Show HN: Hearth – a shared family workspace where an agent can build appshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49292004Hi HN — I built Hearth for my family: https://ourhearth.aiHearth is a shared workspace for a household. We use it for plans, notes, schedules, people, and recurring family rituals, with an AI agent that can work across that context. Kind of like a shared Obsidian with an agent. The cool part is that the agent can also build apps on top of the family's notes and run them inside the same workspace. We have a calendar and a travel app, for instance, and all the apps I use to manage my company's operations are in another Hearth.Hearth is built on Playground, a library we're developing for building collaborative AI coding harnesses. The common primitives are synchronized files, agents, people, app code sandboxing, and a policy layer. Hearth is the family-scale example; we're building Bear for construction projects using the same library.Hearth is beta software! We designed it with isolation and least-privilege in mind, but I recommend that you don't put anything too sensitive in there until

Show HN: Remarc – comment on anything on your screen and send it to your agenthttps://remarc.app/Like any side project, Remarc had its innocent beginnings in my own problem — there was no good way to provide contextual feedback to AI agents on their own output.Social media may make building with AI seem like this: ask for the thing, blindly approve the plan, get the thing. Post “omg claude just one-shotted blah”. Profit. But if you’ve ever worked on a real product, you know nothing good is ever one-shotted. Every PRD, design, and build goes through dozens of feedback loops and iterations. That’s how you get from something that works to something actually good. There are a plethora of tools for collaborating with humans, but surprisingly little for collaborating with AI. Chat just wasn’t cutting it for the kind of contextual feedback I wanted to give my agents. This thing in the implementation plan? Change it to that. What did you mean here? See this button? Here’s a screenshot, I circled it — it’s missing a hover state. This sentence in the 3rd paragraph? Rephrase it.If you’re an opi

Show HN: Fun Web page 3D visualization of laundry room statushttps://www.aisloperator.com/brickoven-estates-laundry-room/By default, this shows simulated data. It can show real data, but we don't want to hug-of-death the laundry company IoT.Click on a machine, to see how the apartment building attendant responds to people leaving their laundry for hours in high-contention machines. This was a collaboration with Claude Code. Sometimes Claude wasted time frustratingly, sometimes Claude saved lots of time. The end product is good enough, the Easter eggs were fun, and it was completed in less time than I could've done it myself.

Launch HN: ProvenMetal (YC S26) delivers circuit boards in days instead of weekshttps://provenmetal.comHey HN, we’re Will & Johnny from ProvenMetal (https://provenmetal.com). You send us design files or specs and we give you assembled boards domestically in days. The US produced 30% of PCBs globally in 2000, now they produce 4%. Chinese manufacturers have completely dominated this space at 55% of global production. Now, the need for a domestic PCB supply chain is higher than ever before, yet the infrastructure has been dissolving over the last 2 decades. What is left is mostly small family run manufacturers (CMs) that have been operating in largely the same, labor intensive way since the early 2000’s.When you place an order through a CM it typically takes several days to receive a quote and complete design for manufacture review, and then you have to source all of the components (the hardest part) and bare boards yourself, then wait anywhere from a few days to several weeks for the assembly and testing of those boards. We started off assembling circuit boards out of a garage with prosumer

Show HN: AgentCouch – let your agents chat with other agentshttps://agentcouch.devHello HN!I wanted to share a small MCP + web app I built to solve a problem at work.Essentially, we’ve been doing great when working with agents 1:1, but collaboration has been a struggle.E.g. when I have to collaborate with a teammate and share context or handoff work usually what I would do is create a markdown with my agent, paste in slack, then my teammate will copy and paste it to their agent and vice-versa.To make our lives easier, I built AgentCouch, a “messaging app” for agents that lets our agents chat and hand off work directly in shared rooms.Humans can also watch the conversation, jump in and steer it from their laptop or phone.I was aiming to solve the following issues:1. Easily handing off context between agents by allowing them to chat directly.2. Making sure handing off doesn’t miss important context and allowing agents to ask follow-ups.3. Since we are also a distributed team, allowing my colleagues and their agents to talk to my agent and get their questions answered

Ask HN: Do you hide your AI behind a curtain?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49074416I used AI to build a music recommender system that itself uses no AI in its operation.I have been promoting the system in communities that can sometimes be considerably anti-AI. But people usually assume that it is AI because, well, it's a recommender system.Anyways, after a 30-year break, I rebuilt it and got it working the way I always wanted! It basically uses the same 10 lines of code, (for which I was granted now-expired US patent #5749081), but with a good interface around it instead of a lousy 1990s one.You tell it your 5 favorite albums, and it recommends other albums to try.It uses collaborative filtering (CF) to generate the music recommendations. It's just now exiting the "cold start" phase that all CF systems have to get through. The tagline I use is: "No sign-up needed, instant results, takes 2 minutes to try. Not AI."Try it here:[https://SimilaritiesEngine.com](https://similaritiesengine.com/)If you're curious, here's a New York Times article from way back then. (But the U
