Ask HN: What's the most compelling paranormal evidence you found online?Interested to see what this community might come up with, or whether it gets instantly trashed on for being too whimsical of a question. I don't mean aliens or UFOs necessarily, but more ghosts, hauntings, skinwalkers, Missing 411, Bigfoot, and other sorts of entities that are of Earth but not earthly by our understanding. Do you think there exists phenomena that can't be explained by our current knowledge of creatures, humans, and science?Years ago I stumbled upon this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ghostsofcarmelmaine451 which is a bit notorious already on Reddit and other paranormal threads but has always been on the obscure side. Even with a TV show feature they had, though I haven't seen any clips of it or know where you can watch it: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32872957/.There's a lot of noise but there was one video in particular that was unlisted and is currently removed entitled "DAYMARES", which contains some of the most interesting footage or paranormal entities I've eve

Jaw health campaign – looking for fundingI'm working on a project to increase recognition of craniofacial dystrophy and the jaw epidemic.I think this is a major under-addressed health problem and some researchers from Stanford agree: https://news.stanford.edu/stories/2020/07/toll-shrinking-jaws-human-healthAs far as I know, I'm the only person working on setting up a sustained patient-led effort to raise awareness of this issue. Dr Mike Mew and the Jaw Epidemic authors are also active but I think something needs to come directly from the patients.I'm currently living in a caravan and my costs, including server costs, are about £700 a month. I get some UK state benefits of up to £400/month. I've been borrowing from family but this is wearing thin.Wondering if anyone in the hacker community would be interested in funding this effort, or could put me in touch with someone who might be?The project is www.jawhealth.org.Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDSqLg_7u2Q

Show HN: Repo Linked – Manage 100 Git Repositories from One DashboardHi HN,I’ve spent years juggling dozens of Git repos—microservices, client projects, side gigs. Constant cd-ing and git status across folders was killing productivity, so I built Repo Linked: a desktop app (Angular 20 + Electron 37) that lets you monitor and manage all your repos from one dashboard. It tracks branch status and conflicts in real time, supports bulk operations (reset, sync, switch) across 100+ repos, and includes GitHub org cloning plus quick links to VS Code or a terminal. It runs on macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon); Windows and Linux builds are next.I’m also prototyping a “Journal” module for daily notes and auto-generated weekly reports.Feedback welcome: what features would make multi-repo work easier for you? https://repolinked.comWould love feedback from this community: what features would you want in a multi‑repo productivity tool? Anything about your own workflow that frustrates you? Here’s the repo/tool link: [https://repolinked.com/].YouTube: [https://youtu.be/BZXu6a8

Show HN: Davia – A community platform to build, share, and edit applicationsHi HN!I'm Ruben, the founder of Davia (https://davia.ai/). Davia is a platform to build, edit and share applications, where builders get rewarded based on usage while users can discover and reuse any app's code to fit their own needs. The problem we're trying to solve: Today's AI coding platforms charge you upfront for creation - it's like paying per block modification in no-code solutions. This works for commercial projects because you're aiming to generate revenue that exceeds your creation costs, but doesn't fit the reality of side projects and community apps that builders share for free. Most side projects require significant SEO effort and marketing to reach people who would actually find them useful, leaving creators with great apps but no discoverability. For users, when you need a specific tool for your project, you don't want to build it from scratch when someone has probably already created something similar. Our solution is a YouTube-style platform for apps where builders publ

Show HN: ThumbFlow AI – Create viral YouTube thumbnails in seconds with AIHey everyone! I recently built ThumbFlow AI, an AI-powered tool that creates viral YouTube thumbnails in seconds. I'd like to share it with the HN community.*How it started:* As a solo maker, I kept seeing creators struggling with thumbnail creation - either spending hours learning design tools or paying $50+ for each thumbnail from freelancers. Most existing AI tools produce mediocre results that don't actually drive clicks. I thought there had to be a better way to solve this.*What makes ThumbFlow different?**4-in-1 AI toolkit in one chat interface:* - Text-to-Image: Just describe your scene, get a complete thumbnail - Background Transform: Upload any photo, AI changes the background while keeping the subject - Face Swap: Natural face replacement for brand consistency - Smart Edit: Use plain English like "make the text bolder" or "darker sky"*Built for actual results:* Early users report 3x higher click-through rates compared to their previous thumbnails. One creator told me a thumbn

