Show HN: Open-source pixel art editor with animation and auto-tiling tilesetshttps://simplepixelart.com/editorHi HN! I built a free pixel art editor that runs entirely in the browser — no install, no signup, no watermark. The frontend is open source (MIT): https://github.com/comficker/simplepixelartWhat it does:- Sprite editor with layers, selections, mirror drawing, and an infinite-canvas workspace (multiple boards on one desk)- Frame-by-frame animation with onion skin, per-frame duration, GIF and spritesheet export- Tileset builder that auto-generates Wang-16 and blob-47 terrain sets from a single base tile — exports Godot 4 TileSet, Tiled .tsx, or PNG+JSON — plus a tilemap painter to test terrains in the browser- Isometric (2:1 dimetric) grid mode with an iso-line tool- Image-to-pixel-art converter: median-cut quantization, live adjustments, and a "pixel cleaner" that removes orphan pixelsSome technical bits:- The renderer is a hand-rolled 2D canvas — no engine, no WebGL. Pixel maps are plain objects keyed "x_y" with an incremental dirty-pixel buffer, so a brush stroke costs ~0.006ms/frame

Ask HN: Can trivial LLM calls be compiled into conventional data pipelines?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49199957We are investigating whether recurring LLM workloads can be replaced, where appropriate, by automatically constructed pipelines of regexes, deterministic parsers, traditional ML and NLP models. As an example, suppose an application repeatedly asks a frontier model to read an annual report and return all customer–supplier relationships as structured records containing a customer, supplier, and supporting evidence.A possible replacement pipeline might run named-entity recognition, entity normalization, candidate generation, entity linking, relation extraction, and schema validation. A calibrated uncertainty or out-of-distribution gate would use the pipeline for inputs inside its validated domain and escalate other cases to the original frontier model.NER → entity normalization → candidate generation → entity linking → relation extraction → schema validationOur current action space is a taxonomy of 41 atomic task types spanning classification, token and span labeling, structured extraction

Poker and Liar's Dice over Bluetooth Low Energyhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49199753I remember being able to play poker and trivia with random strangers on cross country flights on the IFE screens. For some reason, they took that away, so I decided to make some myself. The first two games are here: Poker - * iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/airplane-mode-poker/id6791247916 * Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.testco.airplanemode.pokerLiar's Dice - * Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.testco.airplanemode.liarsdice * [iOS still in review]BLE was the choice to have it work cross-platform and support multiple players. There is no Internet access and there is no analytics or app tracking. The game literally doesn't ask for the permissions to access the Internet. It costs $2.99 as a one time unlock to host and $0 to join a game.Thoughts on other games?

Show HN: Mnemosyne – Export AI chat to carry context from one tool into anotherhttps://github.com/TheJoin95/mnemosyne/blob/main/README.mdHi HN, recently I was running out of token on different providers such as Claude, Copilot and Codex and their free or trail plan for personal purpose.I do change often model or provider but sometimes it's difficult to provide the same good context as another tool, so I was wondering to create an utility to help me in doing that.I've created a CLI utility with an easy UI to discover the local chat sessions from the popular tools e.g. Claude and export in markdown/json file the full or the tail of the session towards another model.By doing that I'm able to have a checkpoint and load it to a different tool or model.I thought it could help others to continue experimenting while still being in the free plan of a LLM cloud provider.Any feedback is appreciated, I'll be around for questions if there are any.

Show HN: Stop Animated Images from Autoplayinghttps://neonglow.studio/gif-control/I’ve always been annoyed that browsers autoplay GIFs and other animated images. So I made GIF Control, a browser extension that stops animated images by default, shows the first frame, and adds a simple play/stop button directly on the image so you decide when motion starts and stops.I built it with Codex. It’s available for Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Opera.Bug reports, feedback, and advice on how to make it open source are very welcome.I’m a UX & Product Designer experimenting with building my ideas using AI. We maintain mcp-use an open-source TypeScript framework for building MCP servers and MCP Apps: https://github.com/mcp-use/mcp-use MCP is now (finally) stateless so we rewrote mcp-use v2 from scratch for the 2026-07-28 MCP spec revision: https://blog.modelcontextprotocol.io/posts/2026-07-28/Thanks to the rebuild:- Throughput: +27% → from 8,615 to 10,982 median ops/sec- Cold launch: 2.2x faster → from 151.6 ms to 68.1 ms- Clean install: 82% smaller → from 404.6 MiB to 74.4 MiBBenchmark with methodology here: https://github.com/mcp-use/mcp-use/blob/main/benchmark.mdWhat changed in the spec:1. No more sessions. The initialize/initialized exchange and the Mcp-Session-Id header are gone (SEP-2575, SEP-2567). Every request carries its own protocol version, client identity, and capabilities in _meta. Server discovery is an optional server/discover RPC instead of a mandatory round trip.2. Multi round-trip requests replace server-initiated calls (SEP-2322). Now the server retu

Launch HN: ProvenMetal (YC S26) delivers circuit boards in days instead of weekshttps://provenmetal.comHey HN, we’re Will & Johnny from ProvenMetal (https://provenmetal.com). You send us design files or specs and we give you assembled boards domestically in days. The US produced 30% of PCBs globally in 2000, now they produce 4%. Chinese manufacturers have completely dominated this space at 55% of global production. Now, the need for a domestic PCB supply chain is higher than ever before, yet the infrastructure has been dissolving over the last 2 decades. What is left is mostly small family run manufacturers (CMs) that have been operating in largely the same, labor intensive way since the early 2000’s.When you place an order through a CM it typically takes several days to receive a quote and complete design for manufacture review, and then you have to source all of the components (the hardest part) and bare boards yourself, then wait anywhere from a few days to several weeks for the assembly and testing of those boards. We started off assembling circuit boards out of a garage with prosumer

Show HN: Aster, a polyglot monorepo build orchestratorhttps://github.com/archastro/asterWe built Aster to support our polyglot monorepo 'firstlanding'. At ArchAstro, we use Elixir, Python, TypeScript, Go, and Rust. I wanted something that just orchestrates those tools without Bazel-level complexity. It didn’t exist, so we built it.Aster discovers your existing project files (mix.exs, package.json, Cargo.toml, go.mod, …), builds one graph, and runs targets in order. You can extend it by writing aster.toml files to specify new targets and dependencies or override existing ones. Aster supports a local services runner - it lets you define a set of services to launch with one command and conventions to do this per worktree so each worktree can have it's own private environment. We also use Aster in CI to only build targets that were affected by a particular change.Aster is a core tool we use to increase our productivity with agentic engineering. We took a lot of care in making sure agents can figure out how to use it to run tests, and the services runner lets each agent effect

Ask HN: AI rollout for 100 employees, mostly non-technical – what worked?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49197894Looking to roll out AI tools to my corporate team of around 100 employees. We have some engineers, but most are non-technical people (ops, finance, marketing, and site-level managers). What I want to avoid:- everyone pasting company data into random consumer AI tools with zero visibility or control. - everyone making their own version of the same tool over and over. - lots of different server instances all over the place that IT doesn't know about. What I'm looking for:- Sanctioned AI access with some admin visibility (usage policies, data retention, permissions by team) - Ideas for shared infrastructure and how to collaborate on projects better. - Visibility for teams to see what other people have built. - Encourages adoption/collaboration (shared prompts, internal use cases) rather than locking things down so hard nobody uses itI really appreciate the HN community because a lot of you are way ahead of me in this process.
