Show HN: Agent Historic Philosophical Persona Routing and PromptsI've been building this for a while. The core of it is I've assigned different tasks in a software engineering job to different philosophers. The prompts are written toward their thinking by "them" but the keywords are generic. I absolutely love using this prompt system. I share it every chance I get. I wrote a whitepaper about it. Maybe ya'll would be interested in it. I find my experience is better with my prompts than without.The only thing you might not like is my heavy handed treatment of logging output. I was seriously fed up with LLMs trying to run huge tests or scripts and then looking at just the last 20 characters. Everything is logged out to files and then the files are queried for the answers it wants.

Ask HN: Macbook or Linux Laptop for devs and heavy users?Hey everyone, I'm really curious to hear from people who pushes high end MacBooks and Linux laptops to their limits in daily use. I'll share my daily experience with my Linux laptop below, and I'm hoping to use the feedback from those who have been on both sides to decide if I should make the jump to a MacBook in the future. My experience: I'm a web developer doing both frontend and backend. I also do some mobile dev with Flutter. Personally, I prefer using an Android phone and a Linux machine. I'm currently using an Acer laptop with an i7-13700H and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I got my company to buy it for way cheaper than similar models on the market. While the overall performance is really good for the price, the speakers are absolute trash and the screen is just okay. Here is what's on my mind: Even though I can get about 3-4 hours of coding done on battery, it's obviously nowhere near a MacBook. I don't really need that long battery life most of the time, but it still sounds nice to have.

Ask HN: Any interesting niche hobbies?I'm looking for something novel and interesting, that isn't absolutely crowded that I could meaningfully contribute to.In 2022 I was toying around with OpenAI's RL Gym, right when the first non-instruct GPT3 model came out. I was thinking about getting into ML a lot more, but hesitated. Before that it was 3D printers, mechanical keyboards, drones, etc. All of these have exploded, and while they are still very interesting, I do love my Browns and manage Prusas for my local hackerspace, they have just, for the lack of a better term, industrialized. I'm also now in a position where I have time and money for it, not like when I was 15 and rating Ender motherboard upgrades I knew I'd never buy.Right now I'm making a chess engine, but that's already a solved problem. There's also biohacking, and while designing chips to go into my body is really interesting, I only have one, and don't want to push it too far.
