Show HN: ComicInk – AI tool that turns a prompt into a full comic bookhttps://www.comicink.aiHi HN, I'm Sanjoy. I've always loved comic books and stories but can't draw. So I built ComicInk: describe a story, the AI generates a complete comic book — consistent characters across panels, dialogue, cover art, the whole thing.No-signup demo at comicink.ai/quick — type a prompt, watch Gemini write a dramatic teaser of your story in real-time while the cover + page 1 render (~2 min). Free signup unlocks the full 4-page comic. The hard problem was character consistency. Most AI image tools treat each generation independently, so your hero's face morphs between panels. ComicInk stores per-character reference images + structured attributes (age group, build, hair, distinguishing features) and injects them into every panel prompt. Not perfect, but substantially better than raw text-to-image.Translation worked out better than I expected: a click renders the comic in 10+ languages while the panel art stays identical — only the dialogue and captions change. The public reader auto-detects th

Show HN: Sampletext.store/ We built a dumb web shop and we cannot look awayhttps://sampletext.store/So this all started two weeks ago as a stupid inside joke with friends in a group chat where we got a chatgpt powered bot to write plugins for itself and told it to build one that would make it fetch a random image from Wikipedia and then place words from the same article onto it. Often times it would just return mangled garbage or be completely incoherent but every now and then something astoundingly funny or profound would break through (if you have that certain 2005 idiotic internet humor that we/I certainly suffer from). And well a sleepless weekend and two maxed out copilot subscriptions later, what I can only describe as antipattern for the pure sake of having dumb fun actually went live. For an added bonus, some banger keygen chiptunes are highly reccomended for browsing. Might put that in at some point in the future...And on the incredibly minuscule chance that you even know or remember ][CdK][… sup bucko, we still ain’t dead.

Show HN: Brifly – stop re-explaining your codebase to Claude Code every weekhttps://www.getbrifly.com/Hey HN -- I built Brifly because I was tired of reexplaining the same architecture to Claude Code/AI Agents every time. You can have a memory layer where you store everything about your company or project. When an AI agent is used by an engineer, you can simply ask it to use the CLI, and it will go and retrieve the relevant information. There is also management of who last edited a file, so you can understand who is responsible for the latest context level changes stored in Brifly. You can create different spaces, invite people to them, create threads for discussions, and add video and audio messages. By the way, transcriptions from video messages are also taken into account by the AI chat when you ask questions.I believe this is a great tool for teams, or even for solo users, especially when you have a lot of information and need to keep it updated all the time. There are also other cool features that can be useful. It is completely free, and if you need AI features, just add your OpenAI

Ask HN: Package Registryhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47959606I've been migrating off-of GitHub and noticed that codeberg does not allow you to set visibility on packages per-repository or even per-package.If your org is public, then so are all packages you publish. If you set this org to private, you cannot have any public projects.I could technically create two orgs, but I would prefer keeping everything under one. This leaves me with the following options:- host my own registry (registry:2 or harbor seem popular, but I am afraid of the traffic it might bring. I could throw it under tailscale, though.)- Keep these pacakges on the GHCR registry, although that doesn't seem like a good long-term solutionWhat's you guys' experience with this? I don't mind self-hosting things, but setting these up seems like a big chore. I already have forgejo runners, because this was easy to set-up in docker+dind (yes, this isnt very secure, but the box its running on has nothing sensitive).

Ask HN: Anyone feel like they're just opting out of tech these days?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47955552I would love to really understand if I will ever change my outlook now. Until 2019/2020 I was super into tech, gadgets, and keeping up with trends. At some point in the last 5-6 years, I have pretty much adopted an opt-out view on tech.I just don't care anymore, and I don't think it is because I got older... I got into tech in my mid/late 20s so I wasn't a born nerd like most of you guys tinkering with stuff since childhood. The rate as products/services enshittify has intensified, and most products/services I use have so many issues that require workarounds, hacks, or just dealing with terrible UX.I used to spend 10s of thousands of dollars on tech back then, like the latest stuff both software and hardware. These days, I just use whatever free smartphone I get from Verizon for 2-3 years. When I look at old photos I can't really tell the difference between photos from my iPhone 7 and my iPhone 15 or whatever (I don't even know the model).I bought a used M1 Max for $950 and I'm still usin

Show HN: MAItion – Open-source RAG with pluggable connectors and chat UIhttps://github.com/WikiTeq/mAItionHey HN,We wanted to share a new tool we’ve been working on.Even when documentation is well-structured, sometimes it’s hard to find what you need. Information ends up spread across wikis, cloud drives, chat tools, ticketing systems, etc., and search can break down as info grows.mAItion is our attempt to solve that. It’s a way to unify search and retrieval across the systems that teams already use. It's an open-source alternative to tools like Glean and GetGuru, but it’s designed to be flexible, lightweight, self-hostable, and easier to adapt. What it does:- Ingests data from all the connected sources and builds vector and BM25 index- Converts the data into markdown (using MarkItDown, configurable)- Lets you run Hybrid search across the data stored via API or MCP- Lets you chat with the data using Open Web UI as a frontend (bundled) or connect other arbitrary chat UI- Keeps the data fresh using scalable Celery workers (per source schedules)- Deduplicates documents over sources during inge
