Claude Is Painfulhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48964237I cannot be the only person who feels this way. Claude is antogonistic and frankly an absolute nightmare to use. SLOW is an understatement... I get faster output from a 16GB mac mini using deepseek 8B model....and not much worse output...I ask Gemini something. I get a response in 10 seconds and its long and well detailed. I ask claude, it wastes my tokens talking to itself, makes insulting stupid and frankly rude shortcuts that have no basis in reason except for Anthropics profits...Its unuseable. It will just cough up a half complete reaponse, deciding to strip everything out of value...place nothing useful in, leave half finished files and then worst of all...it doesnt even putput them and leaves them in its own private memory...until you ask for them explocitly and it regenerates rhem again at full cost....its just pure fraud. No further notes. Thoughts?Jul 19, 2026 1:38 AM

Show HN: OtoDock, run Claude Code and Codex as a team of agents on your serverhttps://github.com/OtoDock/oto-dock/Hi HN, i am Dimitris,I have been using Claude Code and Codex agents, for some time now from the beggining i had been using them from inside my terminal mainly for coding. For the past 3 years i kept building so i have a homelab and a business server, which already has a lot of vms, so a lot of things to manage. So i decided to start building my own ideal version of using claude code, and codex flexibly and connect them easily with all my vms and infra but at the same time keep using them for coding, and as a personal assistant for daily use.So for the past months I built OtoDock. Its a self hosted platform, that runs real CLaude code and Codex as the engine. On top of them i build a live dashboard with websockets and integrated in depth the clis, so its even nicer to work with the cli through the dashboard instead of working on the terminal. I even ended up integrating interactive terminals as well (due to the subscription change Anthropic was trying to do for harnesses) so you can also Jul 15, 2026 4:11 PM

Show HN: Running server scripts from smartphone via SSHhttps://c100k.eu/p/rebootx/updates/20260714-remote-runbooksI've added Remote Runbooks to RebootX, a mobile app for managing cloud and on-prem infrastructure, available on iOS and Android (freemium). The idea is simple: when PagerDuty wakes you up, many incidents boil down to executing the same sequence of SSH commands or operational steps. Instead of opening a laptop, you can execute a predefined runbook directly from your phone.Very usefyl when you're on the go.The scripts are retrieved from the server at `/usr/local/sbin/rebootx/runbooks`, also via SSH. If a script is prefixed with `__` (2 underscores), it's considered dangerous and the app warns you about it and ask for confirmation before executing it.Some will argue that with the perfect infra, you don't have to do all of this. By experience, none of us have the perfect infra so SSH-ing into the server (e.g VPS) is often required.Happy to hear about your feedback or ideas of improvement.Jul 15, 2026 1:30 PM

Show HN: GLP-RAM – Chrome extension reducing the browser memory appetitehttps://github.com/chebykinn/glp-ramHi!I've been struggling to use Chrome on my M1 Mac, because of how much RAM it eats, and memory saver wasn't enough.I've made this extension based on combination of features on multiple separate extensions: 1. When you click on the new tab, only the first tab loads in background, the rest will have a placeholder until you click. 2. Only 3 active tabs per window are allowed to be loaded, the rest will be killed. 3. The extension watches if you have unsaved input, paused or active media, or if the page is configured to send notifications and it keeps these tabs alive.I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it allows me to open way too many tabs to handle :)The extension is published in Chrome Web Store, let me know if you have any questions!Jul 14, 2026 4:14 PM

Show HN: Finterm.ai Bloomberg terminal for Claude Codehttps://finterm.ai/Hi, my name is Kam, and today my cofounder Josh and I are shipping Finterm, a CLI that gives coding agents direct access to financial data: stock prices, options data, SEC filings, and Ticker Deep Research, a filtered ticker news search. I’m a developer and have been a full-time trader for the past few years.Recently I have been using LLMs more and more in my trading and strategy. I always found it frustrating that Claude Code or GPT did not have direct access to actual financial information and had to rely on web search, so it couldn’t get me more granular numbers for specific options pricing. When making a trade I want to understand as much as possible about the stock. Instead of relying on analysts or interpretations of the data, I like to go directly to the truth. So whenever I have a trade thesis, I break research into a few parts: company research, analyst sentiment, and market sentiment.Last September I had a short thesis on Popmart Labubu's parent company. Ask HN: How has the internet devolved in recent years?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48866959I'll start with 10:1. "Verifying you are human" delays/redirects2. Invasive "Sign in with Google[1]" prompts on every website, often taking over the UI3. Phone number based identity so when you change your number you lose your entire savings account and social media and all work access and your whole life is basically F-CKED except your romantic life which is very much NOT F-CKED since nobody knows your number.Never change your number.4. "You will own nothing" gaming where games you thought you owned get yoinked away at the leisure dare I say the PLEASURE of these neocorporate ingrates who want to de-fun (and defund) every lived experience!5. You can join any time you want but you can never delete. Livin it up at the Hotel Social Media. What a nice surprise, livin' someone else's life!6. You have been banished!7. Show HN: Mojave Paint for macOS, edit images like it's 1999https://mojavepaint.app/We all need a swiss army knife for images. A tool for really getting in there and dealing with the pixels precisely. You might be combining images into a sprite sheet, you might be matting images to squares, cutting out solid backgrounds, re-tinting graphical elements. For a website, a video game, for an app. There's a million photo editors, there's a million design tools, and Mojave Paint can do those things in varying degrees but "graphical asset production" is its first and primary mission. It's cheap! $9.99 (one-time, sad I even have to say that) for the "Pro" version. It's Mac-only, and Apple Silicon Mac at that. Does it look a little like Photoshop 5.5 from the year 1999? Maybe a little but also it's got plenty of its own original ideas. (Blog post on that is forthcoming…)I've always been passionate about image editing tools for the technically-minded so I'm throwing my hat in the ring in that space. And sure GIMP is for the technically-minded but boy is it ugly on the Mac!Jul 10, 2026 12:29 PM

Show HN: I hated how much my 12-year-old played Roblox, so we built our own FPShttps://cooked.houseI'm a father of two, 7 and 12. They are obsessed with Roblox, especially Rivals.Like a lot of parents, we did not love it. We tried the usual things: block it, limit it, set timers." It became a daily battle, a lose-lose situation. So I flipped the problem.Instead of fighting what they loved, I decided to lean into it, but with a twist. Why just play an FPS when you could build one together? My kids became the PMs. Claude and I became their engineer.I was shocked by how fast we moved. We picked a name, Cooked and started building.Get in. Lock in. Get cooked! In the first 3 hours, we had an actual FPS we could play together in the browser.Next day I invited my friend's two kids over. Suddenly, I had four PMs.We had 3 laptops, 1 iPad and 1 iPhone. So in 30mins we added mobile support and could play all 5 together. The kids would ask for features:"Can we have a rocket launcher that knocks people off the map?""The knife should stab faster when you hold it."I know almost nothing about FPS design,Jul 5, 2026 5:14 PM
