Ask HN: Where can I ask for code reviews online without being roasted for fun?This may just be a cognitive bias on my side of things, but, I've found that a lot of the time when you ask people you don't work with to review your code, they tend to review it savagely, and with the intent of completely, and absolutely destroying you for "likes", "upvotes", etc.A lot of the time I just want to figure out if I'm going down the right path before I have anything perfect, or breathlessly beautiful to ask for feedback on.A lot of the time, I'm learning a new technology or a new paradigm and don't know what I'm doing, and, asking for help on Reddit or StackOverflow usually just means being roasted.Is there any way to avoid the roasts?Is there a different community everyone goes to?

Show HN: My Single-File Python Script I Used to Replace Splunk in My StartupMy immediate reaction to today's news that Splunk was being acquired was to comment in the HN discussion for that story:"I hated Splunk so much that I spent a couple days a few months ago writing a single 1200 line python script that does absolutely everything I need in terms of automatic log collection, ingestion, and analysis from a fleet of cloud instances. It pulls in all the log lines, enriches them with useful metadata like the IP address of the instance, the machine name, the log source, the datetime, etc. and stores it all in SQlite, which it then exposes to a very convenient web interface using Datasette.I put it in a cronjob and it's infinitely better (at least for my purposes) than Splunk, which is just a total nightmare to use, and can be customized super easily and quickly. My coworkers all prefer it to Splunk as well. And oh yeah, it's totally free instead of costing my company thousands of dollars a year! Ask HK: Why hasn't bfcache been implemented more broadly across the internet?Often there is an obsession with something that you just can't let go, and to me, that's the fact that bfcache hasn't been more widely implemented to this day on internet. Essentially, bfcache allows a page to be stored in the browser cache, so when you browse back and forth, it instantly loads from the cache instead of reloading. This is a godsend if you frequently navigate between pages, such as going from site A to site B and then back to site A.I remember back in the day when Opera still ran on Presto, and I absolutely loved this feature. However, Firefox has some settings that enable this functionality, but even now, it doesn't work on all pages. It's particularly annoying that it doesn't work on relatively simple pages like old.reddit.com.Anyway, what is your take on this? It just seems like one of those amazing ideas that browser developers, for some weird reason, are too hesitant to implement. I wish there was a way to force bfcache on some pages. Tell HN: Stripe killed my music locker service, so I'm open sourcing itI'm writing this to warn anyone who might have a similar service, including backup hosting services.I run a small website at inter.tube. It lets you upload your music collection and stores it in Backblaze B2. It provides a simple web interface to listen to your collection, and support for the Subsonic API (allowing native apps to use it). Fundamentally it is not very different from something like Dropbox or Backblaze: it is a "dumb" backup that simply stores what you give it. It doesn't perform "matching" against other files, it doesn't allow you to access music you didn't explicitly upload, and it doesn't even deduplicate files between different users. It doesn't allow "sharing" of music either, download links are tied to a short access token for a specific user's login session. The only difference between other backup services is that we use the metadata tags in your uploads to organize things better. According to Capitol Records, Inc. v.
