most people were unidimensional in our approach towards health i.e. focusing on either physical activity or nutrition or recovery but not tying them all together. Many athletes and sports teams have professionals helping them optimize all domains of health and fitness. Therefore, we decided to build a platform that address all these issues that we faced and bring a holistic May 23, 2024 7:57 PM

We support all major healthcare IT systems in the US. Try out our product and watch a demo video here: https://docs.metriport.com/medical-api/getting-started/quick.... Oh and here's our github: https://github.com/metriport/metriport.If you’ve been to doctors in the US, you may have encountered the problem: how does a healthcare provider get access to your up-to-date medical history to treat you properly? Reliance on archaic methods is still the norm: typically you, or your provider, need to call the facilities where you’ve previously received treatment (assuming you remember them all), just to have them send your records via fax (yep, fax). This can take weeks, only then to have a provider sift through hundreds of pages of unstructured docs, just to figure out basic things like your activMay 23, 2024 3:38 PM

Ask HN: Can we still run mobile computers off AA batteries?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40447333This question came out of a lunchtime conversation with some colleagues, none of us who work in hardware or embedded: there was a period of time, up to the late 90s, where certain mobile computers and PDAs could be run off AAs for a long period of time, with sacrifices of I/O, display fidelity, and storage. Examples at the end.Beyond size and aesthetics, is this possible today – or is this no longer possible?(For example, do modern displays hoover up too much energy? Do 5G, Bluetooh and WiFi radios constantly suck power?)Here were some examples of late-era portables that ran off AAs that we came up with:- the Psion palmtop series used a couple of AAs, plus a coin cell battery for memory; and ran for a week [1]– the Apple eMate, a Newton (ARM) in clamshell laptop form, which ran off 6 AA rechargable cells that could be swapped for off-the-shelf AAs, and ran for a week as well;– similarly, the AlphaSmart Dana (Palm platform on 68k/ColdFire) and HP 200LX palmtops (PC-compatible) could be May 22, 2024 10:12 PM
