Show HN: BrowserOS -- browser agents with GPT-OSS, local llmsHi HN – we're the founders of BrowserOS.com (YC S24), and we're building an open-source agentic web browser. We're a fork of Chromium and our goal is to let non-developers create and run useful agents locally on their browser.--- When we launched a month ago, we thought we had the right approach: a "one-shot" agent where you give it a high-level task like "order toothpaste from Amazon," and it would figure out the plan and execute it.But we quickly ran into a problem that we've been struggling with ever since: the user experience was completely hit-or-miss. Sometimes agent worked like magic, but other times the agent would get stuck, generate a wrong plan, or just wander off course. It wasn't reliable enough for anyone to trust it.This forced us to go back to the drawing board and question the UX. We spent the last few weeks experimenting with three different ways a user could build an agent:A) Drag-and-drop workflows: Similar to tools like n8n. This approach creates very reliable agen

Show HN: DanceJump – play a DDR-style dance game on YouTube (Chrome and Edge)Hi HN,DanceJump is a small browser-based, DDR-style rhythm game that runs directly on top of YouTube videos. The Edge add-on was just approved, so it’s now available on both Chrome and Edge. The idea is simple: press play on any YouTube video and get instant DDR-style gameplay. Step charts are auto-generated from the audio, so there’s no need to search for chart files or set anything up. With auto-charting, the goal is accessibility and low friction: making rhythm gameplay easy to access. It is still possible to load and play your stepfiles from disk for pro experience.Controls & inputKeyboard: WASD Steps B Start N SelectSelect + W/S: Change DifficultyHold Select (2s): Join Game (Multiplayer only)Dance Pad / Controller: D-Pad / ABXY Steps Start / Menu Start Select / Back SelectSettingsAll settings are available from the extension puzzle/menu popup, pin it for easy access.- Audio sync / offset adjustment (important for TVs, HDMI, Bluetooth audio) - Difficulty and density controls - Input

Ask HN: How to gain a solid understanding of IMUs?My background is primarily software (Python, AI/ML, large-scale data). This is my first serious hardware-heavy product.I’m working on a company concept that depends on embedded IMUs, and I’m trying to front-load learning so I don’t lock myself into poor architectural, software or component decisions early on, especially those pitfalls that someone with more knowledge/expertise would know how to avoid.I understand “learning by doing” is essential, but I suspect there are canonical pitfalls and resources I should study before committing deeply to hardware. Here are the parameters of the project:* The IMU environment will be abusive, with vibrations and impacts. The vibrations and impacts are not the object of analysis (i.e. noise), but I do want to account for them so they do not pollute the data and design the platform so the platform survives.* I will need low-power/sleep/wake-on-accel in order to achieve the desired battery life.* The IMUs will transmit to a gateway via bluetooth in sh

Show HN: Low-backlash Angular gearbox and 3D-printed wrist differential [video]I recently spent several months designing and prototyping a low-backlash angular gear drive. The goal was to create a compact transmission for robotic wrists that avoids bevel gears and belts — while still transmitting torque smoothly at various angles. The design was inspired by roller pinion linear systems, but adapted for angular motion. Paper: https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/12/11/5620To be honest, I couldn’t figure out the tooth profile for the straight pinion variant, so I brute-forced it — by writing a script that rotates two bodies at a set gear ratio and performs boolean cuts between them.I 3D-printed several prototypes, including a working wrist differential with embedded reducers and a double hollow shaft drive. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/VXcuryyRGboWould love to get feedback — especially from those working in robotics or mechanical design.

Show HN: DashPack – Turn a car window switch into a family‑friendly soundboardHere is the hacked together *DashPack*, a tiny CAN‑bus interface that listens for the window‑up switch in my 2018 Porsche Macan and plays movie quotes through the car’s AUX input. It gives passengers (especially kids) something fun to do that doesn’t involve touching any “unsafe while driving” controls.---### Why?* The only controls reachable by back‑seat passengers that don’t affect driving are the seat and window switches. * A single, familiar control with two modes: * **Short press** – triggers a *random* clip (e.g. a “pew‑pew” laser sound). * **Auto‑up hold** – triggers a *known* clip (e.g. Spaceballs: “Thank you for pushing the self‑destruct button”). * Adds a bit of shared, in‑car comedy without screens or Bluetooth headaches.---### How it works1. *Hardware* * Raspberry Pi (or any Linux box with `socketcan`) * USB‑to‑CAN adapter (I used an InnoMaker USB2CAN) * 3.5 mm audio out → car’s AUX jack (I used a cheap 2.4 GHz TX/RX pair to hide the Pi in the cargo area) 2. *Wiring (Macan

Show HN: Zapbox Link: fully-featured 6-DoF VR with your iPhoneI'm one of the core developers of Zapbox - a VR/MR headset for iPhone (11 and later) including two tracked Bluetooth controllers. We have just released our "Zapbox Link" app which allows streaming PC VR content to Zapbox. The Zapbox controllers have Quest-compatible inputs so lots of content works out of the box. You'll need a gaming PC with an NVIDIA GPU (GTX 1060 or later). With the code 'FREEALYX' you can pick up both a Zapbox and Half-Life: Alyx for under $100 (HL:Alyx is currently 66% off on Steam, and the code gives you the equivalent saving off the price of Zapbox). As this is HN I'll give a bit more technical detail, and I'm very happy to answer any questions in the comments:- This is way more than Cardboard. The aim is to get as close as possible to the experience of dedicated VR headsets, including the all-important physical interactions enabled by tracked controllers.- The headset is really lightweight and has a very open design. The design was actually intended for Mixed Reali

Show HN: Pico-ASHA – Audio streaming to hearing aids using a RPi Pico WThe past several months, I have been developing a method of streaming audio to my hearing aids from a PC. To do this, I have programmed a Pi Pico W to act as a USB audio device which will work with any OS and be capable of playing audio on my hearing aids. For a bit of background, modern hearing aids have different methods of directly streaming audio over bluetooth. The earliest (and most common) is Apple's Made for iPhone program. Phonak hearing aids use bluetooth classic (A2DP). Many devices support Android's Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA). And the latest hearing aids are beginning to support the new LE Audio standard. The goal of Pico-ASHA is to implement Android's ASHA. Android has published a specification at https://source.android.com/docs/core/connect/bluetooth/asha. The reference implementation is in the AOSP project.Pico-ASHA presents itself as USB headset (and a CDC serial device) to the OS. Apart from the Pico W, no additional hardware is required. Pairing to hearing
