Jitter. All of the mac os network simulators I tried apply a fixed constant delay with no jitter model. Real airplane satellite WiFi follows a log-normal distribution — most packets arrive near base RTT, but a few percent spike to 5-10x. AirplaneMode samples jitter from a log-normal distribution fit to real flight measurements.2. Userspace, with domain scoping and UDP support. No root required. A .mobileconfig profile routes only matched domains through the relay — the rest of your network is unaffected. The relay operates at the UDP packet level via MASQUE, so HTTP/3 and QUIC congestion control respond naturally to simulated conditions.3. Realistic Profiles. Quite quickly, we realized that Claude (or Gemini or Codex) are quite adept at creating a lot of code quickly but they aren’t always consistent. They don’t seem to modularize well, nor do they always remember past decisions. Playing around with Claude and Gemini on a number of projects, we incrementally created instructions over time to address the shortcomings we observed. But the browser really wasn't optimised for this kind of interaction. Editing was clunky (muscle memory would close the tab instead and wipe my work), going back and forth between the LLM and myself felt off. So I had an idea: what if I could turn a Markdown document into an LLM chat interface?At first I thought that would be enough - just do what I was already doing in the browser... but in Neovim. And sure enough having been accustomed to my own setup for the last decade I immediately felt a productivity boost.