Seeking co-founders: music tech startupDear community!Long story short: I seek for prospective startup co-founders. My idea (and already working prototypes): use sensor-based wearabled to let people play music without any knowledge of skill. You can view the product here: www.musdev.euI have spent >10 years creating various music-playing/music-generating games, including usage of smartphone/smartwatch sensors, i.e., I have big experience and even bigger dedication to the topic. Some of them are present at early videos on my Youtube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgcOxK6XFEyg6Bu6jBbU-Ag/On this channel shorts demonstrate usage of the product (2+ self-made wearable devices) allowing for playing of the music tracks. Long videos mostly explain how it is done. The corresponding Android App:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Nature.CotE&hl=en-US&pli=1implements some experimental algorithm for music creation from scratch, and is usable without additional devices.Closer to the point: despite many people I ta

Launch HN: Regatta Storage (YC F24) – Turn S3 into a local-like, POSIX cloud FSHey HN, I’m Hunter the founder of Regatta Storage (https://regattastorage.com). Regatta Storage is a new cloud file system that provides unlimited pay-as-you-go capacity, local-like performance, and automatic synchronization to S3-compatible storage. For example, you can use Regatta to instantly access massive data sets in S3 with Spark, Pytorch, or pandas without paying for large, local disks or waiting for the data to download.Check out an overview of how the service works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh1q5p7E4JY, and you can try it for free at https://regattastorage.com after signing up for an account. We wanted to let you try it without an account, but we figured that “Hacker News shares a file system and S3 bucket” wouldn’t be the best experience for the community.I built Regatta after spending nearly a decade building and operating at-scale cloud storage at places like Amazon’s Elastic File System (EFS) and Netflix. During my 8 years at EFS, I learned a lot about how tea

Ask HN: Are there strategies for content creators to prove their location? With a looming snap election in Germany, there is revived discussion in Europe and Germany on regulating internet platforms and social media to make foreign election interference and misinformation campaigns harder to carry out.Regulating or moderating digital discourse to combat misinformation is notoriously difficult on many levels, but one model that has seen some adoption is offering additional information and context to consumers of digital information. For example, YouTube displays contextual information under videos that discuss certain topics, and Twitter/X has the community notes feature. To mitigate foreign misinformation, a potentially powerful piece of context in the run-up to elections could be whether or not the content was posted from a device located within the European Union (EU). For the sake of argument, assume that the goal is to offer social media users the option to verify that their social media post was sent from a device physically located within the EU. Unverif

Show HN: Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age. The world’s first hacker comicHi HN! We’re VRN Comics (https://www.vrncomics.com/), creator of Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age, the world’s first hacker comic. In a nutshell:- Hackers are depicted negatively in mainstream media, with lots of misinformation and stereotypes. It’s common to see hackers cast as hoodie-wearing criminals or misanthropes, who execute hacks unrealistically. A classic example is the movie Swordfish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Ds9CeG-VY- This comic was created with the infosec community in mind, to break down such stereotypes. The storyline features a hacker vigilante as the hero, and all hacking scenes — from social engineering and firmware hacking — are portrayed as they’d happen in the real world.- Another aim is to bring hacks to life and show the world how ethical hackers really work, so that folks can be inspired and enjoy the story regardless of cybersecurity experience. You can download the full debut issue free on our website (https://www.vrncomics.com/, email required)

Show HN: Poker Skills Website for Beginners – With Boss/Panic ScreenI enjoy playing poker with my friends, but I have to admit, I’m a classic ‘fish’, particularly after a beer!I’ve created a web app where fellow fish can practice their poker skills for free against bots.www.pokerpupil.comAs a homage to old computer games, I’ve added a boss/panic screen: press ‘b’ to open a fake spreadsheet. (Desktop web only)My hope is us fellow fish can rise up and take down our next home game.I built the game in Flutter, using this tutorial as a base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSN2hBf8D5QThings I liked about Flutter:(1) Components are fun to build. The instant preview when you save your code never gets old.(2) Lots of really nice pre-built UI to get you up and running quickly.(3) Write the code once, launch on multiple surfaces (iOS, Android, Web, Mac, Windows). This capability is inspiring me to build a lot more software!(4) Decent community of developers.Things that were less good:(1) Takes a while to load, particularly on mobile. (~4MB download)(2) Seems too
