Show HN: TakeHome – LLC vs. S-Corp tax calculator for solopreneurshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47401674I got tired of doing rough napkin math on whether to elect S-Corp for my LLC, so I built a calculator over the weekend. Most tools I found either ignore state/city taxes, charge you for the answer, or require creating an account to see anything useful. TakeHome runs entirely in your browser (no sign-up, no analytics, no server-side storage) and updates every number in real time as you drag sliders. What it models: - LLC self-employment tax vs. S-Corp FICA on W-2 salary- QBI deduction (Section 199A) with SSTB phase-out- Solo 401(k) with SECURE 2.0 rules (traditional/Roth/split, catch-up limits by age bracket)- Self-employed health insurance deduction- S-Corp admin/compliance cost comparison- NY State income tax, franchise tax, PTET- NYC UBT (LLC), GCT (S-Corp), PIT with IT-219 creditYou can save scenarios, compare any two side by side (it shows exactly which inputs differ and the dollar impact), and run multi-dimensional "what-if" experiments. There's also an AI mode where you describe a sMar 16, 2026 5:04 PM

Winstwaker – automated bookkeeping with a real accountant attachedhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47401563Hey HN,I built Winstwaker, a bookkeeping service for Dutch businesses that pulls transactions directly from your bank and hands the clean data to a dedicated accountant.Running a small business in the Netherlands means dealing with a lot of admin. Most owners either hire a bookkeeper they rarely hear from or suffer through accounting software they don't fully understand. I wanted something in between. We built direct API connections to ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, bunq, and several others.Receipts, Mollie payouts, Stripe transactions, Shopify orders — it all flows in automatically. Your accountant sees the same live data and reaches out proactively instead of waiting for year-end panic. No manual exports, no chasing invoices, no surprise tax bills.Would love feedback from anyone who has dealt with Dutch tax administration or built similar hybrid service products.Mar 16, 2026 4:56 PM

The Quiet Normalization of Artificial Intelligencehttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47401303Over the past few years, it has become almost routine to hear warnings about artificial intelligence. Headlines often focus on the risks. Job displacement, algorithmic manipulation, surveillance, loss of control over autonomous systems. In public debates, AI frequently appears as a looming threat, something powerful and unpredictable that could reshape society in dangerous ways.Yet at the very same time that these fears dominate the conversation, something quieter has been unfolding. Millions of people have already woven artificial intelligence into their daily routines. They rely on algorithms to help write emails, ask digital assistants for research guidance, receive recommendations about what to watch or read, and use AI-powered tools to accelerate their work. The criticism grows louder, but the habit grows stronger. The data reveals a striking contradiction. A global study involving tens of thousands of participants found that around 66 percent of people worldwide already use artifiMar 16, 2026 4:40 PM

Show HN: I built an interactive Bible explorer with timelines, popups and mapshttps://bibelanalys.seI've been a software developer for over 40 years, and I wanted to show my father what modern AI tools can accomplish. So I started building an interactive Bible explorer as a demo. It quickly turned into a real project. AI got me to a presentable UI fast, but the generated code was full of duplicated components and inconsistencies. After four decades of writing software, I couldn't leave it like that :-) cleaning that up was the real work. The content side had its own challenges: structuring biblical events into timelines, cross-referencing encounters across gospels, and building tool-tips for terms and names all required careful manual curation, not just prompting. My father has been fact-checking everything against the texts. The site is free, no ads, and supports 9 languages with parallel translations, interactive timelines, maps, and story breakdowns.Curious what HN thinks about the UX. Also happy to discuss the experience of using AI as a development accelerator and where, even afteMar 16, 2026 4:39 PM

Launch HN: Voygr (YC W26) – A better maps API for agents and AI appshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47401042Hi HN, we’re Yarik and Vlad from VOYGR (https://voygr.tech/), working on better real-world place intelligence for app developers and agents. Here’s a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNIpcWIE0n4.Google Maps can tell you a restaurant is "4.2 stars, open till 10." Their API can't tell you the chef left last month, wait times doubled, and locals moved on. Maps APIs today just give you a fixed snapshot. We're building an infinite, queryable place profile that combines accurate place data with fresh web context like news, articles, and events.Vlad worked on the Google Maps APIs as well as in ridesharing and travel. Yarik led ML/Search infrastructure at Apple, Google, and Meta powering products used by hundreds of millions of users daily. We realized nobody was treating place data freshness as infrastructure, so we're building it.We started with one of the hardest parts - knowing whether a place is even real. Our Business Validation API (https://github.com/voygr-tech/dev-tools) tells yoMar 16, 2026 4:21 PM

Show HN: Snippets – AI-first legacy app: Record messages, deliver years laterhttps://mysnippets.comI grew up in Singapore, spent a decade in the US, now live in Canada. Family spread across multiple countries - I'm sure it's a typical story for several (most?) of the folks here.My dad passed suddenly in 2024, when he was traveling with my mom. This was my biggest nightmare growing up, when I first moved half the world away from my family in my teens...the one thing that jolts you awake at night ("...what if something happens to my parents and I'm not there?"), and it actually happened to me. My siblings and I had to scramble and get to Singapore asap to support my mom, manage all the procedures, gather all types of documents, figure out which accounts he had access to, talk to numerous banks/institutions, lawyers etc etc etc. It was overwhelming to deal with all this (and this was in Singapore, which tends to be very efficient!) while also having to deal with the grief of losing my dad. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone, but unfortunately, death is the one thing we will all Mar 16, 2026 1:33 PM

Ask HN: AI Agents vs. Gateways vs. Harnesseshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47397737Hi,I'd like to get everyone's take on the different components in the AI Agents ecoysystem. I find the current terminology quite confusing as it's not always obvious what I'll be actually getting when I examine the available options.A lot of things get called Agents, but that term seems hard to define as it often refers to overlapping functionality. To me, agents seem to be currently composed of the following components:## Harnesses- Adds UI and system instructions around an LLM and may also augment it with tools such as memory, tool calls, etc...- Examples are Claude Code, Code, Gemini CLI, pi.dev, ...## Gateways- These connect agents to your communication tool of choice, e.g. Whatsapp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, ...- Examples are OpenClaw and Nanoclaw## Sandboxes- Isolated environments where Agents can run with limited or auditable capabilities- Examples can be from physical ones like separate Mac Minis to docker-agent, agent-sandbox, localsandbox, ...This then takes us to *Agents*:##Mar 16, 2026 11:43 AM
